Tomase can be hilarious

Holy ****. That's all I can say. F*CK him. What a douche. I seriously haven't read one word he'd typed since that article until this one, and that's just hilarious right there. Funny how he didn't include that line on Feb 2nd.

That douche bag ruined the days leading up the Super Bowl for all the fans in New England, and who knows if the media shytstorm that he helped perpetuate had any effect on the players.

F*ck Tomase. Seriously, he needs to get fired and ASAP.

Nice photo (creepy) of Tomase.

I'm not going to follow that link, by doing so your supporting that moron !!

In fairness to Tomase, he did report that his source was unclear whether Belichick authorized or even knew about the taping of the walkthrough. That is a strong arguement for Tomase not printing the story unless he had more evidence or independent coorboration. Tomase is guilty of bad journalism, but his blog today doesn't change what I think of him.

Tomase would be wise not to be seen in public for the foreseeable future in the New England market. I fear this has become a dangerous place for him.

Believe it or not, we do have some nut jobs around here!;)

Did he say that in his initial article the freakin' day before the Super Bowl???

That didn't take very long now did it?

Actually he did say that his source was not sure if the videotaper was authorized by Belichick or if Belichick was even aware of the tape ever existing. Of course the rest of the media overlooked that part because it wasn't juicy enough.

No he didn't. He put that stuff out there as fact.

Sorry, but he did put the disclaimer that the source was not aware whether Belichick authorized the tape or even knew about it at all.

The Hearld article is archived and can't be accessed for free, but here is an exerpt from the Globe's article on February 2nd:

It was not known whether the cameraman was told by the Patriots to film the practice or what he did with the tape, the Herald said.

You can blast Tomase for a lot of things, but changing his story is not one of them.

Are you sure about that? I had though that the globe had put the disclaimer in but not the Herald.

I really don't think that was in Tomase's original article. I could be wrong, but it is certainly not my recollection that Tomase put in such a disclaimer, at least not in the same kind of wording the Globe did. Keep in mind Tomase did a lot of tinkering with the article as days went on and the Herald began to realize how irresponsible the article was.

100% sure. Tomase did put the disclaimer. People on this board blasted Tomase for that very point of his article at the time.

It does not matter B. I've never liked the guy and I will continue to not read his material. He didn't do his research. Before you put out something like that, if you are a responsible reporter, shouldn't you do some research?
His article hurt a lot more people than just BB.

Here is the exerpt of Tomase's original article via AOL:

According to a source close to the team during the 2001 season, here's what happened. On Feb. 2, 2002, one day before the Patriots' Super Bowl game against heavily favored St. Louis in New Orleans, the Patriots visited the Superdome for their final walkthrough.

After completing the walkthrough, they had their team picture taken and the Rams then took the field. According to the source, a member of the team's video staff stayed behind after attending the team's walkthrough and filmed St. Louis' walkthrough.

At no point was he asked to identify himself or produce a press pass, the source said. The cameraman rode the media shuttle back to the hotel with news photographers when the Rams walkthrough was completed, the source said.

It's not known what the cameraman did with the tape from there. It's also not known if he made the recording on his own initiative or if he was instructed to make the recording by someone with the Patriots or anyone else.

Again, you can blast Tomase for a lot of things, but he did put that disclaimer in his original story.

I agree, his article really put a damper on the SB week for a lot of fans. And as I said before, we'll never know if that whole media nightmare had some effect on the players and or coaches.
