Even though he may have lost a few steps, would you want Tedy Bruschi back for 1 more year... ???

In the same role as an every down ILB? No.

In a reduced role? Absolutely.

Of course ... why not...MLB of an 18-1 team with a top 5 defense.

Exactly. I voted for the third option because this one wasn't there.

This is like an ESPN poll ... every choice has a little negativity built in.
How about ... Yes ... without reservation.

This "because he is an emotional leader" disrespects his ability as a player
of his position. He is much more than just an "emotional leader".

Your poll is tainted :)

I honestly can't remember him making a single big play this year. That said, I think he should be back if he wants to be back, but he should not be counted on to start every down.

this notion of "linebacker by committee of aging vet" has got to go. you need guys that can play every down. and the guys that occasionally spell them should be young aggressive guys with fresh legs that come at a much lower salary.

reality is teddy should do the right thing and retire voluntarily. that would be the "team player" thing to do.

Bruschi can do as he wishes. He is a FREE agent.

Accept that great play during the AFCCG when he reached in front a SD receiver and forced them to punt. That was a great play.

Personally, I think it would be devestating to see him on any other team. More than any player on this team, he's someone that deserves to retire as a Patriot, even if it meant him taking a reduced role.

I'd like to see him back as LB coach.

You're right. There was another play he made against the Jaguars, I think, the week before in a similar situation except in the end zone. Big time players come up big in big games. But Tedy can't be an every-down guy anymore. Maybe Zach Thomas can join the rotation (I'd welcome Seau back too, I think he's better than Bruschi is), or Victor Hobson.

I think there is still enough left in the tank for one more year, although probably not as an everydown linebacker. That full length diving breakup in the AFCCG suggests it too!

I won't be ready for Bruschi to go, until our next championship.

I can understand why people don't think he should be a starter anymore. Which I still believe he can be but I do not understand why anyone wouldn't want him back. Each of the last two seasons we went into the year with 5 good options at LB and each year one has got hurt leaving us short a LBer. Lets go into this year with 6. the 5 from last year and at least one more good LB.

Now Bruschi is a guy who has given this team a home team discount in the past and should be returning this year on a pretty cheap contract. He plays STs and is a captain and emotional leader. Who doesn't want that back?

i don't buy the whole "emotional" leader thing at the pro level. these guys will only respect you if you're good and making plays. if not you're not a leader, period. anyone that thinks guys like harrison, seymour, wilfork, colvin, samuel etc etc need teddy or any other player to "lead their emotions" is badly mistaken. if you're not holding your end of the bargain on the field these guys will only resent that you're on the field in the 1st place making their job more difficult.
