Resign Moss, Gaffney

Tom Brady new contract

Trade the 7th round pick to Dallas for thier 2 number 1's and a number 2

If that is all we did this offseason, would you be happy...

Or would you trade a 1 and 3 for chad johnson , to go along with Moss , Gaffney, Thomas, and Law

While Assante Samual , signs with the Jets..

I don't think you should bring Law back. Taylor is gonna stay put. I think the Pats could land Gaffney.

I would not sign Chad Johnson. People have this fasciantion with offense and we know that defense wins championships. You can have all the best wr's but if you don't give brady time to throw to them it's no good.

Trading the #7 to dallas would be the most reasonable. It just hurts losing our original second rounder.

I'm leaning towards more to taking Ryan Clady or Jake Long if he slips.

And going after a LB in the second round and cb's in the third.

I think I'd be happy with the off-season if we just re-sign Moss. That alone would make me feel confident we'd be in a position to win the title again next season.

I'd like to see Thomas sign if they think he can play in the 3-4. I respect Ted Johnson's opinion when it comes to ILBs in our system, but I respect BB's more, so if they sign him, they must think they can use him.

We'll never get Jason Taylor.

My ideal offseason would be:

Sign Moss for 3 yrs/16 mill
Sign Gaffney for 4 yrs/10 mill
Sign Thomas 2 yrs/5 mill
Sign Law 2 yrs/7 mill

I'm not much of a draft expert, but trade #7 pick, to Bears for #14 & #44, take Clady at #14 (will he be there?) and use #44 and one of our other picks to move up to the necessary spot to grab a CB (specifically Rodgers-Cromartie).

I like that trade....how do the points play out?

I think this would be an ideal offseason.

For me, Moss, a new Brady contract, and at least one, hopefully two; of the Gaffney, Law, Thomas group.

Taylor or Ocho would be an awesome bonus, but I am not willing to give up the 1st rounder for either of them

What I REALLY want is some of our young LB's to step up.

7 = 1500

14 = 1100
*44 = 460

*Technically 45 if you count the Pats #31 pick which they don't get to take...

So numbers wise, it fits OK, I've seen that trade floated by others, never would've thought of it myself, but looks like its reasonable. If Ryan is available at #7, you'd have to think the Bears would be interested.

I'd be happy, though Dallas is unlikely to trade with us unless McFadden is available, which is looking less likely now (and I'd rather get both their firsts and Barber, but either way is a win).

Trade the lower first for Chad Johnson, draft a LB/CB (Talib, Bell, Lofton, etc.) with the higher 1st, and then try to pry Taylor out of Miami for a 3rd or something. I'd be immensely pleased.

How about Victor Hobson as well? He always plays immensely well against the Patriots.

I think of all the things that could happen this is one of the most likely.

Taylor isn't going to be dealt here. Chad Johnson is a pipe dream - trading for him is a waste of valuable resources if Moss is still here.

I'd like to resign Moss and Gaffney on offense. Other than reworking Brady I don't see any other moves needed on offense.

I'd like to rework Colvin's deal on D and keep him.

Then use the draft and FA to reload on defense. Despite what the stats said, I did not feel our defense was at the level it was during the title years. I'd like to see speed and youth mixed in with our veteran base.

Yeah, I agree, and that would be ideal for us if it could happen.

Any thoughts here on if Clady would be available at #14? What about some of the CB prospects? Talib, McKelvin, Jenkins etc.

Count me as one of the people that don't even think or understand how we could afford Chad Johnson, and Randy Moss...

I know , I should have not added him in there, but I was one of the people who thought once we signed Stallworth, I didnt think we would be adding Moss.. Look how that turned out.

Resigning Moss and Gaffney is quite doable. Signing Law is not too much of a stretch. Jason Taylor is not going to be a Patriot. They evidently want Zach Thomas, but I don't know how much of an upgrade he represents on defense. What would really make me happy is a first round pick on defense at the linebacker or cornerback slot who has an immediate impact. Probably won't happen.

No, I wouldn't be happy with that offseason. Too many old players when this defense needs to get younger.

He is my ideal (pipedream) offseason:

let Samuel walk
re-sign Moss
re-sign Gaffney
sign OLB/DE Terrell Suggs
trade for Lito Sheppard as he is rumored to be on the block according to another thread
sign Ty Law (anybody starting over Hobbs is an upgrade)
draft DE/OLB Vernon Gholston with the #7 overall selection
That is all I've got so far

Let Samuel walk
Trade the #7 to the Eagles for their #1 and Lito Sheppard
Resign Moss
Resign Brady
Resign Washington (I prefer Gaffney as a receiver, but you've gotta love Washington's mentality and ST contributions)
Draft a LB at #19
Draft OL in second round
let Gaffney walk, unless he's willing to take #4 money.
Sign Ty Law as a nickel

Starting Hobbs and Sheppard, with Law as a nickel, with Rodney, Sanders and Meriweather at safety would be fantastic. We'd then have Moss, Welker, Jackson and Washington at receiver, with Thomas hopefully stepping up as a blocking TE. We'd have a bit more OL depth, and Maroney/Morris/Faulk would be a great backfield.

We certainly need a CB more than an OT. The line had one very bad game. Why didn't O'Callaghan play when he did great against Strahan in game 17?
Go Talib and draft a developmental OL guy.
We desperately need a safety over an OT. There are some very smart football minds on this site. Please consider that most of our pass damage was done in the middle. Who do we have after Merriweather and Harrison? Sanders is still awful. No he is NOT "a player who is a good young talent". What are you Sanders lovers looking at? Well, he might not be able to tackle, but he can't cover either.

Sanders is awful. the pats defense was awful. the pass defense was awful. they got no sacks. they got no int's. I guess we should wish for Eugene Wilson back at Safety. the forgotten man

How does one stop a Brady/Moss/Ocho Cinco/Welker offense?

Can't double team both of them.
