My brother just got back from Aruba and a little story that cheered me up a bit.

My brother had a Patriots shirt on and some native was talking to him and they got to talking about the Patriots.

The guy had no clue really except that he kept saying oh you guys are the best and this and that.

My brother kinda agreed but than said that they lost in the SB but the native still kept insisting you guys are the best.

it was cool to here because it put some perspective on the last few years....
We have won 3 Titles and we have been in constant chase of the fourth and those that don't follow it on a daily basis think that we are the best team in football.

Funny that you write that - I happen to be vacationing in Aruba myself - the only reaction I received was some dumb fat ass beeatch tourista looking down on my Patriot shirt. She said "ugh - Patriots" I turned, scowled and said "that's right sugar, get used to us we ain't going away - we just keep on winning". As for the Arubans, they are great, last year, I brought the guy that runs the boat hut a Patriots flag that he flew right beside his Red Sox & Aruban flags. When I got down this year, following the Superbowl - he said he was not flying it for two weeks as punishment for losing.

As for the feelings of how good the Patriots are recognized as being, we have arrived folks - we are the best and if we keep this up we will be the best that ever was. Keep winning and no one can take that away from us no matter how hard they try. It is this excellence that explains why "they" are all after us here in the USA - we are the best, "they" want to bring us down any way they can. That goes for 31 other teams and the fans that follow them, along with all of the mediots.

If they think we cheated then that will explain why we are so good in their feeble minds.

The only way to prove otherwise is to keep on winning. That should motivate Kraft, BB, Brady and company. It is essential, in my mind, that we bring home a few more Superbowl rings - being one play away was pretty good, but not good enough.

:rocker:

Internationally, its hard pressed to find another NFL team as popular. I would equate it to my knowledge of Manchester United. I don't follow soccer in the rest of the world (even though I generally like it and would catch a game if it came on) but from what I've seen their the team on top. Everyone is interested in them and so people who don't really even follow the sport see them as the team to beat. I really dont know much about them but know they are consistently successful and so I figure they are the best (and they also have one of the most talented young players in cristiano ronaldo).

Easy there, the Pats haven't earned the right of being called "the best" in 3 years. At some point NE has to back up its rep and win it all.

Yes at some point they do have to back it up again but so long as they do this year and the past two will be part of our Successes even though they fell a littel short.

Playoff appearances mean something, AFC title game appearances mean something, SB appearances mean something, and a undefeated regular season is an accomplishment that only a few teams have done.

Take it all in....total body of work..last three years, three division crowns, 2 AFC Championship games with one championship and one play away from 4th Superbowl.

Not good enough I know - but not too shabby when you add the first half of the decade into the mix.

This reminds me. . . .if anyone ever has the chance to go to Anguilla, on the north end (can't remember what beach but it's the BIG one, there is a bar run by a local who used to live in Boston. Lots of Patriots, Bruins and Red Sox stuff up all over the place. You can see the giant Patriots flag from way down on the beach while you're walking it.

If you take a walk down past the "low rise" hotels in Aruba and you walk by the Costa Linda Resort - look for the Red Sox Championship flag and soon to be put back up - New England Patriots Flag. By the way, one resort further down is the Biscuiti Resort, the women tend to be topless there......always incentive to extend that morning walk!

When we return in March - I am bringing him a huge old school flag as well.

The way they handled the murder of an American I would never go there. Or any other Netherlands island.

I think the incident is obviously horrible, but to punish a country over the act of a brutal murderer and cover up, is wrong in my opinion. In a sense, it's almost like implicating all of Patriot Nation over spygate when the media choose to find guilt before due process.

Aruba is the safest Island I have ever been to and I feel safer there any time of day or night, then I would in Boston, Foxwoods or Foxboro. I have taken the time to go beyond the hotels and meet and speak with many people from Aruba. The Aruban people feel horrible and regret any pain and suffering the family has gone through. To take out this terrible murder and botched investigation on an entire, innocent country and her wonderful, friendly and kind people is not the way to go in my opinion.

Crime in Aruba is virtually non existent and when it does occur, it is usually from visiting Americans stealing from each other or not knowing how to behave after they have had too many. My understanding is this murder was the only one in well over 20 years.

Michael, I understand your feelings but please know the Aruban people feel a hundred times worse than you do over this and it has nothing to do with money or possible loss of business.
