Re: Steelers Farrior : "I'm mad that we didn't do it first"

Does anyone get the feeling that the steelers may not be innocent bystanders?

I get the feeling that most of the teams in the league aren't.

Re: Steelers Farrior : "I'm mad that we didn't do it first"

One team that I don't think was in the taping business was the Rams. The way I remember it the Rams were all about themselves, Martz said he didn't care what the other team did he just ran whatever he wanted.

I think the Rams may have gotten a raw deal in all this. Martz went nuts after that loss and became paranoid. Now it turns out he may have had a reason to be.

The sad thing for Martz is that he always praised Belichick. Even recently he said he has the highest respect for Belichick, and he hopes the allegations aren't true.

If it turns out the Pats cheated the Rams, I will feel we owe the Rams an apology.

let me summarize your post:

The Rams coach was a stubborn unprepared moron so the pats should apologize for this.

The Steelers also came out and said that they didn't feel that the taping affected any of the games against the Pats, which surprises me. It does suggest to me, as a previous poster already stated, that the Steelers may have recently found out that they're pretty close to being implicated, or could easily be implicated, and this is a sort of preemptive damage control.

It's also worth noting that Farrior was a Jet before he was a Steeler, and at that time Belichick was his defensive coordinator.

Funny how all these mediots are blabbing up a storm when Mike Martz GOT FIRED as HC of the Rams and has had a hard time even getting and keeping an O.C. job in this league since....YET..."Patriots STOLE SIGNALS!!!!...SCREWED MARTZ!!!!"....what a bunch of bull....anybody who saw the game saw the Rams get punched in the mouth...end of freaking story.

I seriously doubt the Steelers were doing it because Cowher was adamant that he never taped.

On the other hand, Dungy dissed Belichick for not upholding the standards of the game, and meanwhile he employs Howard Mudd, the guy who taught Jimmy Johnson to tape, and he goes along with the amplification of crowd noise, the heating of the dome in big games, and the changing of the rules in committee, all to benefit his team, so you never know.

Then go after all the teams doing it or make it legal.

Usually taking things requires a warrant. This was not a legal matter.

I'll agree with you on that one. I'm okay with further investigation, as long as everyone is investigated equally, and anyone found guilty of any offense which rivals what the patriots committed is assessed a penalty which uses what the Pats received as precedent. In that case, the draft might skip directly to round 2 next year.

What ... wtf is this now the Teletubbies league ... group hug time? :bricks:

Re: Steelers Farrior : "I'm mad that we didn't do it first"

If it turns out we cheated the Rams, I'll agree. That said, even if we did film then in-game, we still didn't cheat them, because filming in the Super Bowl is obviously beyond pointless (when are you going to use this film, anyways?) And don't even start with the walkthrough crap- the league office has known about that for almost a year, and concluded that there was nothing to it. There's neither smoke nor fire there.

ummm, im still confused as to how filming the rams HELPED us. we did nearly lose that game. it wasnt perfect. anyway, if we stole defensive signals, then how come our offense wasnt on fire in that game? it was our defense that punched the high powered rams offense in the mouth.

I'm only a guy on a message board, not the commissioner.

Martz has come out and publicly said that the Patriots derived no advantage in Super Bowl XXXVI from their practices, whatever that may have entailed. He himself believes that no apology is necessary or required and that the game was won fair and squad, so why do fans insist on it?

Me neither...this is all part of the game. The rams tried to get any advantage on the pats as well. Where's that article where the officials were looking into the practice of the Pats cuz someone was allegedly spying and they thought it was the rams? No apologies either way...Pats won fair and square

I'm gonna have to agree with the Chargers fan on this one. I don't think everybody does it and if they do I'm sure Belichick took it to the next level. I doubt he started the method but he is certainly guilty of doing it. Honestly how many other coaches could you picture doing this. Not because they're any more noble than Belichick, they're just as competitive, but because he's more innovative.
