CHIEFS TO CUT LAW
Posted by Mike Florio on February 15, 2008, 3:42 p.m.

A league source tells us that the Kansas City Chiefs soon will be releasing veteran cornerback Ty Law.

Law, 33, was cut by the Patriots in February 2005. He played for the Jets that year, and then signed with the Chiefs in 2006.

Signed through 2010, Law is due to earn a base salary of $6.5 million in the coming season.

Would be a great "bridge" player, and help our newly drafted D backs.

Sign him. Sign him now.

In all honesty, Law is the perfect player to bring in if he'll accept a reasonable contract. Can bridge the gap to a young drafted CB, and also make the long-discussed transition to safety after Rodney retires. Plus, I still have very fond memories of him. Get it done, BB/SP.

would love to have him on the team, with or without asante here.

:ditto::agree::yeahthat::rocker:

You ain't gonna see Law back here. too much lockerroom backage

Bring him back...He can have his old 24.

I would take him back....like someone else said he would be a good player to bridge the gap until rooks are ready.

An interesting question would be could he have made the difference the last few years.....Would we have won if we found a way to keep him?

Might he have caught one of the drops on that last drive by Rodney, Asante, or Merriweather?

Or would it have been the other way....he is too old now and he may have got beat some where along the line giving us a loss before the SB?

that would be great to get him back...i know there has been rumors in the past and it hasn't come through but it would be so great if we could get him back. i loved seein him play for the pats!

Peyton Manning does not want Law back on the Pats.

Not even worth thinking about, there are literally thousands of more relevant factors to the game than the difference between Ty Law and one of those guys on a single play.

:D Another reason we need to sign him....i would just LOVE to hear "Manning picked off by Ty Law" again...and again...and again...

I disagree. Belichick doesn't make decisions emotionally. Law said everything he could think of after Super Bowl 38, but Belichick still brought him back for another year. Law got injured that season but when it was all said and done, he left in a pretty non-controversial fashion.

The Patriots may pursue Law or they may not, but some stupid comments made 4 years ago aren't going to be a factor.

And hey, he'll be a free agent signing that we won't need to buy a new Jersey for.

I hadn't even thought of that. I generally tend to avoid buying jerseys these days for just that reason, and stick to t-shirts (not to mention the financial difference), but I do have an old Law jersey that my girlfriend uses as pajamas. Maybe it will be time to reclaim that bad boy.

I guess that deal the pats offered for him was not so bad after all..

I have a ty law jersey that I have been waiting for him to retire to start wearing again.

That makes me realize something....I used to always wear that to the Home games...I wouldn't wear it at my home for the road games and when Ty law left we were still on the home winning streak.

The jersey had never lost.....If we Bring back Ty I can pull the jersey off the wall and Hopefully it still has undefeated mojo left.

Come on, you haven't thought about "what if Ty Law" had signed here? He was awfully close to coming here, and I'm sure he regrets going to KC for the small monetary difference. Honestly, I do think we'd have two more titles if we had Ty Law on our team the last two years. IMO, our D hasn't quite been the same without him, and he was the true defensive MVP on a couple of those title teams. Yes, I know the easy argument is that we won without him when he was hurt, but I'd take Ty Law the last two years over Asante. Asante is nowhere near the CB Law was when he left us, I don't know what Law's skills are now.
