(My Prediction) there will be a push for us to forfeit our OTHER 1st rd pick

I just got this feeling that the week or two prior to the draft, the media,players ,franchises, and even loony politicians will go on a great crusade to force goddell to swipe away our 7th overall pick.Most likely some other "source" will point his finger at the pats and some overzealous journalist will run with it, thus furthering more probing into the pats practices. there will be great pressure on the NFL and the commisioner to do something. I have no proof whatsoever but im pretty sure it will happen. anyone feel the same?

they can't, its not ours. we traded for it. that would be like asking us to forfeit randy moss. you cant take away something we traded value to get in the past.

No chance! There is a NFL rule that a team cannot be punished twice for an offense once the first punishment has been carried out.

the steelers , mike martz and vermiel and the nfl are circling the wagons this is a fight against NFL and i do not know but this whole senator thing as united the nfl more .

Rest easy on that fear.

Goodell, having overreacted in September with the punishment that did not fit the actual crime (his own words were that it didn't alter the outcome of any games), is now moving in the other direction.

He will strongly resist any pressure now to come down even harder on the Pats, because it will make it look like he covered up something when the events broke, or that he didn't investigate hard enough at the timem which would be far worse for the league. All the overreaction by Specter has made Goodell into more of an ally now.

The only way is just what he said--if any new, reliable, material information comes out that makes him reevaluate.

There is a better chance of him reinstating our lost #1 than taking away the other #1 now.

hey, I don't own a tin foil hat, but if you haven't noticed our team is the most hated team in quite some time and their being attacked. this is definitely something that could happen.

Sure there will be a call for it to happen just like there were calls for Belichick to be suspended during some key games this season, just like spygate resurfaced and spector came into the picture the week right before the superbowl. They're all just attempts to derail us during times of critical preparation. And I'm sure there will be a huge to do about it during draft week, and there will be deafening chants and boos when our #1 pick hits the stage come draft day I can't wait.

As other folks have noted, Goodell said back in September that the fines and the forfeited pick were punishment for everything he knew about.

The ONLY way the Pats can be further punished is if Goodell learns that the Patriots lied to him. Nothing that's happened so far indicates that has happened.

I have no evidence one way or the other, but I wouldn't be surprised if there's an NFL rule that basically says once a pick is officially traded, it belongs unconditionally to the new team. Heck, even that craptacular SI poll from yesterday didn't suggest taking away the SF pick. (Also, the Commissioner does NOT have unlimited powers. For example, the NFL rules specifically forbid him from unilaterally declaring a forfeit.)

almost everyone knew that the "SF Pick" would be higher than "our" pick, so maybe he thought just taking away "our" pick was sufficient. I dunno, there are lots of things he could have done, but didn't (like suspend BB)

The irony would be if the end result is that it turns out that either or both of Pennsylvania's teams were doing the same thing.........and it comes back to bite Senator Spector in the tuchas.....
IIRC Eagles management and Andy Reid were exceptionally quiet about spygate leading me to conclude that maybe they were doing the same thing.......
