Cancel Comcast and tell them why.

Cancel Comcast and tell them why.

When I droped Comcast I told them it was because of the NFL Network.

Re: Belichick's silence is why Spygate continues

There is no good in stayng silent. Even if it is best Belichick stay silent, he needs to be able to speak through surrogates, people like Charlie Weis, Romeo Crennel, former players, other coaches, Jim Brown - they need to come to his defense in a forceful way.

Silence usually just bolsters the opposition into even greater hysterics. Just look at John Kerry circa August 2004 with the Swiftboaters.

Re: Belichick's silence is why Spygate continues

Oh, sure, if BB talks it will ALLLLLLL go away.

Don't be naive.

Don't underestimate BB's general intelligence - he's not just a football genius. I'd like to hear him speak and try and clear his name. This attack on BB, this sypgate crap, is undeserved, and anyone who thinks rationally about it realizes that, BB could do a lot to convince people of this.

And more importantly, at the very least, clear the name of the players. These guys have been dragged through the mud, their accomplishments tarnished and tainted and they have literally nothing to do with it. BB should defend them and himself. I can understand if he doesn't give a crap about what people think about him, but the players might not have the same attitude.

That's why at some point I think we will hear him talk about it.

Jimmy Johnson
Bill Parcells
Even the Pittsburgh Steelers issued a statement that the taping had "NO IMPACT".

People haven't been silent in defending the Patriots actions. Its just that the media at large doesn't want to hear it.

Re: Belichick's silence is why Spygate continues

Exactly. The media only reports what they think people want to hear. No one wants to hear that the Patriots might not have gained much of a competitive advantage, and that this is all a big joke.

Very true. Also, the only place I'm hearing hysterics about this latest crap is over here at this messageboard, FWIW.

I can't fathom the people who think the Pats should just clam up because "this thing will go away if nobody says anything about it for a full news cycle."

Can't you see that this isn't going away? And that it hasn't since week 2?

The Pats just need to go on the offensive. Explain, in their own words, what they taped. Explain that everyone does it. Produce examples of other teams doing it. In particular, go after the NY teams because that's the primary media market that fuels this. Show that Parcells and the Giants and Mangii and the Jets are tainted.

Then Belichick can come out and explain his interpretation of the rule. He can tell the world that his interpretation was based on common practice of any number of other NFL teams throughout his career.

Isn't this exactly what Jimmy Johnson and Bill Parcells said? What makes you think they will listen to Belichick over those two? It isn't as if Belichick has a lot of friends in the media that will give him the benifit of the doubt.

Re: Belichick's silence is why Spygate continues

i think that BB has handled this the only way he could.

anything (anything!) he says will just be fodder for more questions, more speculation and more criticism.

if this were a rational discussion in which two parties are trying to arrive at a mutual understanding and reasonable resolution of a matter over which they disagree, it would work for him to speak.

but the folks on the other side (media, politicians, maddened fans of other teams, jealous opponents players/management, etc) are not seeking understanding or resolution, they want only blood and headlines. there is no reasonable response other than silence, except when required by the NFL or law.

also, if you believe, as I do, that BB is sitting on a powderkeg of evidence and information that would tarnish the entire league and bring down others (can you spell "Parcells"), his silence is actually protecting others.

Re: Belichick's silence is why Spygate continues

When are the Kraft's going to intercede and start to address this matter publicy? Much of the suspicion about this whole nonsense remains because Bill Belichick has never publicy looked anyone in the eye and explained himself regarding the taping of the Jet game. ALL OF THIS is on Bill Belichick and his mishandling of this incident (re: a complete lack of public explanantion) and it's what has created the void which PR seeking Comcast poodle Arlen Specter now seeks to fill. While BB is a great coach I am growing tired of his KGB style secrecy and behavior.

Do you honestly think that this would solve anything? Ask the Kennedy
assassination airheads if the Warren Commission answered their questions.
He doesn't say anything more as it is over for him. If it's not over for you,
that is your problem. Move on. Ignore the haters.

I am sorry but your take on this is wrong. You do not inflate a stupid situation by giving it credence with a response. Even the NFL is downplaying it as much as possible by saying they are not even investigating the Walsh claim (per ESPN article today) and that they are simply trying to verify employment and times. I really think he doesn't have anything and everyone knows it. Anyway. Specter is a windbag looking for cheap political capital. You do not dignify that with a response.

You are kidding, right? Are you suggesting that the media might not pay much attention if the main 'villain' in this soap opera plans to address the subject?

Of course they will.

Of course, if you think anything he says would be given a positive spin by the media you are the one who is kidding.

You do not give credence to an opinion or point of view that is invalid. No one on the Patriots needs to explain anything. It has been explained and been adjudicated and punishment has been dealt. End of the story. If you think that the media and blowhard politicians are, "not letting this go away" then you are being led. If the Patriots responded they would be doing exactly what Specter and all these other idiots want them to do. You don't give into that kind of pressure. It is not warranted.

This isn't going away no matter what BB and Kraft say or don't say, but if BB and Kraft say something it's going to be spread all over the media, twisted and can possibly used against them if this crap ends up before the senate.

And proving every other team does it might seem like a good idea but if Specters real motive is to strip the NFL of its anti-trust status then they would have helped his cause in a big way.

This is unfortunately true. Spygate is a very big deal on internet football message boards. It's getting far less play in mainstream media or on the street.

People need to realize that and if it bothers them that much they need to GET OFF THE INTERNET for a while.

We have a new thread here every time some internet hack weights in and puts his spin on it. AND THAT INCLUDES THREAD STARTERS HERE!

What do you want them to say? No one will believe them anyway? They have been tried and convicted in the court of public opinion.
