Re: Goodell:No Regrets of destroying tapes

So he hasn't heard from Matt Walsh.....what an astonishing shocker.

That loser was so trying to get his 15 minutes and some cash. Now that he's being given free reign, where the eff is he? On some golf course?

So basically the meeting was a waste of complete time.

Good job Sphincter.

Re: Goodell:No Regrets of destroying tapes

the senator was on TV claiming their were notes from 04 steelers games and stuff.

i hope this does not end with pats going down in the looney bins.

The rest of the world was tuning in for the Roger Clemens stuff. These two probably had to meet in the loo.

Re: Goodell:No Regrets of destroying tapes

Yeah, I don't think Specter will be satisfied with any answers.

Re: Goodell:No Regrets of destroying tapes

Goodell also said he has not heard from Matt Walsh, the former Patriots employee who performed some videotaping duties for the team. Goodell said he has offered Walsh a deal whereby "he has to tell the truth and he has to return anything he took improperly."

This doesn't sound like a good deal for Walsh. What did Goodell offer in return for the truth and the tapes? Walsh has made it clear that he wants his legal fees paid for before he releases anything, so I guess they didn't offer that.

Well, he was offered immunity to talk. So yeah.

eta: Are you saying Goodell should have offered him a book deal?

LOL. Of they were anything like the notes I used to take, they had little drawings of cartoon characters all over them.

What on earth does "going down in the loony bins" mean anyway? Any ideas?

I have no idea what he wants to see , some one should put the tape that got out in a loop for 30 hrs .it was boring to watch for 2 minutes that will clear his head.

looney bins is an old expression ... something similar to looney tunes but those which are bad and end up in the trash bin.

Ok, but what does it mean? I'm honestly curious.

Re: Goodell:No Regrets of destroying tapes

loony bin - pejorative terms for an insane asylum

Re: Goodell:No Regrets of destroying tapes

I've seen some reports that Goodell told Specter the Pats had taped Steelers regular season game and AFCCG a few years back. Also, Goodell said in September that the taping only went back to 2006, but now they are saying it went back to 2002 and 2000. Goodell is looking like a liar right now.

It looks like it's only going to get much, much worse for our Pats. :(

Goodell said that Belichick, New England’s coach since 2000, told him that he believed the taping was legal, implying that he’s been doing it since he has been the head coach. Goodell said he did not concur.

"He said that’s always been his interpretation since he’s been the head coach," the commissioner said. "We are going to agree to disagree on the facts."

When did the rule go into place?

Notes went back to 2002. They've said this all along. I don't see how this can get worse unless someone like this Matt whatever his name is steps up with evidence of the Pats doing something more sinister. As far as Goodell is concerned until new evidence is produced the Pats have paid the price for this whole ordeal.

Goodell offered him to never have legal bills for anyone to pick up. What he didn't offer Walsh is hundreds of thousands of dollars to let him cash in for his BS information which really seems to be what he wanted in the first place.

Yeah, it seems like nothing is going to happen to them when before the meeting it was absolutely nothing was going to happen to them. If things keep landsliding like this, the Pats might be in danger of having a very, very remote chance that something might happen to them.

I hear after today's meeting between Goodell and Specter that Bob Kraft has been making arrangements for not going to Washington to not attend hearings that will never happen.

You're probably right... but I don't remember seeing anything about him paying for a lawyer to testify for him in federal court.

Re: Goodell:No Regrets of destroying tapes

I said legal fees, not immunity.

He will pick up his legal fees! I hear that there was a squabble between the NFL and Walsh's lawyers on how the NFL would pay out zero dollars - in cash or a check.

You do realize that if Goodell gives Walsh immunity, it would mean the Patriots couldn't sue Walsh?
