Re: Ticket price increase

Well said. The noise is generated from the lower bowl and with people like me who sit on the 10 yard ine being priced out, the noise level is going to go down.

It's going to be like a church next year when the likes of the Cardinals and Chiefs come to Gillette.

The actual team or the Church Cardinals. Ya lost me. ;)

Good point!

Let's take a trip down memory lane and look at the price of season tickets.

2001 (Foxboro Stadium): $49
2002 (Gillette Stadium): $99
2004: $125
2008: $169

I had no problem with the 100% increase in 2002 as I was expecting it. A new Stadium opened with no PSL's so I had absolutely nothing to bad to say about the increase.

But a $42 increase this season is ridiculous. I was expecting maybe a $10 or $15 increase.

Is Kraft having problems finding tenants for his mall? A mall that I will never go to as I live 40 minutes from Foxboro.

I can drive to tax free New Hampshire in 25 minutes.

I keep saying it: We would've been much better off over the long haul WITH PSLs. They appreciate in value over time like money in the bank, and they help keep ticket prices manageable.

Re: Ticket price increase

Well on the positive side, I think a lot of waiting list people will be bumped up to season ticket holders. My brother and I have four season tickets. To think we are going to have to shell out $936 for two meaningless preseason games makes me a little queasy.

Kraft better make sure we get the third preseason game for that price. I definitely don't want want to shell out $117 a ticket to watch Matt Cassel go up against a bunch of future Walmart employees.

Re: Ticket price increase

Where are all the people who make fun of us season ticket holders for not making enough noise?

I thought those people would buy our tickets in a heartbeat?

You can have mine as long as you send me a money order or certified check for $5,070. Personal checks will not be accepted.

Don't forget by March 31st and then more money for the playoffs (at even steeper prices) just before Christmas.

Its always the ones who don't go who say "what's the big deal....Kraft is just doing what the market supports"....but the majority, if they had to write the check year after year, couldn't or wouldn't.

And by the way, I have two tickets as well on the Pats side. I was told tonight the "true" value of Pats tickets are $250 per game since that is what you can get on e-bay and such. According to that "logic" the Patriots are actually selling lower than the true value. So, anyone with $5,000 grand certified check before March 31st for two tix, let me know.

Where are your seats and how many do you have?

Re: Ticket price increase

this just forces more tickets to ebay at inflated prices to off set the cost

something I never have done but it is enticing to think selling 1 game could offset the increase

Re: Ticket price increase

I'm in Section 135, Row 9. I have 3 tickets.

Will you accept an out-of-country, post-dated, bad check?

Just kidding. I will PM you later.

No worries.

135 is an excellent place to watch the game. Apart from the ticket agency that has the 3 seats next to mine I know everyone around me. Its been that way since Gillette opened.

Re: Ticket price increase

Like how CBS headlined it.

Patriots raise ticket prices following 18-1 season
Feb. 13, 2008

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- The New England Patriots are raising some ticket prices for the 2008 season.

The highest priced seats, on the lower level sideline, will increase from $125 to $169. The cheapest seats, standing room, will remain $49.

It's the first ticket price increase since the end of the 2004 season.

Re: Ticket price increase

what a bunch of crap! do they ever lower tickets when we dont make the playoffs or not win the superbowl? no..

i beleive we are up there as the highest ticket prices in the NFL and i beleive the highest parking costs as well..

it's not just the highest ticket in all of football
it's the highest in all of sports
and, the sox are number one in baseball
celts and bruins are number four

Re: Ticket price increase

At least most of you live close enough to see them at home.
I'd have to fly across country. Or wait for them to play san Diego.

Re: Ticket price increase

How else is Bob going to pay for Patriot Place?? I saw this coming. At these prices, going to one game isn't in my price range. Season ticket holders, how do you do it?

Re: Ticket price increase

Wow this is lame, with economy in the dumper no less nice timming Johnathan. $125 to 169 may be too much for me, what are they going to say when the winning slows down and the stadium is half full and the games are blacked out. After having been a ticket holder for years this season may have been my last.
Or maybe I will try and find soneone to split them with, too bad.

Re: Ticket price increase

It's getting to the point where it's not even worth going to the games.

The price to take a family of 4 to see a game is $676 at $169 per ticket. After you pay for parking + food you just dropped $800 for three hours of football. For a couple hundred bucks more you could buy a "46" inch high def tv that you could watch the Patriots on for the next decade.

Is it really worth it at this point?

Imo no, which is why i scrapped going to any games this year and used that extra cash so i can now enjoy a 42" 1080p tv along with a ps3 for the blu-ray playback.

Re: Ticket price increase

Does everyone realize this is still much cheaper than season tickets to baseball, hockey, basketball?

Re: Ticket price increase

Too many pink hatters are into Football right now. Its not just the near constant winning. Its a cultural thing and its right now. It won't last forever. Back when the Celtics were just as dominant in the 80's the tickets were hard to afford, but not this hard. You season ticket holders have to think hard about giving up your seniority towards those magical 50 yard line seats 10 rows up that won't be so expensive, relatively speaking, 15 years from now.
