OPINION: Dan Morgan, Pats in the running?

Re: Dan Morgan, Pats in the running?

he was one of my favourite non Pats players till a couple of years ago

if i am not wrong he was very often injured in the last period

if healthy i would like to see him with us; no doubt

Re: Dan Morgan, Pats in the running?

Morgan is an absolute stud when healthy, but that's just the problem, he's never healthy. 4 games in the last 2 years and some severe concussion issues (as well as a torn achilles now)? I'm thinking the odds are very poor he'll be healthy next year, but for cheap, I'd definitely take a flyer on him.

Low risk (cost) and potentially a very high reward if he could ever stay healthy. I just would hope they don't go into the year expecting anything from him. If he stays healthy, we've got a Pro Bowl caliber ILB. If not, we better have a starting caliber ILB waiting on the bench.

There will be a market but limited guaranteed offers, given his situation. I'd be intrigued by him but we all know his injury situation.

Re: Dan Morgan, Pats in the running?

Post ted johnson, would make me a little skeptical about any LB with a history of Concussion problems..

Re: Dan Morgan, Pats in the running?

I beleve that he is one more injury from retirement. On the off chance he stays healthy, and depending on what he would be willing to sign for, it could be a good move.

Re: Dan Morgan, Pats in the running?

If no team makes him a decent offer in the first few weeks of FA, I could see him coming here for near the minimum. He would be a solid contributor if healthy, but he isn't worth much more than the minimum.

Re: Dan Morgan, Pats in the running?

Unless some teams comes out and offers him 5 million or some really foolish offer. I dont see how he wouldnt mind coming to the Pats. Its not like theres a thing called backups if your in the Pats rotation at LB.

Morgan would come in here and for the first time be able to play all 16 games.

Re: Dan Morgan, Pats in the running?

I would not get very excited about Dan Morgan coming to NE. From all reports, his health (multiple concussions) is a huge question.

Re: Dan Morgan, Pats in the running?

alright,
lets get a guy who has played 59 of his 108 career games in 7 yrs .towards the last couple he has not even suited up alot so he should be fresh.

also, clear a seat in the IR group too.

I second that.. The guy is damaged goods

Re: Dan Morgan, Pats in the running?

IDK what Morgan's market value is now, or will be as of March 1st, but it sounds like he wants to play. His Achilles' injury appears almost fully healed. He hasn't been concussed since September 2006. He might be signed as early as the first week of March, or as late as the last week of July.

The Pats' FO should ask Rosenhaus to keep it abreast of negotiations between Morgan and other teams, just in case.

If both Seau and Bruschi return, then there probably isn't room for another vet at ILB like Morgan. If one or both retire, then there probably is.

I guess a second LB in that catagory is Al Wilson. When ok he was a beast. I can't remember the exact injury (neck?), but I thought somewhere that he was "cleared to play"

Re: Dan Morgan, Pats in the running?

I like the idea of taking a chance on Morgan if the price is right.

Granted, he has had some serious injuries, but for the right price the man could be a steal.

It also makes sense for Morgan. What better place for Morgan to come to resurrect his career?

The man is a pro bowl talent that could come very cheaply. If I were the Pat's I would look long and hard.

Re: Dan Morgan, Pats in the running?

Would really like for the Pats to take a serious look at Morgan and/or Wilson. They both fit the BB LB mold. Of course, injuries are a huge flaming red flag with both, but if one of them pans out it would be a killer signing.

Re: Dan Morgan, Pats in the running?

He would have to come dirt cheap. His career stats are comparable to Bruschi's.

I still like the idea of going after a OLB like Calvin Pace and playing AD full time inside. Vrabel could alternate between outside (with Rosie and Pace) and inside (with Seau and AD).

Re: Dan Morgan, Pats in the running?

I actually think this is something worth pursuing. Clearly his health would need to be looked into, but if it checks out this guy would be a very good addition.
He is far from old, drafted the same year as Seymour and Light.

I completely agree and probably will say so about 10x over.

Its not like the guy is having concussions at the rate Zach Thomas is and the only reason he was put on IR last year was because of an ankle injury that is just about fully healed. What better time to get him into our scheme and flow of things then right now when hes coming back from injury?

Im all for it.

Big Dan Morgan fan here!
Bring him in
