Round 1- Evans555 2008 Mock Draft

1. Miami Dolphins- Chris Long, DE, Virginia

Ultimately I believe the Phins will try to trade out of this spot, but the question is will they find a suiter? People have been saying Jerry Jones wants McFadden but is the risk worth the reward? I dont think so. Think about it they already have Barber and are probably going to lose Jones via FA. If McFadden goes down to injury Jones becomes the laughing stock of the league. The risk is not worth the reward. Look for Parcells to get his guy for the 3-4 defense and a solid athlete at that.

2. St. Louis Rams- Glenn Dorsey, DT, LSU

Sedrick Ellis is the hotter pick right now, but Dorsey moves mountains. He is a dominant force and just because he didnt play in the senior bowl should not decrease his stock. Anyone who watched him in the regular season knows he won some battles against DOUBLE teams. Plus he played better against superior talent in the SEC.

3. Atlanta Falcons- Darren McFadden, RB , Arkansas

To me this is the most intriguing pick in the draft, the Falcons can go a couple different ways here. To me it will be McFadden and here is why: The rise of Adrian Peterson last yr. will increase McFadden's stock before the draft. Think of all the teams that passed on Apete last year. Matt Ryan could also go to Atlanta depending on his combine and what happens with Derek Anderson.

4. Oakland Raiders- Sedrick Ellis, DT, USC

To me Al Davis wants Darren McFadden to team up with QB Russell because he often goes for the flashy pick. If McFadden dosnt fall to him look for him to take Ellis to replace Warren Sapp.

5. Kansas City Chiefs- Jake Long, OL, Michigan

KC could use a QB here with Matt Ryan, but they gave up 55 sacks last year. I also believe the top OL prospect in this years draft is less of a gamble than the top QB, but once again Ryan's stock could rise after the combine.

6. New York Jets- Vernon Gholston, DL/OLB, Ohio State

This is a very solid pick and the Jets will get a very very good player. From what I have read Gholston is a workout warrior and scouts eat that stuff right up. He will be a great fit in the 3-4 defense and his stock will rise like Willis last year.

7. New England Patriots- Leodias McKelvin, CB, Troy State

I have seen some mocks with the Pats selecting a OL with this pick. To me this is redicilous, just because the Pats had ONE poor OL performace in the super bowl against a freak DL in the Giants is no reason they should reach for Clady in this position. McKelvin has great hips and a very good change of direction from what I watched from the senior bowl tapes.

8. Baltimore Ravens- Matt Ryan, QB, Boston College

Kyle Boller is bad, real bad. You need a QB in the NFL Bills fans know this, I think Raven fans will keep their fingers crossed that Ryan falls to them.

9. Cincinnati Bengals- Keith Rivers, OLB, USC

As much as I hate to type this (because I want the Bills to pick Rivers) Cincy needs some defensive help BAD. The Bengals are desprate for help at LB and there are no reports of character problems with Rivers.

10. New Orleans Saints- Aqib Talib- CB, Kansas

The Saints secondary is horrible. There pass D was ranked 30th against the pass. I like Talib over Mike Jenkins because of his size he is 6'2 205, Jenkins 6'0. I think the league will be going with taller CB's as the WR's get some height.

11. Buffalo Bills- Malcom Kelly, WR, Oklahoma

This is a reach, and just like the Dolphins I think the Bills will try to trade down if this is what is on the board. I am ok with this pick if they address a stud LB in the second round to replace Ellison. I was going to have them take a DE at this spot but they have alot invested at that position.

12.- Denver Broncos- Kenny Phillips, FS, Miami

John Lynch is old....37 years old this is a value pick for the Broncos.

13.- Carolina Panthers- Ryan Clady- OT

Carolina runs a zone blocking scheme and will select the best O-lineman available.

14. Chicago Bears- Brian Brohm, QB, Louisville

When Rex Grossman was pulled mid way through the season for journey man Brian Greise that should tell you how the FO feels about him. Barring a move in FA the Bears will select a QB for the future.

15. Detrot Lions- James Hardy (haha just kidding not another WR) Mike Jenkins,CB,USF

The Lions were 31st against the pass. There defense is pittiful.

16. Arizona Cardnals- Rashard Mendenhall, RB, Illinois

AZ needs a replacement for Edgrain James. Mendenhall is HUGE and I think he is a better option than Stewart from Oregon as the 2nd RB taken off the board.

17. Minnestoa Vikings- Desean Jackson, WR, Cal

The Troy Williamson experience should be over, he has hands of stone and their leading WR was Sidney Rice. Jackson will also help with kick returns and will prove explosive.

18. Houston Texans- Jonathan Stewart, RB, Oregon

Ahman Green was a subpar FA signing and had problems finishing the yr. Gado is not a #1 RB

19. Philadelphia Eagles- Limas Sweed, WR, Texas

This is a bit of a reach like the Bills selection of Kelly at #11, but I think Sweed with impress at the combine. The Eagles dont have many options at WR (Reggie Brown is terrible) and I think if the FO keeps McNabb they will draft to keep him happy

20. Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Antoine Cason, CB, Arizona

I really like this pick and think he will be a stud. The Bucs need help in their secondary that is getting old. If Brohm is still on the board they could choose him to replace Garcia in a few yrs.

21. Washington Redskins- Calais Campbell, DE, Miami

He is a FREAK at 6'7 280, this is a player that would be great for Buffalo but like I said they have alot of money invested in the underacheiving Kelsey and Aaron "lightweight" Schobel. The Redskins will get a really good player here and add to a strong DE class of the NFC east.

22.- Dallas Cowboys- Felix Jones, RB, Arkansas

He had a 8.7 YPC running behind McFadden, if Jones cant get his man in McFadden look for him to take his backup who is very underrated. I also like James Hardy with this pick if he impresses at the combine because of Owens and Glenn's age.

23. Pittsburgh Steelers- Chris Williams, OL, Vanderbilt

This is a major steal for the Pittsburgh and will be much needed to replace Fanaeca who is unhappy and is likely to test FA. They gave up 47 sacks this year.

24. Tennesee Titans- Mario Manningham, WR, Mich.

Mike Mayock has him as his top rated WR. I trust Mayocks ratings as they seem to be the best. With that said the Titans need weapons for Young. When Eric Moulds is your #1 or 2 going into the playoffs that is not good.

25. Seattle Seahawks- Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, CB, TSU

His stock will rise after the combine and a replacement will be needed when Trufant (7int) goes somewhere via FA. He's a tall corner who runs a 4.3

26. Jacksonville Jaguars- Derrick Harvey, DE, Florida

Something tells me Harvey wont last until here after the combine but this would be a steal for the Jags. Bobby McCray is set to leave in Free agency

27. San Diego Chargers- Early Ducet, WR, LSU

After the offense stalled in the playoffs they could use all the help they could get to keep Kaeding off the turf.

28. Dallas Cowboys- Jeff Otah, G, Pittsburgh

29. San Francisco 49ers- Kentwan Balmer, DT, UNC

They need help on their line, match a young DT with Willis and overpaid but productive Nate the great and SF should be good.

30. Green Bay Packers- Reggie Smith, CB/S, Oklahoma

Woodson is 31 and Harris is 33, Smith is a good choice here

31. York Giants- Dan Conner, LB, Penn State

An upgrade at the LB position would improve the Super Bowl champs

Good work. You're mock to me is the worse case scenario for us. Which means it will probably break that way. Though I wonder if anyone would be interested in moving ahead of Baltimore to get Matt Ryan. You have Chicago taking Brohm. I wonder if they might be interested in Matt. I think we can get our cb if we can manage to trade down a little. I'm hoping S.Ellis is on the board at 7. I think someone would trade up for him. Maybe Denver.

I don't think you have any major ommissions. Though, I think you have too many wr's going.
I don't think L.Sweed or E.Doucet will go in 1st. I think Q.Groves will go in 1st after having a great combine. Supposedly, runs a 4.45 at about 240+. We shall see. I think maybe another ol like Sam Baker will sneak into the late first. Maybe even a guy like Cherilus or A.Collins.

Any Ideas on 2nd and 3rd rounds for us? If we take a cb first. What do you think about?
2. P.Wheeler - ILB - Ga Tech
3a. B. Davis - OLB - UCLA
3b. T. Williams - CB - USF

sd drafting wr in the 1st?

you're ******ed, no offense

Bill & Scott has suprise before...I thinking trading down and getting Rivers and the best DB on the next pick...

i want the pats to get laurenitis out of ohio state

It'll be impressive if they pull that off, seeing as Son of Animal is going to be playing at Ohio State next year. :) / :(

First off settle down buddy...its a MB no reason to get your panties in a bunch

Second off maybe I was wrong and DE Groves can go here.....i'm sure no one ever made a mistake in a mock draft

With Atlanta hiring from the Patriots front office I cannot see them taking McFadden unless Blank wanted a big name but keep in mind McFadden was also recently in trouble in a bar fight. I don't think the Falcons want to risk any more bad press for off the field issues.

They are likely going to let Florence walk so I think a CB is in play here too.

Most mocks I've seen are perfect and 100% accurate
It makes the draft not ever worth having

I prefer Talib to McKelvin. I hope the Patriots agree.

Haha, I'm glad you can find them. I don't think I've seen any two mocks yet that agree on more than about ten picks in the first round. It should even out more after the combine, thankfully.

Oh, and I'm not sure why SD drafting WR in the first round is so dumb? Craig Davis did alright this year, Vincent Jackson only came into his own in the playoffs, and Chris Chambers was solid after they got him in the trade. It wouldn't hurt to get another WR just in case.

Great effort on the mock.

I prefer Talib to McKelvin. I hope the Patriots agree.

talib can get burned on some go routes, he's not that fast for a corner, but against an ok WR he will own, but a super fast one with a quick step talib could be a liability, i like him, but his speed is what worries me, i mean ted ginn jr could own him if they match up next season

Ya thats why I dont see the Pats taking him...think about it the afc east has some real burners in Ted Ginn and as a Bills fan myself Evans and Roscoe Parrish have some crazy feet
