Oh those good ol' wacky Redskins.

How on earth are the Chargers so far under the cap? Is Gates still under his rookie contract?

Actually, Rivers, Merriman and Cromateri are probably on the cheap side of their rookie deals, so I guess it makes sense.

Holy cow, I can't believe how much cap space the Jags, and Chargers have.

chargers cap # will be going down quite a bit over the next couple years when they pay a crapton in new contracts with castillo rivers merriman cromartie and whoever else that's still under contract through 09

the reason they have alot is the gm and his minions do very well at locking guys up , and because sd doesn't pursue pricey FAs

last i checked i think 46 guys or so, are locked up past 09

fat lot of good it's done for us so far

no rings on those fingers :(

Ok, i'm not going to come on here and pretend to understand cap because i really don't. However, can someone explain to me why there may be an un-capped future? Being that i can't post threads of my own yet..

The current agreement with the players union will end in a year or two and there is no consensus regarding how to proceed so the cap may go away.

Is it ironic for the Redskins (Washington) to have a salary cap = to our own gov.s????

wow. 20 over the cap? How will they be punished for that? Those numbers for the chargers will change a great deal in the next few years. No way do they keep performing like that and not have to pay their players.

Does anyone know if the Colvin and Stallworth options are included in these numbers?

Since they're currently under contract, yes, their numbers are included.

Miguel can correct me if I'm wrong, but the way I understand it, if they are over the cap after a certain date, the league will start voiding contracts. I don't know the exact details; clearly, something has to give there.

Unless of course you're Denver and you've deliberately hidden payments and taken advantage of the system in order to win multiple Super Bowls. In that case, it isn't cheating and just gets a slap on the wrist.

The cap will NEVER go away.

After looking through Miguels cap page, I can see that we're a little tight with the space this season - but as he said it best, we still have enough space to field a Championship team.

But we definitely don't have the money for both Asante and Moss, and that's assuming Stallworth is gone and that Colvin can be re-worked. In fact, Moss, as far as I'm concerned, is the only FA signing over 1-2 mill a hit for the 08 season that they can afford (if Colvin stays in some manner). I think we'll re-sign Bruschi, Seau maybe, some of the special teamers, Izzo, Paxton, etc, but the rest of our improvements will come via draft.

How the hell did S.D. get 40+ million under the cap with the talent they have on that team?

If they handle their business well in the off season they could be tough to beat.

Here's the Chargers 07 salary:

Don't think that's cap hits, just salaries, and again, its 07 not 08.

Keep in mind, SD will probably have to dedicate that money for extensions on existing players, unless they want to be F'd in a couple of years and lose all the studs on the team they have now.

NO way, I dont believe it. I mean the media tells me the Patriots are the only cheaters in the history of nfl...they are the worse thing to happen to the nfl even if they get the highest ratings ... the media is always right so you should just believe them bc they know more than us and are smarter than us and always tell the truth and...:bricks:

Yea it'll be interesting to see what SP/BB have in plan for the draft...I still think they pick up another vet on defense through FA, but it hinges on what Seau/Bruschi decide to do...
