Around 10PM last night, driving home from a movie, it hit me again like a ton of bricks. About a week earlier, we blew it.

I am mostly in the 'acceptance' phase of the grief about the game, but still spells of anger and depression come back. I think the denial is about over....

However, I still haven't looked at any sports shows since the game. I can't do it. I don't want to watch until there is nothing about football.

It was nice to see the Celtics win yesterday against the Spurs. Scary that they did it without Garnett.

If only the Bruins were good...

You have to move on, what else is there ! Remember, it's just a game that's played for the entertainment of the masses. Players make millions, owners make more, the network makes even more and you don't, feel better now ?

It was still a devastating loss, and these things take time. Thank goodness every day wasn't like last Monday. I'm overall over it, as I said, and looking forward to next season. But the one-week anniversary of the death of a dream was depressing.

I went to the movies at exactly 6pm last night because I started to feel that "oh, it was a week ago...." feeling. I'm glad I did. I don't think I'll need to "avoid" it again, but definitely the 1 week mark was a tough one.

I'm better off than I was last year - 2 weeks of Peyton Manning Super Bowl hype was torture. This year the season is over and 2008 is on the horizon.

Excellent point. This has made the transition easier.

.......

C's are a good substitute these days. Some great plays. They were
really fun to watch. Not getting my hopes up too high but at least
you know every game they'll be in the game.

I don't think I'll ever get over the PATs loss. Yes I know they have a
great team and will be in it again next year but ... I don't know ....
... i can't put my finger on it but ... it's not a good feeling.
If someone disappoints you big time... you tend not to trust that
person again. it's like that.

I guess I'm in a mix of denial and acceptance. Denial as in I've avoided almost all sports media except for Sirius NFL Radio (I'll change the station when they talk about the SB or the Giants). I've accepted that we were second best for most of the SB though and the Giants deserved their trophy. I'm proud of what the team has accomplished and looking forward to next season.

The offseason is wayyyyy too long. :(

I've been ok for the last few days, but it hit me again this morning. The Best Buy guy came to install my surround sound and he decided to show me how it works. Just my luck, he decides to turn it on NFL Network, as there's 5 minutes left of their Super Bowl replay.

Too bad I was so pissed about the game that I don't think I heard a word he said. Guess I better go figure out how my surround sound works :(

I wasn't depressed but I looked at my watch at 6PM and thought, "Oh God, this time last week it was just beginning."

I think our Jewish friends have it right. If someone dies, you bury them the next day and then the bereaved hang out at home and receive friends and relatives for the next seven days, talking about the deceased (hopefully in positive terms), eating the food they bring and starting to get over the impact of the death. It's called "Sitting Shivah." After that, life returns to normal except that, for the next year, the bereaved recite a special prayer (the Mourner's Kaddish) whenever they go to synagogue. Shivah doesn't pretend that there is no more grief, it just tries to separate an acute period of mourning from the adjustment that will come with time.

So, the Patriots lost last Sunday and our hope of a Perfect Season died with them. As with the Jewish tradition, many of us have been coming out here every day, trying to find companionship in our sadness and grief. Today would be the final day of "Shivah" for the Patriots loss. It's time, for me at least, to start moving on and looking to the team's future.

I read the newspapers on Monday (last). I teared up a little, but what was worse was the sick feeling I felt when they lost. I felt sick I didnt understand...Im over it, but a lot of people dont think I am because I bring up plays all the time. Somehow, this game made me be more of a Patriots fan. this ws the first real year that I watched most games. The superstition was big in my house, for when they were losing or doing bad, Id go downstairs and play videogames or something. Then (of course) they'd always pull through. Except last sunday. I cannot wait for next season. My dad has yet to get over it, and my brother (12, but a HUGE fan) has a little ways to go. Next season, the superstition is over. It doesnt do anything. Im staying with my team the whole way through. I talk to myself all the time now, going over the plays that the refs missed, that any fan, even I, could have called, over plays, and, somehow, it makes me feel better. Hey, I watched the f***ing Pro Bowl!

I, too, went to a movie last night around 6pm. I'm getting over it..but I'll never BE OVER it. Worst sports loss of my life---nothing could match this, I'm sure. (In the sports world-not the real world, of course.) Sox don't do much for me...I like the Celtics and all but really, I am just looking forward to the NFL draft and free agency. Heard the Cowboys are interested in Moss...that makes me sick. Read my local paper (the one I work at) yesterday and there were a couple negative letters to the editor towards the Pats organization. This is a New England newspaper; doesn't get much worse than that!
