Guys,

Mike Whorio has a great site, but this bitcch is a Western PA Squeelers fan, jealous of Pats success. Lets not feed into what this trollbag says about anything. If he was a real media site, he would display objectivity and not jealousy.

Well said. Clearly everyone who has any issue with anything the Patriots do is just jealous, especially all of us Steelers fans. After all, it's not like Pittsburgh has won the Super Bowl more recently than New England or anything, and we also never rooted for a "dynasty" that hadn't actually won the championship in three years. But whatever, you clearly have it all figured out..

Prior to 2005, you were rooting for a 'dynasty' that hadn't won anything in over 2 decades. Nice try though.

I'm well aware of that, though I'm not sure what that has to do with anything, considering the Patriots championship pedigree from 1960-2000 and 2005 to present is nothing to crow about..

My issue with this post is the author's absurd use of the victim complex/ "everyone is jealous of us" nonsense. Do some people's sour grapes explain part of why so many fan bases are ecstatic your team lost? Of course. But it's absurd to believe that is the main, or only, reason that the Patriots have become almost universally disliked in football fan circles.

Let me put it this way. The San Antonio Spurs have had a better recent run than the Patriots. They have the potential this season to win their 5th title in 10 years. If they get to the Finals, do you honestly believe that every other NBA city is going to be united in a desire to see them fail? Again, the Spurs have won more than the Patriots, and the author of this post and many, many other New England fans will talk all day long about how other people hate their team just because "they win all the time" (I'm talking to you, Bill Simmons...)

But you know perfectly well that sentiment will not exist. So why not? Clearly winning isn't the only thing involved in the hate the Patriots have generated these past few years...

Not for nothing, but I wouldn't throw stones at a guy whos team won four Super Bowls and their coach was 4-0 and was never outcoached or lost to a clearly inferior team in the Super Bowl. The Steelers were once the laughing stock of the NFL many years ago; they have fielded a competitive team for the better part of the last 35 years.

I say that as a 35+ year Patriots fan; that game last week was a disaster................

Hadn't won, correct, been competitive and in the hunt for those 2 decades...fact.

The Steelers have participated in Super Bowls each of the last four decades; 1970's, 1980's, 1990's and their most recent trip in 2005. We've done the same in three decades, 1980's, 1990's and the present run from 2001 onwards.

Not bad for both teams to be honest................

I also like to point out, the Steelers beat the 2 time champion Cowboys...twice head to head...and then lost a close game to the 2 time champion Cowboys.

Also had to beat the 4 time NFC Champs Vikings in the same Era. Our QB had to defeat 2 HOF QBs in Head to Head battles, one of them, Staubach, he had to beat twice.

It isn't like the Steelers of the 70s beat up on weak NFC Teams...well maybe the Rams they had only a couple good years. But the Cowboys and Vikings were both Legit in the NFC back then.

Proud Steelers Fan here.

My memory may be a bit hazy, but didn't the Steelers beat the wild card Cowboys one of those times pretty handily? The Cowboys beat the Vikings in a playoff game that featured perhaps the worst playoff call of all time; Drew Pierson pushed off on the Vikings cornerback on a prayer hail Mary pass towards the end of the game, catch the TD and the call was on the VIKING player?

Also, as you pointed out, the Rams beat the powerhouse Tampa Bay Bucs to earn the right to get smoked by the Steelers and the Vikings, sorry to report were the Buffalo Bills of the 1970's, getting to four Super Bowls and not being in a single one of those games, losing to the Chiefs (that team may have been the best Viking team of all time by the way), Dophins, Steelers and Raiders.

Not to take anything away from those Steeler teams of the 70's; Chuck never lost a Super Bowl to a NFC pretender now did he, 4-0 he was, a true HOF coach.........

Both wins over the Cowboys were by 4 points. They scored late to make it look closer.

Noll also made some great calls in those Superbowls. Including a "go for it" on 4th down instead of punting in a key situation, not to get the first as much as to avoid the Cowboys punt rush that was close to blocking 2 already. And of coarse, an onside kick. His relationship with the press wasn't very good, and once he retired from the game, he didn't stick around. So I (as well as many Steelers fans) feel he doesn't get half the credit he deserves. And the arguement (I could have coached those teams with that talent) well...He drafted that talent, he found that talent and he made that talent work together. Mean Joe Greene played ball at North Texas University. That's a draft pick baby!
