This was a special team and in the end history will shine brightly on this team when people have a chance to really look at what this team accomplished. No team in NFL history had to go through the week-in and week-out pressure this team faced starting in Week 1 with "spygate" and then continuing with perfection. Easy to lose sight of the fact that this team answered the call and came one play away (4x in the 4th qtr) of achieving perfection. It's tough not to get tired as a player and coach dealing with all they had to go through.

We should not let the media or anyone else take away from what this team accomplished and we should never let them take away our enjoyment of this great game and team like they did this year.

Copmare to the opther 18-1 teams:
We had a better first 18 weeks, a worse 19th, and a worse 33 that will follow.

I read that article yesterday and couldn't agree more. I understand why the national coverage is so negative. We're 7 years into this Patriot's run so there's inevitably a certain amount of Patriot fatigue at the national level. However, the local coverage has been, with few exceptions (e.g. Reiss) embarrassing this year. I have one of those collectors books from the Herald from the 2001 season. Go back and read some of those stories sometime. There was such joy in the fact that the Pats were just winning games. Nobody cared if they won by too much or too little or if Belichick gave the opposing coach a lousy handshake. The Patriots didn't lose a game this year until the Super Bowl and even from the local media at times you'd think they were little better than .500 Winning games should be fun, even when expectations are high.

18-1 Is A Amazing Year So To All Pats Fans Out There Stop The Crying And Celebrate One Of The Greatest Seasons In Football History And Remember There Is Always A Next Season To Win A Super Bowl.

that's the one thing i cant explain. why the local media not only turned on us but actually went about sabotaging our chances.

Ever hear of the short but interesting Super Bowl losing team jinx? - Its got me worried,Not too much, but nevertheless....

The media got what they wanted in the end. We lost.

I know it's weird to say we when talking about a team you don't play for, but I dont think I'm the only one who feels close to this team, after all they had to go through.

That's why I find it so hard to bash any of them after the debacle of a Super Bowl. Yeah, they lost, but does that really make what they did for 5 months meaningless? We watch the NFL to be entertained, and they poured it on in droves.

Someday, loving the 2007 Patriots will be a badge of honor, because we know what happened, and most people won't.

Guys forget about all those super bowl jinx's and enjoy the offseason and get ready for another amazing year next season.:D

Could someone list the other 18-1 teams. Thanks!

San Francisco 49ers, 1984
Chicago Bears, 1985

We were 35 seconds away from 19-0.Very diassapointing for sure.
But you know what? The Pats were the biggest story of football in over two decades.
No fans of any team of any era ever had the wonderful ride that we did.Not even the two teams above. It was a special, special season. Our team was the most intresting and most watched team ever in the history of the NFL.

What we were is dissapointed, the rest of the country was relieved. But as more distance in time between the SB,the more appreciated we will be as the the fear and hate diminish.
2007 will not be remembered for the NY Giants. It will be remembered for the 2007 Patriots. We lost one game to the only team that deserved to be on the same field and it took a miracle to beat us.Our hard reality has already hit us and as haters relish the idea right now.Going forward they know in their heart of hearts its the best seaon ever they have ever wittnessed.

I wouldent call the giants victory a miracle, they won 11 straight road games and they played their hearts out to beat one of the greatest teams ever and really it was one of those amazing games you never forget, even though the lost was hard to take after a 18-0 season,I give the giants credit they werent given anything, they earn it.

You are correct. The Giants played like champions all day and earned without a doubt, and my hat is off to them.Which makes my point. The Giants were the only team that deserved to even be on the same field as the Pats. And it took a herculean effort to beat the Pats, and they did it.It took the greatest SB in history to defeat the team who had the greatest season in history. The Giants and their fans have a lot to be proud of and the Pats have nothing to be ashamed of.

I would say that we gave it away more than they earned it

Both won the super bowl.

Since the NFL adopted the 16 game schedule 20 + yrs ago the Pats are only the 3rd team to win 18 games in a season.
