I know this doesn't help most of us deal with the pain as most of us here are bigger Pats fans than sox fans but at least you can say it to shut them up.

As they start to rib you about how bad the SB was blown just remind them that on any given Sunday you can lose but how would like to blow it four straight times like the Yankees did.

Most of the people involved in the New York Boston rivalry care more about baseball anyways.

I was waiting for one of those geniuses to come up with some play on 1918.

I was almost feeling sorry for New Yorkers. They've got nearly 9 million people, Boston less than a million. They've got two teams for every pro sport. They outspend Boston sports teams by 250%. Yet in this century, they can't win a thing (until this strange, strange Super Bowl).

Don't let them annoy you. Just pat them on the head, and remind them of their ridiculous advantages, and why in the world would they focus their competitive energy on such a small city as Boston? Must be tough to be a New Yorker.

It's not worth it to bicker with them. Why bother bringing up everything you beat each other over in the past? Just take it like a man.

I dunno, I'm getting beyond irritated with a lot of NY fans and bandwagon fans who jumped onboard two days before the Super Bowl.

All I see are people gloating about Tom Brady, Belichick and the Patriots being knocked down a peg. Maybe my judgement is clouded, but I can't remember a more ungracious and crass fan base after a championship win.

I'm not happy about it, but the Pats were knocked down a peg. It sucks, but it's where we are.

To be entirely fair, it's not the Boston Patriots...

Look at yourselves in the mirror. Every team that loses thinks the other fans are classless. You guys are NO EXCEPTION

Something tells me there's going to be a lot of "long time" Giants fans crawling out of the woodwork.

"I stuck up for Eli the whole time"

Did you?

Yep..yes I did ......

I don't really give a sh!T about Giants fans. It's still the NY Rats fans that we have to hear from all the time. You know them because they rent out your stadium, ignore the game then go to Gate D and rape fat chicks. Then they boo their Quarterback when he goes down. Then they come here and tell us that we are "classless" and "bandwagoners" because our team is good and their team is a joke, then they become Giants fans.

The difference is that the Patriots and their fans wouldn't be gloating all week about how the Giants lost, but about how the Patriots won.

People are happier that Brady lost than they are that Eli won. That's the problem. And it's all the more obnoxious because there's a specific anti-Patriots bent to this. People didn't hate the 49ers and Joe Montana like this, or the Colts and Manning.

And you can't argue that it's because the Pats got "what was coming to them" because the Pats talk the least amount of trash to the media. On the contrary, people complained because they were like some emotionless, boring machine ripping through the league.

Who knows. I'm just disgusted that people can't be happy in their own success, only in the misery of others who had been more successful before them.

To me and all other 'historic' NFL followers, it will always be Boston Patriots since that is where it started (and Boston should of had a permanent stadium if the stupid councilman of Southie / Westie /etc.. wouldn't be d*cks & concerned with who gets the most economic windfall!).......You think anywhere else in New England would of been given the 'original' franchise back in 1960? No, they wanted a large city.....oh well wishful thinking that Kraft almost got the stadium done in South Boston back in the 90's..

People did hate the Cowboys like this, however.

So is it still the Baltimore Colts? Chicago Cardinals?

Anyways, my point wasn't that the Patriots aren't a "Boston" team. Just that it's ludicrous to consider the Sox, Pats, Celtics, etc. small market teams. They simply aren't; they have a massive following all around New England as well as nationwide.

First, let me say this. I am a New Yorker and a Giants fan. Obviously I’m happy about the win. But I have and will always respect the New England Patriots primarily because I am a big fan of BBs coaching. The bottom line is the past decade your team has played football on a level that has been inspirational. I have rooted for your team in every Super Bowl with the obvious exception of this one. If you guys pulled Sunday’s game out, if the outcome was 14-10 instead of 17-14, I would have had no regrets. At the end of the day if that was what fate had in store for us I would have been proud of our guys because they would have been right in there with one of the greatest football dynasties I have ever had the pleasure of watching play and it would have been no shame to lose to you –especially if we went down fighting.

My only regret is our win came at the expense of this amazing season you guys had and that its helped fuel a lot of this anti-Patriots sentiment. Sometimes you just come up short but that fact hasn’t stopped the legion of haters out there who are reveling in your misfortune calling your team cheaters, accusing you of running up scores and having their cheap laughs. None of that matters cause at the end of the day your team almost reached a pinnacle that only one other team has reached in all football history. Yes you missed the mark but what matters is that you tried.

There is no doubt in my mind that the Pats are one of the great dynasties of football. There is also no doubt in my mind that this last loss is excruciating but it can also motivate. Before they won Super Bowl VII the 72 Dolphins had to suffer a bitter humiliation in Super Bowl VI. They were horribly embarrassed on both sides of the ball by the Cowboys in a way that would put most teams into a 5 year slump. They carried that game with them all year and it was the motivation that took them to the one place no one else has reached before or since. While last Sunday’s game was nothing like that, what your team had in common with them was the feeling that when the chips were down you didn’t play at the level at which you were capable. Nothing feels worse than that. But the best teams come back from adversity and I hope to see the Pats come back from this.

This season we came into our own ONLY because we played YOU in that last game of the season. I am 100% certain if that game never happened we wouldn’t have made it past the first round of the playoffs. Somehow that game and the decision to play that game was a turning point for us and when you got us a second time you got us at the very best we could have been at that time. I am not delusional. I know this win is unlikely to be the beginning of some Giants dynasty; we are unlikely to get past the playoffs next year. But if by some miracle we DO get back, your Patriots are the team I want to see on the opposite sideline and if that happens, whatever the outcome, I want people to say WE brought out the best in YOU.

Whatever happens hold your head up high and don't mind the pathetic haters. You guys have every reason to be proud of your team.

what was so strange about this super bowl. To everyone else it appeared to be a good game where a team finally exploited brady's weakness which is handling a good pass rush. Problem is it's not that brady CAN'T handle pressure its that with the way you guys play offense most teams aren't going to be able to pressure brady. So it just so happens that the game he sees the most pressure are the chargers and giants games. The last 2 of the season which appeared to throw brady out of his normal rhythm. Sure scoring 40 a game is nice but there ARE downsides to everything.

This is one of the most thoughtful comments about this that I've heard from anyone. Thank you for saying this because it helps to hear.
