Had the Pats won surely they would've started at home on a Thursday night. Am I the only one wishing they start on the road preferably on the west coast so they can get one of those trips out of the way? Plus they'll be well rested and can arrive when ever they want.

Good point. Impossible to say now until the schedule is out. I was hoping we'd see a Pitt-NE opener if we'd won (that was the most plausible, looking at our home games), just one of the many things we won't get to enjoy now, haha.

It will certainly be a marquee, primetime matchup, home or away. IMO if they send us to the West Coast Week 1 it will be against the Chargers. If we are at home, I'd say Denver.

We've played the Jets at home late the last few years and on the road early the last few years. I think we could see an early Jets home game in 2008, not necessarily week 1.

Given the budding rivalry between the Chargers and Pats, I doubt they would want to waste that matchup in week 1. I'd consider it a candidate for a prime time game later in the season.

it will most likely be a sunday night matchup. steelers @ home IMO

Great...opening at NE with our brutal schedule...well I guess if you want to be the man...maybe it'll be a night game, we seem to play better when the lights are on. Wanna bet there won't be a gaurentee this time around :)

I'm pretty sure if someone guaranteed a victory in Week 1 against a team still smarting from going 18-0 and then losing the Super Bowl, Mike Tomlin would rip their head off and feed it to his dog. And he'd be justified in doing so.

well..really depends on the offseason moves of the teams a lot but NBC wouldnt miss a chance on opening day to put costas and olbermann and collinsworth to further beat down on the pats and BB on primetime. So iam quite sure they will open on sunday night . Would be surprised if they didnt.

I believe we play better in the afternoon rather than at night for some reason.

We always seem to start off against a division opponent. I'm thinking the put us against the Jets again.

Hey now, no one in the media is a bigger anti-Steeler than Collinsworth. For everything negative he says about the Pats, he had 10 more comments for us. The guy is still mad at us from his playing days. So if he had to call a Steelers Pats game, I bet his head would explode!

I'd like to see an opening day game against the Pats...that just means we don't have to play them later on in the season when we are really gearing up for the playoffs.

And while I'm at it...I want Denver to make the playoffs just to play the Pats... :)

Get the dirty Chargers out of the way Week 1.

Would love to take a can opener to the new oil can in week 1.....:rocker:

Aren't there 2 Monday Night games on the first Monday. I guess we could be the second with one of the west coast games, like the Seahawks.

Anybody but the Bills week one. They just seem to give us fits when that happens.

If we start on the road I agree getting a west coast game out of the way would be good. I think week one @ Seattle would be an interesting matchup. I think the NFL will want to save SD for later in the season.

i seriously doubt anyone in nbc hates anyone more than the pats. costas especially. and collinsworth was the one who repeatedly called for Belichick's suspension.peter king..well we know what he keeps saying about the pats.that leaves olbermann..-enough said. In fact olbermann said the steelers were the best team in football or something midseason.

I heard a rumor today that ESPN is disappointed in the ratings they get for the backend of the opening Monday night doubleheader. They would like to either have Patriots @ Oakland or Patriots @ Seattle in that spot to generate ratings. That will suck if that happens, 1 it is at 10:30pm and 2 we would have to listen Greenburg, Golic and Ditka call the game. :vomit

As a Bills fan, I like hearing that. Although the Pats have just owned us for the past...what, 10 years or so? Though I think within a couple years the Bills could be much more competitive with NE.

As for guarantees...I doubt anyone will make guarantees next season. If they do, they're dumb. The only one that worked this past season was Burress' for the Super Bowl, and that wasn't as much a guarantee as a prediction. Big difference.

If we could get one of those west coast trips out of the way right up front, that would be great, even if it's a night game, as they'll have more time to adjust. I'd prefer it would be Oakland, since they're more likely to be an easy opponent to get us off on the right foot.

Really, all speculation is pointless until the schedules are out. (Who knows the exact date for that?)
