NFL Draft: Versatile Smith leads corner crop

I doubt very much Smith ends up a CB in the NFL. He'll be a damn fine free safety though. Ditto Chevis Jackson.

Don't know much about Smith...but that's the first time I've seen him ranked as the #1 corner. A lot of people like McKelvin, from what I've seen.

I really don't agree with their rankings at all, to be honest. I've been arguing for Talib as the best fit for the Pats, but you can make the arguments for some other guys as well. My number one priority is that the guy have decent height, I really think we need a taller corner who isn't dwarfed by some of these big receivers.

I haven't paid a whole lot of attention to either player, but from what I've seen, Talib reminds me a lot of Asante Samuel. He's a great ballhawk with excellent instincts. I think McKelvin is the best all-around corner in the draft. Though Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie is moving up, and may continue to with a good combine.

I think Mayock has Smith as his #5 corner - so there are people who see him as a legit corner prospect.

Those ranks suck.

Reggie Smith, #1, come on.

McKelvin is, right now, the best prospect at CB.

I'm not denying he's a legit corner prospect, it's just that I've never heard his name discussed as the top corner prospect.

That's likely because he finished the season injured and nobody's seen him play or work out since November.

i've heard in past about Smith possibly being the best CB if he moves to CB fulltime..but that was before rise of McKelvin and Cromartie

my flaw with Talib is he gets beat deep too often in college. our system..its key to be covering deep (no big plays, its a cover 3). its a big-play-safe/gambling system. Talib fails 1

While I don't agree that Smith should be #1, I also don't agree that McKelvin is the best CB prospect either.

name 1 better? i cant.

Make your argument but McKelvin is faster than Jenkins, Talib,Cason. Not sure who's faster straightline between him and Cromartie though

change of direction and closing speed is easily McKelvin over any CB. His footwork is great. He tackles very well. Whats he missing? Fact hes not 6"0, his hands get a lot of contact with ball but dont finish it. Also he hasnt versed top programs..and when he has..hes still dominated
