We should have had him down without needing the ref to bail us out. So close, damnit.

The bigger question is did our players think that the whistle was eminent and gave up before the whistle instead of playing to the whistle.

I don't know but looking at that picture is heartbreaking.

Was the point of Mike Carey coming out with this to induce suicidal thoughts? Because if so, Mr. Carey, mission accomplished.

You're so right. That picture is heartbreaking,if I didn't know it i would think it ended in a sack. :(

even more bothersome , our big D line couldnt bring an immobile QB to the ground inspite of being all over him

The only consolation, if you want to call it that, is it was 3rd down so there's a small chance they'd have converted the 4th and 18 or whatever it would have been. I know, it's a stretch but they would have had one more shot.

In real time the sack wasn't as guaranteed as some may think. The guys who had a hand on him weren't in a good position to collapse on him. Most were still being pushed around by the o-line.

I don't ever want to see it again, its to painfull. Its like watching the ball go threw Buckners legs.

That's the most heartbreaking picture of the SB that I've seen.

I have only seen this play once, and it was live in the stadium. I wish not to see a replay of it, but I imagine it's inevitable. It will sneak up on me some day.

From where I sat, I could tell it was close to a sack, but didn't realize how close until I read about it later. But what I do remember is that when he chucked the ball in the air, my immediate reaction was, "oh, that's got to be a pick."

Sigh.

I like Mike Carey. But I wish he would just shut up. It does me no good to read this stuff.

Or the ball sail through Samuel's hands.

Or Meriweather's.

The list goes on....

Take a look at the gallery. The whole play is beyond belief. How Tyree one hands the ball, with the ball on his helmet and Harrison hanging off his arm and the ball doesnt come loose....

The football Gods were definitely not in our favor.

I just watched it again on Inside the NFL and forget about almost blew the whistle, the bastard should have thrown the flag! first for facemask against Adalius Thomas from O'Hara and again during the great escape there are at two holding calls. From listening to the refs commentary he was enjoying the game, maybe a little too much.

It ranks up there with David Patten getting knocked out and the ball resting on his legs while his upper body was out of bounds.

He should have thrown the friggin flag. AD, Green and Seymour were all blatantly held on that play.

O'Hara has Seymour by the facemask in this pic. Right after this he jerked his head and thats when Seymour lost his grasp.

This play wasn't a miracle, it was a friggin travesty.

the ball didn't go through Meriweather's hands. He reached out and tried to catch the ball (coming in over his shoulder), and it went just past his reach. That would have been an amazing catch too.
