Just Curious: Does the losing coach usually stay on the field?

I'm just wondering, with all the media hate going on...
Typically, does the losing coach/ losing players stay on the field and watch the celebration? Do they congratulate the winners? Or do they typically go back in the locker room and let the winners celebrate?

The media is acting like what BB did was evil. Forget the 1 second as that was added later; if time had not been added back, and the coach was not BB, would the coach's actions have even been mentioned? (I'm thinking not)

There was a lot of confusion at the end of the game,hell,even cCughlin went out to shake hands.

Its next to impossible for the coaches to meet at the Superbowl as soon as the clock runs out. There's a hoard of media, confetti, water buckets, etc and rarely do they every meet. This is another pathetic attempt by the media to make BB look like a villain.

Its next to impossible for the coaches to meet at the Superbowl as soon as the clock runs out. There's a hoard of media, confetti, water buckets, etc and rarely do they every meet. This is another pathetic attempt by the media to make BB look like a villain.

back in the day there was no shaking of hands. Winning coach would get carried off the field and losing coach would do walk of shame to the tunnel. But since this has become the norm (shaking hands) they always do. BB shook TCs hand anyway. BB looked like he was told there was still a second left and a play needed to be run. BB mustve thought enough of this, i came over, shook the guys hand, im outta here. im not gonna stick around to watch Eli kneel down and then truck back over to TC again and shake his hand again. Some coaches may have. Thats not his style.

Who cares. The guy didn't realize there was time left until he was at mid field. He just lost the Super Bowl, you want him to turn around and make the walk of shame twice? What would he have said to Coughlin the second time that he didn't say the first? "Where's the post-game party?" .....?????

That might be true initially, but it was obvious that Mike Carey was telling him to go back to the sideline because there was still time left on the clock. I say that because you can clearly see Mike Carey stepping in front of Belichick as he's walking across the field to greet coughlin, but he just ignores carey the entire way. Not only that, but he left his team and went to the locker room early. The players were basically standing around on the side line without their head coach there. Like I said, that's just bad sportmanship anyway you slice it.

Mike Carey stepped infront of him during the entire walk to mid field, but he completely ignored him. Not only that, but theres no way you can tell me he didn't realize that there was still time left on the clock while he walked all the way to mid field, and then left the field with his security. That's just bad sportmanship.

Someone really needs to explain to me what practical purpose is served for players/coaches to plaster on a fake smile and give phony congratulations to their opposition after a loss. The other team won. I would think that should be enough, that they shouldn't need their defeated opponents to congratulate them. True "sportsmanship" to me is accepting your loss, and giving credit to the opposition for the win (i.e. no whining about "being the better team" or "the refs"); it's not running out merrily to shake hands with the opposition after losing a game that's important to you.

Belichick should just send out a memo saying that he will no longer be shaking hands with opposing coaches, whether the team wins or loses.

He didn't seem to have a problem doing it when he was blowing out the redskins 52-7, why not leave at the end of the third quarter of that game...i mean that game was practically over then too, right? I thought we preached, SIXTY MINUTES! Not 59:59!

This is totally ridiculous...they talked about this on EEI yesterday and how after a SUperbowl there is so much pandemonium..secirity people trying to push the losing team out..round up the winning team for the celebration..In other words chaos..the clock was 0:00...end of the game..there were people rushing down on the field.. what is the problem? He ended up ovr the Coughlin..wanted to congratulate him and thought the game was over. There are times when they run the last 4 5 seconds and that is it...as in SB 36...Frabkly, if he had gone back with teh chaos after, he MAY NOT have been able to shake TC's hand..and then these same people who be complaining again..UNderstand the hate is there..it's ALL there.
