What affect, if any, do you think the loss of this game had on the chemistry of this team.

Are the receivers gonna be pissed at the o-line, why would you not go for a field goal?, does the team have any confidence in the kicker, do you think the kicker thinks that the team dosen't. Is the rest of the team gonna be upset about the secondary, the front 4 got little pressure when it mattered. JD never really changed the offensive philosophy. Never brought in Evans or Faulk to help block. Is Brady gonna be pissed he was on his back most of the game?

I think a loss like this will speak volumes as to the strength of this team. I would love to see us come back more focused, I guess that would mean 19-0, but I don't give a rip about that. I just care about the championship.

Anyways, i antipicate the team being strong, coming back focused and addressing that secondary. I mean the Giant's needed to make some special plays to win.

Should be an interesting off-season....

I'm not worried about the impact of the loss on their attitude.

But I have concerns about certain players and their attitudes PRIOR to losing.

I was thinking about this as well, and was going to start a thread about it tonight.

I think chemistry is fine... no starting unit on the team was without fault in this game... there were standouts, like Welker, but you can find at least one starter in each unit that came up short at least once in the game. There won't be any finger pointing from this team, thats the media's job and ours as distraught fans.

So what it comes down to, IMHO, when you talk about chemistry, is, "Who are the leaders on this team?" Ofcourse Brady is the unquestioned leader of the offfense. But where was his leadership the past two weeks? Between the Giselle episode, his somewhat out-of-character comments regarding Plaxico's prediction, and his plethora of off-the-field activities.....is Tom the leader he was in 2003-2004? Leaders lead by example.... and by that measure you don't get better than Brady. The man's work ethic has been well documented, and is appreciated by this loyal fan as well millions of others. I'm only suggesting that the offense needs more leaders than just TB, as his focus is NOT just on football these days.

I thought it was impressive for Moss to come out and admit that they lost as a team....one that was unable to match the intensity of the Giants. I see Moss as a team captain next year and a leader on the team for his sheer competiveness alone.

One the defense, this is going to sound crazy, but I can't help but think the locker room lost a little something when Willie left. Seau has probably filled that role a little bit, and ofcourse Tedi, Vrabel, and Harrison are all proven leaders but you used to hear about how WMG would 'police' the locker room. Who will fill that role in the next few years as the aforementioned leaders end their careers? (hopefull not all at once!) We need the three on the D-line to step up , as well as AD and a young stud in the defensive backfield. What I wouldn't give for a Bob Sanders or Troy Polamalu on this defense. I think one is needed.

I agree.

Interesting, care to elaborate?

:)

Are you saying hard core leaders stepped out of character?

I think the players have a lot better attitude and perspective than some fans, so I'm not worried about it.

september??

dude, it's gonna start much earlier than that.....

i think you are gonna see some changes, just a hunch...

My opinion is that this team thought of itself the same way I thought of it:

That when push comes to shove and the game is on the line, they are the best 'winners' the NFL has ever seen.
I no longer believe this team has that characteristic (last year and this year disporved it) and I think they realize that too.

That is what puts a team on a MISSION.

Anyone who has competed at anything and done extremely well, reaches the point where they feel they win because of what they are, not because of what they do.
I sat in disbelief on sunday, because I never believed it was possible that if the Patriots were in the game they would fail to make the plays they needed to win. I think the players felt the same way. I would bet a lot of money that all 53 were CERTAIN Brady would get them the lead, and CERTAIN the D would preserve it. I bet many of them were CERTAIN Brady would get them a tie in the last 35 seconds.
I think that, whether you call it overconfidence, or whatever, definitely impacted this game. That 'fear' that things are turning wrong and time is running out, and the response to it, is what makes Champions.
Look at the Patriots:
4th SB in 7 years.
Best offense ever.
18-0
3-0 in SBs under BB.
Truly lost 1 playoff game they should have won in the BB era. (Colts last year, and the entire season was focussed on overcoming that, and after 18 weeks it seemed obvious they had)
Widely annointed as a 'big game team'.

They would almost be crazy not to think that they werent giong to come through no matter what. You cannot take a great characteristic that you've proven about yourself over and over, and not buy into. And you can't not be burned by it eventually.

I think that at some level this team felt it had proven a lot.
I'm not saying they slacked or werent intense. I'm saying they felt they had the Giants right where they wanted them.

Those thoughts are over. SAYING we haven't accomplished anything yet leading up to the 19th game of an undefeated season can very much be about convincing yourself. Knowing you havent accomplished anything yet comes from falling short when yuo were certain you wouldn't.

I expect BB and every player who returns to be on a mission next year. I think they will walk into the season with an unfinished job to complete.
I think this loss will live with them every minute until they win the SB, and that will be a positive thing.

No I really don't want to elaborate too much.

But I did see a player leave the huddle early at a crucial point.

And I wonder how important the game is to one of our biggest cogs.

That being said, the entire team was definitely overconfident, and a loss during the season would have humbled them a little bit.

Well, that's cryptic. Who are you talking about?

biggest cogs........is it wilfork?

when they start playing games that count and that's in September .and that's when the locker room attitude counts .not in august when there are a bunch of guys just trying to make the team. there is no carry over from year to year .

Don't leave me hanging here, who are you talking about?

Geez, Randy and Richard. Randy has been a model citizen but it bugs him bigtime that the ball doesn't come to him more often. He left the huddle at the most crucial point of the game.

I'm not worried about anyone else.

I knerw who you were talking about when I read players leraving the huddle. Yeah, I saw that too. I don't really know what that means though. I know I didn't like it when I saw it too, and I wonder if the players even knew that happened or if they even care.

To me it presents an image that someone is seperate from the team, or at least from the unit. I wish Moss wouldn't do that, even if he knows the play.

Also, who are we kidding, team chemistry starts a lot earlier than September. I would say it starts in the summer.

At any rate, let's hope the chemistry stays strong. BB and SP, as we all know, are gonna make decisions that are best for this team. If it means #54, and #80 or #37, or #55 gone, then so be it. If they prove to him they can still produce and it was more of a scheme thing, then make no mistake they will be back...
