The failure to protect Brady in the 3 quarters after it was obvious he was getting crushed is the greatest Super Bowl coaching failure I have ever seen.

Where the hell was the RB / FB assistance?

Where the hell were the draw plays?

Where the hell were the short passes in the first 3 quarters?

Where the hell were adjustments of ANY sort????!

McDaniels was a spectacular failure. I don't blame the OL.. I blame the coaching.

The Epic Fail wasn't Josh McDaniels. Honestly bud, for some reason the Pats couldn't handle what the Giants brought to the table.

It was simply lost on the field, in the trenches, between the hash-marks.

I don't think ANYONE thought the Giants had a chance. I know how you guys must be feeling... not just losing the one that mattered.. but having the entire NFL laughing under their breaths...

I feel bad for you guys. The feeling will go away eventually. I remember how bad I felt when the Skins got beat by the Raiders....

Unbelievable. The 31 year old just coordinated a record setting offense. He had a bad day, we all do. I had a bad day at work yesterday, and my boss didnt fire me over it. I'm glad it works that way. Josh is a young coach with a lot of promise and good people grooming him. He will learn from his mistakes (thats what I always tell the kids I coach, make a mistake, use it as an advantage.. gain knowledge), and will be better for it in the long run, whether its here or somewhere else.

Everybody wants blood right now, I'm with you. We want to know how it happened. We want to place blame, and in many cases, rightfully so. But what does that say about us as people? It makes us no different from the haters.

Not sure if firing him is the right thing to do. Maybe BB needs to not chat with the defense during the game, let Dean Pees do that and stand next to Josh...

Yeah, McDaniels missed a lot of blocks didnt he?
Come on,get a grip. When your offensive line gets beaten in individual battles, adjustments arent the problem.

But go ahead and tell me what adjustments YOU in your infinite genius would have made.
Keeping more blockers in? Did that
Run the ball more? Did that
Screens? Did that.
Spread the field? Did that.

Firing McDaniels is not the answer. It was a team loss on both sides. The Giants were just wanted it more.

Finally, the voice of reason.

Brady makes defensive reads and the center calls the blocking schemes. Exactly where is McDaniels in that equation? When Brady gets drilled in less than 2 seconds, no play is going to work (he could take a step and throw the ball away, but that doesn't do much for scoring points). And you cannot chip a blitzer coming straight up the middle over the center.

And in the event you tuned in at the Superbowl and missed the season, Brady did not take many hits and the offense broke the season scoring record. So that was not McDaniels' doing?

The offensive line chose the worst game to have a meltdown, plain and simple. Thankfully, Brady's head and torso are not still buried in the turf in Arizona so we fix the problems from that game and start anew next year. It sucks, but welcome to the real world where teams do not always win.

I agree, and already posted in another thread, the offensive coaching was offensive. However, I don't agree that McDaniels should be fired. BB bears some of the blame as well. And he was the one who spurned taking the three points in favor of going for it on 4th and 13. No, I'm not suggesting we fire BB instead - I'm just saying the coaching failures in this game had a bearing on the outcome. They had a bad day.

Agreed on all counts.

That lack of a FG try was ridiculous. We mercilessly mocked Schottenheimer when he did something less egregious.

I've been saying for ages that BB would get outcoached more times each year. He's just been studied so thoroughly that he can't have nearly the advantage he used to.

LOL. One of the most prolific offenses of all time and an AFC championship and now let's fire the offensive coordinator because he couldn't do the one thing that no offensive coordinator in history has ever been able to do: call plays for an offensive line-less offense.

I am 31years old and have no recollection of that game. No offense, but is it too self-centered of Patriot fans to think this was the biggest SB in NFL history? First chance to go 19-0 and first team to win 11 road games in a season. Skins/Raiders/Phins/Cowboys/Steelers are all minor to me right now.

The Redskins-Raiders Super Bowl is an outstanding example. Yes, some fans have a point that the shot at 19-0 made Super Bowl 42 special. But in 1983, the Redskins had what very much was that era's version of the 2007 Patriot offense. The total meltdown against the Raiders was every bit as stunning, if not even more so in that the Skins got only 9 points.
