I know this is my first time posting, however, I really wanted to get this off my chest and actually take advantage of the opportunity to do something to support my fellow Pats fans and the team.

Make no mistake about it, this investigation that Arlen Specter is trying to start by calling on Brady to testify as well as Matt Walsh is a shot at the league over the Comcast television fight - with the enduring legacy of the Patriots dynasty used as fodder for political points.

If nobody stops Specter, we'll be hearing about SpyGate for the rest of the summer with new charges and accusations going on throughut the year.

This is grossly unfair to the players who gave every bit of their soul for us as fans and for us as fans who now have a legitimate team that will be talked about as one of the NFL's elites for years to come, no matter what happened.

Specter thinks he can score some political points back hme in Pennsylania for this too. Of course, I'm sure Eagles fans (of which he is a diehard) will be hooting and hollering for Brady's head, for Belichick to be suspended and for the team's reputation to be tainted forever.

The one thing I see however, is that Arlen Specter is not the hai of the Senate Judiciairy Committee, the committee he is demanding Goodell, Walsh and Brady testify at.

We all know this witch hunt is a waste of taxpayer dollars. o do a lot of other people. Unfortunately, don't be decieved into thinking nobody wil be paying attention. Remember all the attention on the steriod hearings? Do yu remember all the attention on the destroyed CIA tapes from a couple of weeks ago? No?

That's because people will always gravitate to scandal.

There is something we can do to stop this, right in its tracks.

If Specter wants to unfairly taint the Pats image in a witch hunt, then maybe we need to find out who else might need to be subpeonaed as well.

Cheating in spots is not limited to whether or not somebody spied or stole signals. If anything, spying pales in comparison to taking a drug that has claimed an untold number of lives.

And this form of cheating actually began in the NFL right in the state of Pennsylvania. According to former Buffalo Bills linebacker Jim Haslett, ``It started, really, in Pittsburgh. They got an advantage on a lot of football teams. They were so much stronger (in the) '70s, late '70s, early '80s,'' Haslett said. ``They're the ones who kind of started it.''

Yes. The same Pittsburgh Steelers who at least 75% of Pennsylvanians have worshipped over the ages and pointed to as their dynasty team. The same Steelers whose current team doctor has yet to have been called to testify about steroid use in the past or present.

The Steelers definitely had a great team in the 70s. However, using the Greg Easterbrook standard, they have never come clean about their use of steroids much like Belichick and the league have never come clean about the use of those tapes.

And the last time I checked, those tapes never killed anybody - unlike the 18 former Steelers who have died since 2000.

Now Arlen Specter is not the chair of that judiciary committee anymore - he lost it last year when the Democrats took over the Senate.

Looking at the current chair, I see that it's Patrick Leahy - otherwise known as the Senior Senator from Vermont. Right below him on the committee roster is none other than Massachusetts' own Ted Kennedy. Below the both f them on the committee's roster happens to be its newest member - Sheldon Whitehouse from Rhode Island.

Now we can sit around and let Specter bully around the Patriots and forever tarnish their dynasty. Or we can stop it now.

If you live in Massachusetts, Rhode Island or Vermont I suggest contacting one of these three and ask them about expanding Specter's probe to include the Steelers. Think Tom Brady would garner a lot of attention forced to testify in a committee room about SpyGate? How about Terry Bradshaw? Heck, expand it to the Cowboys too. There's evidence about them as well.

The quickest way to blow this thing in Specter's face is to give him what the majority of people who vote for him don't want - an investigation of their beloved Steelers. The only way it will happen is if Leahy, Kennedy and Whitehouse hear from you about it.

Below is their contact info via email and telephone. I used to work on Capitol Hill and I know they do pay attention to your phone calls. You will speak to a staff person or intern who takes the info down and as a rule of thumb, they take each call and letter as representative of 100 voters. You can send an email as well, but letters (not form letters) make a big difference and are taken seriously (since somebody cared enough abut the issue to sit down and write a short letter to them.) For tips on what to say, go to this site.

Send this out to all your friends and family and put a stop to this crazy witch hunt. If you want to save yourself some money, the toll free number to the Capitol switchboard , by the way, is

I am a Pennsylvania resident and have already written Senator Specter a letter and asked him to reconsider his position

RIVA, you are missing the real reason - - it's even more sinister than you think.

Follow the money.

Comcast.

The Eagles angle is cute and gets Joe and Josephine Public all upset quickly, but you and they are devouring the Bread and Circus that Specter is trying to fool you with.

Comcast is his #2 money donor (#1 is Comcast's Law Firm, by the way).

This is a Senator who has declared he is no longer seeking re-election in 2010. He is beholden to NO ONE - - except his financer.

You are merely going for his smokescreen if you are going to make your crusade based on "he's a Philly fan".

If you really want to go for his GONADS and the real crime of what he did - - argue for a SENATE INVESTIGATION of his ties to Comcast and his influence peddling on their behalf with the NFL about their TV deal - - and how he had over 150 days to bring up Spygate, yet waited until the very morining of the Super Bowl to threaten Tom Brady.

Good. I'm thinking he has nothing to lose with his constituents unless every Pennsylvania voter west of Bucks County (where Steelers Country is) starts realizing that Specter's witch hunt is only going to backfire on them and eventually him.

How fast will this end when he gets barraged with angry calls from his constituents in Western PA? I say pretty fast. And if he wants to talk about criminal activity, I say send out a subpeona to that Steelers doctor who got caught distributing steroids last year, not someone who may or may not have broken NFL rules.

I hate doing this, because I have a ton of respect for that 70s Steelers team, but, what was done there was ten times worse.

And unfortunately, taxpayer dollars are going to get wasted on Specter's show no matter what. We may as well make him pay for it.

One flaw. Specter is an Eagles fan, not a Steelers fan.

Sigh, he is not running again in 2010.

He will retire and get a very nice cushy job lobbying on behalf of Comcast. It's the way of Washington.

Please read up on this. You are falling for his smokescreen.

He brought up the very same Anti Trust threat against the NFL when he complained how his BELOVED Eagles had suspended TO for 4 games in 2005?

Now, who do you think his financial DADDY is?

I agree with you, but nobody's going to get up in arms about it outside of New England.

But the media attention on a line of old Steelers sitting in a committee room will completely diminish the sttention on spygate and show how stupid the allegations were (allegedly breaking rules versus criminal activity).

Plus, Leahy, Kennedy and Whitehouse won't go after him on the omcast money. Who knows what ties they have. Thjey have the attention when they get to the floor and will get more out of the Steelers info than the Comcast deal.

I really feel that the attention on the Steelers will put SpyGate in its proper context compared to the Steelers steriod scandal.

A non-story.

Let him get his cushy job. He'll get it no matter what. But let the rest of the country see just how stupid the attention paid to Spygate really is as compared to previous dynasties.

Your continued focusing on the smokescreen "fan" reasons for all this has Arlen Specter Esquire sitting back rubbing his hands and exclaiming "Excellent".

You continue to ignore that he went after the NFL in 2005 based on how ANDY FREAKIN' REID was handling TO!!!!! 80% of all Philly fans were siding with Reid on that one!!! How long do YOU want to be fooled?

You asked, how we can pay back Specter?

Go for the real thing that he has to hide. The real motivation. His true scandal.

Considering that nothing illegal happenned, I'm not sure what Specter's problem is. Maybe he should be calling the refs too for their colts bias. And maybe we need a congressional hearing that holding call during the interception runback on the colts-san diego game. ridiculous

I think when everything is said and done, the Judiciary Committee will not touch this unless something comes to light beyond what we know that forces action. Two of the members of the Judiciary Committee are from New England including the powerful Ted Kenedy. There is already a lot of people even outside New England who feel that Specter is overstepping his bounds. I know people who hate the Patriots and felt they got off too lightly who are adamently against the government butting into NFL business.

This isn't steriod use where an illegal activity is prevalent within the sport and the league is doing little or nothing to stop it. This is a case of violation of league rules and the commissioner offered swift and harsh penalties for the action.

Just because Arlen Specter feels that his Eagles were cheated doesn't mean that he has the right to abuse his political powers to do something especially since there isn't a shread of evidence to support that.

I do hope that if the Pats do get caught up in this political witch hunt, they do a scorched earth policy and bring up questions why no one seems to be in the slightest bit concerned that Kerry Collins admitted his coach colluded with another coach and his coach did not really deny it. Or how the Cowboy and Dolphins cheated under Jimmy Johnson. Or how the Eagles cheated with Ron Jaworski as the QB. Or how the Redskins cheated with George Allen as coach. Or many of the other rumors of cheating that have been ignored over the years.

Exactly. Make it really uncomfortable for anyone and everyone to go after the Pats. Of ocurse Specter and Comcast will have their day getting back at the NFL no matter what happens, however, we opportunity steal his thunder during his moment of glory.

Don't think that the leverage all those NFL owners besides Kraft have will come into sway once this expands beyond the Patriots.

All we need to do is get the bowl rolling by ensuring the three New England Senators on the committee start making it uncomfortable for everyone else involved.

We all know everybody in PA outside of the Philly metro are Steelers fan. I went dor to door once during the Rendell campaign in Altoona and actually saw someboy with a Franco Harris picture next to a picture of JFK at the front door.

WTF are you talking about?

whatever he wants to on his PATRIOT FAN message board...what is YOUR problem with that you arrogant bigmouthed troll...

I want to know more about this:

Authorities have questioned an associate team physician for the Steelers as part of a yearlong investigation into illegal Internet sales of anabolic steroids, according to a published report.

Dr. Richard A. Rydze, an internal medicine specialist at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, was questioned last month about a $150,000 purchase of testosterone and human growth hormone, according to a report published Tuesday in the Times Union in Albany, N.Y.

Now do I think the Steelers cheated? I don't know. I think somebody like Greg Easterbrook would assume they did cheat unless evidence is shown to the contrary. So I say let them have their day in court, or, more likely, in front of a raving Ted Kennedy.

Fair enough...

And Joker... how ya been ol' boy? I can't believe they haven't banned you yet. Your mods must have the patience of a Saint.

I agree....but I think BOTH can be thrown at Spector......actually theer are other things...as well IN reverse order of importance 3---I agree the Steelers
should be mentioned..esp video and them...etc etc.context of what spygate is....that is OK...2---IF he is looking at integrity of the game..look at the piped in crowd noises..in Indy..bring in the QB to coach blackout being passed over by some teams..and bring up the officials..and teh Colts game..and seattle-Steelers in the Bowl.. Integrity of the game? Then look at it all... 3---Bt far teh most important Comcast and the NFL...money to Spector..Sen from Comcast...do you think if there was NOT buckets of money that he would not being doing this to leverage for them?? If the NFL gave in do you think he would care?? Investigate him for ethics violations... three layered approach...
