I've got to get this off my chest.....

As I would guess with 95% of all Patriot fans did, as soon as the Brady threw incomplete on 4th down, I couldn't look at the TV screen. Could not watch another crushing defeat that didn't just stick a knife in your gut, but through your heart as well. As bad as I feel, I cannot imagine the heartache our loved Patriots must be feeling even as I write this.

I was determined to put it past me as fast as I could. I woke up monday morning and compartmentalized the pain. I went into work, put on my best face I could and complimented the Giants on playing a great game. They just wanted it more I guess. But they played great. They played like our boys do in big games. They didn't make mistakes and made plays when they needed to....Just like the Patriots have for the past 7 years.

But, by the time I got home, I had no choice but to turn on the TV and take my medicine as a fan.

What I heard makes me sick to my stomach. It seemed that everyone who had an opinion was taking thier shots at the Patiots. Oh, and by the way, the Giants won the SuperBowl.....But Bill Belichick's behavior was deplorable, the cheater finally got his due...yada yada yada.....

So I ask.....WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH THIS COUNTRY? The Patriot players are nothing but respectful, honorable people who compliment every team and coach and gave it thier best shot and came up short of impossible history and the media and that piece of sh!t Arlen Effing Spector and Rome is burning and Mike and Mike and everyone of the useless rat bastards on ESPN are still taking thier shots at a group of guys and thier coach (who truly is a tool, but a genius nonetheless), who played thier hearts out and lost.

The Steelers, 49'ers and Cowboys are being remembered as dynasties that are fondly remembered while the Patriots, probably the greatest collection of heart and soul ever assembled, has been treated as an unwelcomed guest since day effing one. Why does the media honor past champions but treat these guys as pieces of crap? Sure Brady gets his deserved due, but outside of that? Honorable mention for some, but not welcomed to the club on the top floor.

I love this country, but letting the media form public opinion is disgracing sport and character in this great country. I would have loved to see the SB stand and cheer the effort our guys put forth on achieving what was never done....but instead, they are getting kicked in the gut and called losers.

If you have gotten this far on my personal rant, thank you for your time. I had a great year with all of you here and look forward to future corespondance but right now, I am in a dark place with little good left to say about the state of the fans and NFL and Arlen Effing Spector.

Follow this advise (you'll thank me later): Stop watching ESPN.

The Cowboys were despised by many fanbases far more (or at least ast much) as the Pats are now.

You can't compare the Pats dynasty to the Steelers, 49ers, Cowboys, etc. There hasn't been enough time to put it in an historical perspective; give it 5 or so years after Belichick leaves before coming to a conclusion on the overview of the Pats dynasty, in my opinion.

I turned it off after the incompletion, and will not watch Espn or listen to Espn radio again for quite some time..

ESPN.....ESpecially Stupid Pompous Nonsense....
remember that the haters are out there and will be THIS year we know who they are..and they need to be remembered...from how gown idiots like D&C
and Tomase...as well as the national ones..
ALSO remember that teh media capital of the country is NY..all hype..
I agree it is poor..as far as Spector goes...he is the sen from COMCAST..enough said.

I actually didn't see the highlights of the Colts loss last year until a few weeks ago when there some some QB special on NFL Network with Brady, Manning, and Favre. I'm giving it a good shot here too but I suspect this will be much harder.

I agree that your players are a great group of honorable guys. I was amazed at some of the post-game interviews I saw: true class. No one blaming anyone else, just a lot of respect for the Giants & humility. They really did look like the team that had been there before, and handled the loss with grace.

Like it or not, BB leaving the field looked awful. He HAS to know that. I know he doesn't care for the media, but you have to know what the impression of that is.

All of that said, as a fan base - and I'm not talking about you specifically - you can't go through a season proudly proclaiming an "Eff you world tour" and celebrating every "eff you TD" at the end of a blowout & not expect other team's fans to hate you. Sorry about that.

Oh, and Dallas was universally reviled, as well. San Fran, not so much.

Step away from the TV and radio, you'll feel better.

I'm no huge Colts fans, but if the Pats and Colts are today's Cowboys and 49ers, it's easy to see which team fits which (as well as the 3 Super Bowls compared to one).

I seem to remember Cowboys fans getting their panties in a twist every 5 seconds about how the 49ers were perceived as "classy" while they were hated (of course, the fact that they had quite a number of felons in their team didn't matter a jot to them).

Here's the thing: He went over, hugged coughlin; then left.
I can understand if someone in the media thinks he should've congratulated other players; but thats just not BB's personality. He was dejected and probably just felt like going back to his hotel and sleeping it off. How many of us fans kept the tv on to see the giants celebrate? I bet very few. As soon as the patriots made their last play, i left the room.

The media's problem is that they spinning this story to make it appear like he disrespected the game by walking off with 2 seconds left (not the case, as the clock ran down to zero; then the 2 seconds got added back on after he was in the locker room).

If your team is ever universally attacked the way this team was, you'd understand.

As for BB, he'll be maligned no matter what he does, I'd love it if he actually did give the camera and everyone else the finger.

After Brady's last throw I waited to see if there was a flag...when there was none, I shut the TV off....Since that moment my sports information has come from this site and WEEI via the Internet (since I'm in Pennsylvania)....that's it. I'm sure I'll rejoin the world at some point...just not sure when. But this site is the best place for Pats fans around the world. I really wished I was in New England some place, surrounded by Patriots supporters, but that's not possible, so I'm here. :)

Just like the shoving camera incident. BB was doing his job by walking over to shake the rat's hands; and the media (in the case the camera guy for the media person) tries to get in the way then they're all shocked that he shoved the guy. Get the f out of the way and you won't get shoved. Your job is to report, not to act like papparazzi.

The media wants to be part of the story. They want you to tell the story to them so they don't have to do any analysis. And they like they enjoy overblowing stories.

Huh?

The Cowboys were doing drugs and getting arrested every week. The Patriots have had fewer arrests than the Colts.

Plus the Niners won 5 Super Bowls, not one.

I'm sure you have Patriot friends nearby (we're all over the place!) Take a lesson I think we have learned from these Patriot players. Win with dignity and graciousness......lose with even more. Tip your hat to Giant fans for a great season.

So you're saying the whole league hated the Colts in '04 because they rubbed it in long after the game was decided?

Um, no they didn't.

They hate the Patriots for one reason only: the Patriots are the winningest team of the 2000s. That's the one and only reason why.

It's true. Other "celebrities" have also been maligned for pushing back on the paparazzi / media's behavior, and who does the maligning? The media.... because it's "the public has a right to know" when in reality it's about the media working on ratings/sales.

I know the Niners won 5 Super Bowls, fella.

I'm talking about perception. The Colts are seen as the "classy" team; this gets up Pats fans nose. Same with the 49ers for the Cowboys.

During the rivalry years, the 49ers won one Super Bowl to the Cowboys three. Rather like the Colts currently have one to the Pats 3 during the Manning/Brady rivalry years.

That's the biggest reason, but certainly not the only reason...

That's a bad comparison, though I would agree that if the Colts had been working on their 4th SB in a decade at that point, there would have been more haters for them. There is surely a jealousy factor.

There were lopsided scores in the Colts '04 season, but their fan base & media surrogates (see: Bill Simmons) did NOT take blowouts to the next level by declaring an "eff you world tour." Pats fans have their reasons, but that doesn't sit well with a group of fans looking at a 30 point deficit on the scoreboard.
