I am still asleep, dreaming that I am typing on Pats.com. It is Saturday night and I am having a nightmare of a worst-case scenario before the big game. Probably from typical anxieties about the game.
The dream has been horrible so far: our offense came out flat in the biggest game of the season, the playcalling was lacklustre, Samuel dropped a likely game-winning interception, Manning ran out of a sack and made a key first down on a third and long play, and craziest BB walked off the field before the game was officially over. Even the Pats.com message board was down after this nightmare game.
Crazy dream, right? That kind of stuff would never happen
So, given this unlikely series of events, the only rational thing to conclude is that I am in a nightmare right now. I will wake up, and this post won't actually exist on the page, it is really Saturday night. The Super Bowl is tomorrow.
Seriously, though. Last night was my biggest disappointment as a sports fan ever. However, today I've been telling myself, the Pats gave us an amazing season. The Ravens game gave me enough of an emotional high to last a full week. Thanks, Patriots, for the months of enjoyment this season. Last night sucked, I felt like part of me died, that we had missed out on a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. We will not have that chance again. We will have to listen to Mercury Morris, Ditka, and company forever, rather than shutting them up forever.
But rather than focus on the nightmare, I'll try to focus on the positives. Anything else is just too painful right now.
