The really sad part is i think gostkowski could have made the kick. But obviously belichick didn't have the faith in the young man that he had in vinatieri. On that note thank god the colts got adam v just wish he was as good as when you guys had him.

As I said in the "Kicker" thread, Gost was clearly a little too tight--which we could see on the opening kickoff.

Personally, I think Gostowski's better off not having tried. If he missed, we'd all be screaming for his head.

I'm not doubting that he's going to be a great kicker--he shows all the signs that he'll be awesome for years to come.

What's wrong Patsy fan? You can talk all the sh*t you want the whole season but now that you got punched in the mouth you're gonna cry like a baby about other people talking sh*t to you. You're pathetic. Even now, in the embarrassment of defeat, you're trying to talk sh*t. You Patsy fans and your players are the biggest f@gots in sports, and it was sweet sweet justice to watch you f*ckers choke so badly. Suck on that b*tches. You lost, you choked, YOU FAIL!!

it's too bad you'll never taste 18-0. It's a shame you have nothing more productive to do.

We didn't win it this year, but we've still won 3 Superbowls already. And I don't know about you but that feels pretty damn good to me. When we win the next one I hope you choke on your tears...

I for one am not going to take sh*t from any fans of the teams that the Pats beat this year. In my mind, it's twisted logic that these jealous haters feel like their team won last night. 18-1 means our team was better than every single team this year except for the Giants. I, like most of you here, feel like I did after Aaron Boone right now.

But that's because we were privileged enough to root for a team that had such unbelievably high expectations and still did something that no team has ever done before. Given our draft this year, and our schedule next season, you better believe that if any team could go 19-0, next year's Pats could do it.

So congratulations to the Giants and their fans, they played an amazing game. And the rest of America, you can still go eff yourself because the Pats will still beat the sh!t out of your team next year and your team will never taste 18-0. So keep talking sh!t and being jealous haters, and we'll keep rooting for the best team in the NFL.
personally i think 18-1 makes you guys the 43rd best team of all time

no hate here, that was one of the best superbowls i've ever seen, from both teams

great drives at the end, really amazing plays too

that game was so good it made me respect eli manning, i didn't think that was possible, but it happened

So we lost the Super Bowl. It happens. I don't like it but it happens. I should count my blessings that my team has been there 6 times in 23 years. I think there are several teams out there that have not been once.

And about that 18-0 going in. No team started 18-0 and I believe that the 2007 Patriots had a much tougher track to negotiate than the 1972 Dolphins. Some team has to wear the collar as best team not to win a CHampionship, why not us?

And where was your team? A basement dweller or just a decent team that the Pats embarrassed this year and will beat again next year. Look at how pissed you are right now, it's hilarious. You want so badly to tell yourself that "the Pats fans really got what was coming to them." Yeah we got a season your team could only dream of with a disappointing ending. Atleast we were their watching for a reason other than vindictive envy. And our team is still better than yours. So here you are, on a Pats fan messageboard hoping that you can come in and make people feel sh!tty.

Well, tough luck because unless your a Giants fan, you have nothing to celebrate, just a bunch of pent up frustration against a fan base of a team that yours will lose to next year, again. Whining? I think not. Giants fans should be happy, and if you could read you'd see that I congratulated them. But other losers whose lives and teams suck so bad that they take the time to come here and say the laughable garbage you just spewed as if you or your team did anything worthwhile are just amusing.

You're insane. Giants fans can talk all the crap they want to Pats fans.
As a Colts fan, I was thrilled to see the Patriots lose. And as a New Yorker, I was happy to root for the home team last night.

But my team got knocked out in the first round, not much trash talking I can do about that. However, Giants did something to your team last night that nobody will ever forget. You had a chance to brag about being the best team in the history of the game. You had a place in history all but carved out until New York showed up and showed you who's your daddy.

And so the season ends. After all the spygate, after all the us-against-them rallying by your coach, after all the pundits had crowned the Pats as the greatest team in history of the game, the 2007 Patriots are owners of the most heart-wrenching defeat in the history of sports. Never to be in the same conversation as the greatest team ever. Not even close.

Non-Giants fans can revel in that fact and take a collective sigh. Giants fans can talk all the trash they want. Their team has earned that right.

18-1 is noble if you win the super bowl like the 84 Niners or 85 Bears. But to win 18 games in a row and lose the only one that really means something?

That's tragic, hysterical and deserving all rolled into one.

Call me when Peyton has 3 rings.

Yeah that's great and all, but the Pats were there and the Colts didn't make it past the Divisional game. You hope against the Pats, that's fine, but trying to convince yourself that your season was less tragic is what's hysterical. Your QB choked again, you lost at home to a team we beat twice this year that beat yours twice. The Pats beat the Colts, remember? Guess whose expectations will be higher next year, the Pats or Colts?

We tasted immortality and came up short. Your team got to sit home and watch the Pats taste immortality. So be happy that the Giants won, that's fine, but I'd trade 18-1 with a loss in the Superbowl with the mediocre season the Colts had any day.

You didn't taste immortality. You flirted with it, got stood up at the door and ultimately slapped in the face by its angry boyfriend.

Lol. How sad for you. The Pats got to the doorstep but unfortunately for you it's a gated community and the Colts got tased by the security guards at the gate. Keep trying though.

so was this season a moral victory for you? You have to admit that 18-0 is great and all but after losing the superbowl you are basically the 2001 Seattle Mariners. You can fall back on, yeah we went 18-0 no other team has ever done that but bottom line the season is a failure. Can you acknowledge that?

Absolutely, of course I'm extremely disappointed. But to me, unless you're a Giants fan you have no right to talk sh!t about a team that mopped the floor with your team this year. Disappointment comes when you have high expectations and fail to meet those expectations. I fail to see how that's worse than having minimal expectations and even managing to fall short anyway.

Mark my words, in this era of 24 hour tabloid sports media, no team will become as successful as the Patriots without having the media pander to jealousy by validating the hatred with made up controversies. If you don't understand that then you are just another sheep.

I agree about the 24 hour tabloid sports media, but I was under the impression that ESPN and most major news outlets were in love with the pats. Sure now that they lost they may be scrambling to justify it but all year long they were media darlings. spygate, though brought up a lot was pretty much swept under the rug and made to be a non issue until some new info came out this week. I mean, didnt the pats have their own segment on the scroll of ESPN news.

What made up controversies are you referring to. Spygate was not made up. Moss's allegations were not made up. BB being a grump was not made up, and in all 3 of these cases they were taken light heartedly. Spygate was poo pooed by most as all teams try to gain an advantage. Surprisingly the media took Moss's side and portrayed the woman as a money driven witch and BB was laughed at for his monotone.

Not to get into the whole argument again, but while "spygate" was not made up, but it was milked for everything it could be by the media who ignored the fact that you can videotape defensive signals legally from anywhere but the sidelines. And your example of "new info" coming out this week is perfect. That same Rams rumor was written about and dismissed at the beginning of the season, but the media is trying to make it sound like something new has come to light.

I can understand the Hate for BB, I don't agree with it, because I think the media sh!ts on him whenever they can, but what gets me is that you don't seem to hate the Pats as much as you hate the nonstop coverage of them. I wish people would take the time to make that distinction. Brady's not a media whore. He doesn't do excessive amounts of commercials and isn't all over the talk shows, but because the media chooses to focus on his success and obsess over him, that makes people dislike him? This makes no sense to me.

Basically Pats fans feel that the media, with the exception of a few, hate the Pats and are pretty open about it. They may cover them a lot, but to us it's all negative stuff, and to other fans it's the "media darlings" idea. It's just about perspective.

yeah, it really is perspective I suppose. I didnt follow Spygate close enough but I know reporters would just ask opposing teams all the time what they thought, then I would listen to ESPN radio and the radio guys would blast anyone who said I think they cheated and say it was a dead issue and they got fined and paid the price and it should be over but then the media would bring it up again. really weird.

Brady isnt a media whore but he is overexposed like Britney and that entices resentment. Im a charger fan so I obviously have a gripe with the pats and not just my perception of how they are portrayed but i still felt like the media was goo gooing over the pats for a long time, especially ESPN. Im sure no one is thinking the chargers were portrayed as media darlings. everyone thinks theyre whiny babies who talk too much.

I agree, the Chargers felt the glare of the negative media spotlight this year. Imagine how bad it would be if the Chargers were 18-0 and going for their 4th SB? How much would the country hate LT and Philip Rivers. It comes with the territory, I suppose, but it amazes me how different your view of the spygate coverage is to mine. Hatred of too much success and overexposure is expected and wouldn't bother me, except in this case I think it went too far and America seems to now want to believe that the Pats Superbowls didn't count in the first place which is an absolutely insane level of hatred for a team that's accomplished so much.

The problem is that people tend to treat success as a zero-sum good: in order for me to be more successful, you have to be less successful. Of course, the irony is that the reason the Patriots are successful is because they take the opposite approach: "Make your co-workers more successful, and you'll be more successful."

People are so quick to vilify success out of jealousy and misguided thinking; that, combined with the relative blandness of Brady and Belichick--and (prior to 2007) the lack of any other "lightning rods," unfortunately make them an easy team to hate.

Thanks. Just as dumb as some trolls are to generalize about all Pats fans, the reverse is also not true. I don't have a problem with people rooting for the underdog and against the Pats for the reasons you listed, but it's absolutely pathetic that some fans of teams that went 4-12 this year or just lost to the Pats feel like they have one up on us.

18-0 and going to the Superbowl will always be better than going 4-12 and being classless enough to try and talk sh!t when the team whose stadium you rent beat the Pats in the Superbowl. Chant 18-1, I'll chant 4-12.

you know what sucks
the whole "18-1" chant
seems eerily similar to the "1918" chant
we were tryin for 19, but instead ended at 18
ugh, i know i shouldnt even post this, but this evil thought entered my head and i had to share

That chant has no merit seeing as 18-1 was still a better season than any other team minus the giants. That would bother me as much as the cheaters chant, which is not at all. Just other fans trying to bring you down for your team having an unbelievable (yes disappointing but still unbelievable) season. If anyone brings that up just remind them how we are still the most successful franchise of this decade. Once we (God willing) win our next one this will all be irrelevant.
