Anyone's heads to roll from yesterday?

i'm way, way too close to form a final opinion. a few thoughts:

Asante (literally) had the game in his hands on the final drive. I don't see us making more than a token offer to keep him.

belichick spent the last five minutes of the first quarter on the sidelines with the defense after Eli ate up nearly 10 minutes with his first possession, ignoring muchy of the patriots' first possession. Dean Pees is a sacred cow, so it's hard to see BB going in that direction.

i thought the playcalling was uninspired, but I wasn't on the sidelines and don't know how tough the Giants D really was. But, i, for one, am not a big Josh McDaniel fan today. maybe i'll cool down about that.

it's tough to blame the O line when it is under assault, but there were some tough penalties and brady wasn't protected. Scarnecchia's another sacred cow, so it's tough to see the blame landing there.

I don't believe what I'm reading. This team went 18-1 and heads are going to roll. Would this this thread even be here if that pass would have bounced of Tyree's helmet.

And BTW, Josh does not block. And BB knows every play that's being called and can overrule them.

Come down from the ledges and make some sense.

Some are jumping..some are pushing others over...I agree..18-1...a LOT does not need to be done..some things..yes...

[sarcasm on]

Fire every damn one of them. From the idiot in the red sweatshirt down the water boy. Pete Carol turned down the job with the Redskins. Bring him back in.

Then cut or trade every player on the team. We might get a 7th round pick for Brady, but most will just need to be released.

[sarcasm off]

Why is this thread even here. We went 18-1..... And got beat by the best D-line in the NFL.

Well, actually many people are making sense. Many of the "holes" we need to fill on this team were exposed. Every team changes, heck, look what we did last year and we almost came up prefect.

So relax, teams do change. But one thing that does not change -- and I agree with you on this on -- true Pats fans appreciate what this team has done this year. Big time.

But our OL, LB's, and TE situations need to be addressed.

And I don't want Randy going anywhere. Nope.

I think this thread is relevant. Something went dreadfully wrong last night.
Somebody could be responsible. It should'nt have happened.
The film won't lie.
I'm not calling for any heads, but some may roll anyway.

I hate to say this but depending what comes out from Spygate II, Belichick's head could be the one that rolls.

Based on the game, the only ones you can really look at are the OL and none of them will be gone. I could see Kaczur being demoted to a versaile backup role, though.

This is what kept me up last night. If we had won, and he got gassed or suspended, at least we would have had 19-0, the history all that stuff.

Not only we do we not have 19-0, I'm having a hard time envisioning BB getting out of this off-season unscathed.

Didn't Belichick say that if you're not getting better, you're getting worse?

There are some changes headed the Pats way.

Count on it.

Up until last night we thought we had the best d line in the NFL.

nope, not even close Giants led the league in sacks and give up less yards per running carry.

Our o-line is one of the best. But their d line is better than our oline.

Unlike when we rebuilt our team to beat the colts we should not rebuild to beat the Giants only way we face them is in the SB.

it sucks fellas, it really sucks...

but maybe we can do it again next year....mcdaniels will be more mature, our D will hopefully be a little bit better, and our Offense will have the one thing they did not have this year...chemistry

I agree. BB will use the last 5-6 games of the year (maybe going back to Phila.) to show everyone in the organization that the offense covered up for the defense. If you re-read Patriot Reign, you'll see how he tore apart the performances of several key players after the 2002 season. This team needs more speed in the back 8. All season, I was waiting for Rodney Harrison to get in at least one kill-shot on a WR or TE. Never saw it. Couldn't catch anyone. Same for Tedy, unfortunately. I think BB will do what he did in 2003--sign and draft multiple defensive backs. Expect to see 2-3 new starters at DB and another 1-2 at LB.

The defense needs an infusion of youth, however, Bill seems to prefer older linebackers, so hopefully he drafts some good corners, otherwise it will be difficult for the defense to get significantly younger. Gay and Hobbs were shaky this year, in my opinion. Harrison has lost a few steps. Not much in the way of free agents out there.

McDaniels name rings out pretty loud...

Amen to that.....I would be very happy to see that guy pack it up and go....and get some kind of creative, seasoned vet to come in here and properly UTILIZE the weapons we had......Cripes....Charlie wasn't always perfect but he sure was creative and COULD MAKE ADJUSTMENTS.....If they are blitzing the sh(t out of you.......get more help from TE/RB....like I said earlier.....activate a DEFENSIVE FRIGGIN LINEMAN AND PUT HIM IN THE BACKFIELD TO BLOCK FOR MARONEY OR PICK UP THE BLITZ COMING IN>...Remember Charlie used to put Seymour in at the goal line to open holes for the RB.....? Vrabel was Charlie's idea originally too......But BB will never get rid of McDaniels....In all honesty, I wouldn't be shocked by a BB resignation ....perish the thought ....but this one has to hurt him badly.....and look at all he has sacrificed....kids....marriage.....I could see him packing it in........gawd I hope not of course!!

Just a thought, but how successful could BB be with a 4-3 defensive front if he focused on Green, Seymour, Wilfork, and Warren as the front four? That would require less need of "smart" LBs. How would that change the secondary or would it never work with the Pats without too much rebuilding?

A friend and I were discussing the same thing this afternoon. There seem to be a bunch of good defensive linemen on the team...maybe it's time to go 4-3 base?

I'd like to see us get a serious pass rushing game too.

Perhaps the lessons learned last night (solid pass rushing can kill even a great opponent) will lead us to make similar defensive moves.

Eli had FOREVER to throw last night... it was embarrassing that we got to him too late time and time again.

We have alot of glaring holes to fill.....LB......alot of need there...Thomas overall has been unimpressive and looks slow out there.....Nowhere near the force he was in Balt.......Bruschi, Seau, will retire I am sure.....Colvin played well this year....but has never regained the "step" he had while in Chicago and before his injury.....Vrabel is on the back end of his career as well....so we have glaring need at LB.........Secondary needs a fair amount of work as well.....Rodney may hang up the cleats......Hobbs should be traded or kept as a 3rd corner and used only in formations where he will NEVER be one on one with anyone......not busting on the guy....but he has been a weak link and cost us many times in one on one situations......time to move on...... Merriweather should come on......Not sure about Gay.....Samuel will not be back I would imagine.......SO again......Big time need here......and we need some vet help.....despite a very rich CB draft........Offensive Line....where to begin? I would love to see us send Kaczur and Light in a nice package trade.....Both of these guys are almost always "the guilty party" when Brady is sacked or rushed.....and I know it wasn't a ton of times this year in the sack category.....but Light and Kaczur always sh## the bed and give up the big plays at the WORST most damaging times.......like the playoffs and the SB.......I think we need several more top OL prospects and maybe a few FA signings.........I think what most people are thinking and where they will disagree with me here is "Hey listen, The OL only allowed like 20 sacks all year......they played really well and gave Tom alot of time"....Well yes, that is correct.....against teams like Cincy, Cleveland, Jets, Miami, Buffalo, and even Washington and Dallas.........But.......against the top defenses.....Philly, Baltimore, NYG, and even Indy......they got their a##es handed to them.......

Anyways.......alot of people are saying....Hey don't worry we'll be back in the SB next year......I don't know about that......We have alot of guys that will or should retire.....and alot of glaring holes to fill......Heck we will need a new punter.....and very possibly a new PK....as BB was not confident enough to send in Gost to go for a 47 yrder.....yikes.........If only we had Vinitraitor.......(only kidding....F him)
