Christopher_Gasper : Ellis Hobbs let it slip during the playoffs that Brown was ready to go in at defensive back and Mel Mitchell is on IR now and he was among the gameday active. It might setting up for a storybook ending for Troy.

I'll be happy to see him out there, but I hope he is ready for it. I've wondered this whole season if BB has been practicing him in that role. It would make sense considering how thing we are there.

If he gets a big pick-6, I'll be sobbing with joy.

Was the comment in the same vein as Stallworth & Welker debating over who was going to run the option?

I would love to see a wrinkle like this out there, but I'm skeptical.

You should be skeptical. The OP misconstrued a simple comment in Gaspar's chat today. Here is the question and his answer:

"Bill_A__Guest_: Sorry for joining late - everybody asking, no one knows - Doyou think Troy B. gets activated for this game?

Christopher_Gasper: I'm getting this one a lot. Honestly, I just don't know. I don't think that Chad Jackson will be active. Ellis Hobbs let it slip during the playoffs that Brown was ready to go in at defensive back and Mel Mitchell is on IR now and he was among the gameday active. It might setting up for a storybook ending for Troy."

I hope he's active, leading the team out of the tunnel as in all our SB wins. But we won't know 'til a couple of hours before game time.

I'd love to see him active. He's my second favorite player and I'd like to see one more sentemental run before he hangs them up for good.

I just re-watched the NFL Films - 2004 SB and Troy's punt return in the SB was really pretty amazing even though it didnt go for a TD..

Hopefully we'll hear Gil Santos say:

...And Troy Brown has the ball! he's runing past the 45. the 30, the 15, TOUCHDOWN !! TROY BROWN!! And the patriots go ahead by 31 with 59 seconds left in the game...

Troy does his celebration and looks at the crowd and says" BINGO, I have BINGO!!" oh yeah.:rocker: :rocker:

Man, I can't wait to see that!

I'd love to see him play.

Why in the world would he play at DB? I don't see who he would replace, Randall gay?

And two plays later, after he picks Manning and returns it to the Giants 3, you'll hear:

"Brady in the shotgun with Brown to his left.

Direct snap to Brown.

Giants are bringing six.

Brady levels Strahan ... they'll have to carry Strahan out on a stretcher after that hit ... Tom Brady hits almost as hard as Welker.

Brown's looking, looking ... and he finds Vrabel in the corner for 6 more.

Is there anything Troy Brown can't do?

Pats now lead by 38 with a second on the clock and it looks like they're going for 2.

Richard Seymour reports eligible and Chris Hanson finally comes onto the field and goes under center.

Folks this is not going to be pretty."

OK I can dream, can't I?

Oh yes you can! I've dreamt the same dream 3 times already! :singing: And I will dream it again this Sunday.:rocker:

not only did it not go for a TD, but it was called back due to a penalty

I would love to see Troy too but I don't think it will happen for sentimental reasons as that is not fair to the guy who does not dress because of it who may miss their only chance at a SB. The decision will come down to who can help out more. In which case Troy may be the answer anyway because of his experience and versatility.

I love Troy Brown, but this is a pipe dream. The comment in the Globe referred to the last game that TB dressed. Mitchell going to IR created a roster space, but that space has been filled by others. It is unlikely for TB to dress because there is no place to play him. Pats have about 9 DBs ahead of him and 5 WRs. Welker returns punts. Even if he were dressed, it would take a highly unusual set of circumstances for him to get on the field.

I love Troy but no way I want him active for this game. BB gave him his proper swan song in the Dolphins game and that, as they say, is the name of dat tune.

No way you want him active? Why, you think he's a liability? Like old slow Tedy and ancient Jr? Lots of guys have lost a step playing for this team. They compensate with speed between their ears.

Bill will fill the 45 with the guys he thinks give us the best chance to win against this team. I hope Troy is one of them. If not, so be it.

I can see Troy being active and make a token appearance if the

game is not close.
