The only way the Patriots take DE/OLB Vernon Gholston @ 7 is "IF" he runs a 4.45 and that's a Big IF! Again if that happens even i can justify the selection.

You realize he is 264 pounds? If he runs a 4.45 he may go in the top 5! I would be happy with a 4.6.

My only question mark with him is such a high pick worth taking on a project? He has the build and speed of AD, but it took AD a few years to get to the level he's at. At #7 you want someone who can contribute right away.

Interesting thread title. It gives no hint as to what it is about.

Plus you're not being "honest", you're giving your "honest opinion". Since you don't draft for the pats, there's no way for you to know for sure.

A better, more informative title would have been "In my opinion, the Pats won't draft Gholston". See? That would have actually informed the person reading it as to what it was about.

What difference does it make how fast he runs a 40? I don't think the was that special either and he looks kind of stiff...

I guess I could start a thread and title it "I was just thinking..." and then give my thoughts on Gholston.

he would be able to contribute right away,
put him in passing situations and let him come with the other dogs
also, you can drop him into the flats occasionally to keep defenses honest
but to say that we won't take him because he won't be able to contribute is in-accurate imho

playing the run and being a complete LB will certainly take time, but out of the gates he can use his strength/speed to rush the qb

By your theory Bethel Johnson should've been a #1 pick

I don't want Gholston, I really don't. He doesn't justify the value at #7 at all.

At this point, they are better off just trading down into the bottom of the round and loading up on top end corners (Cromartie/Cason/Talib), A$ante is as good as gone, "bank" on it.

I agree, Samuel is out the door as soon as FA opens. I also think Wilson and Gay are as well.

I would like to see the Pats replace Samuel with a decent veteran FA CB, while a high draft pick youngster gets experience in the dime or nickel for a season.

There are at least 5 good CB's all rated in the lower first round to middle second round that could fit the bill.

BB isn't much for one year wonders. Guys like CLong and ACason and guys that have long and productive careers are way more likely.

Ochmed, if we draft a corner #1, the kid isn't going to play nickel and learn the ropes behind some washed up FA vet, it's a Darelle Revis situation, he'll need to start with Ellis right out of the shoot. I would rather see the kid get beat and learn as a starter instead of some, Drayton Florence washed up vet who's days are long past and have absolutely no upside other than having time in the league.

Are you kidding me? Honestly why do some meatballs on here feel the need to troll around telling people how to voice there opinions.

No one cares what you think

We all know BB's system isn't completely based on the 40 time. BB doesn't run a Cover 2 defense.

Only thing that matters to BB, is if the prospect, if on D, can tackle.

Only way a 40 time is important to BB is if the prospect is versitile. Like AT.

As we all know, Pat's D is not known for their speed.

Actually the mods have said many times to post thread titles which give some hint, just a hint as to what the thread is about.

"I'm going to be honest with you guys" is ridiculous. I'd expect more from a 5th grader.

No, I'm not kidding you. I think you should be gang raped too. *******.

Marcus Trufant anyone?

If the Pats are not willing to pay Samuel, they are probably not

willing to pay Trufant either. His demands will be just a notch below

Samuel's demands. Forum members who think the Pats can get good

cornerbacks at half price are mistaken. Except for Mike Richardson,

the Pats have no budding young draft choices on the roster to fill

the cornerback position.
