Re: 2007 Patriots best ever?(good, accurate article)

If they go 19-0, they are the best ever. What's hilarious though is the amount of 49er fans that have shown up here lately. Worry about your own crap team. Thanks for that top 10 pick chumps.

Re: 2007 Patriots best ever?(good, accurate article)

Thanks for the draft pick and sucking so it is worth so much.

Re: 2007 Patriots best ever?(good, accurate article)

The 49ers might have been 16-0 if they had your schedule:rocker:

Yeah that schedule that included 6 playoff teams. How easy! The 49ers had a way easier schedule and they struggled just to score a touchdown. Your whole team had one more touchdown than Randy Moss. Hilarious.

It's interesting that he points out that the '84 Niners outscored their opponents by 248 points - we outscored ours by 315 - so what's his point ?

All im saying is that your schedule was ridulously easy along with your division. Unlike the 1984 49ers, who played in a tough division

This is why we need to win this week then we can just say "Scoreboard, Baby" :D

if you really thought your team was the best, you would have no reason to come over here and try and sell your story.

IF the pats win the superbowl they are the best EVER.

and you are just going to have to deal with that.

Too bad they lost to the Steelers. What the hell does their division have to do with that?

Whether they do or not, some people are still going to say that the 84 49ers were better or some other teams....Due to all the different situations and cercumstances(such as schedules, injuries, etc, etc., there is no telling who REALLY is the best team ever.

Yeah there is. The team that played the best competition that the league had to offer and STILL came out undefeated is the best. It's pretty simple, especially when you add in the salary cap factor.

Re: 2007 Patriots best ever?(good, accurate article)

The 49ers might have been 16-0 if they had your schedule:rocker:

The 49ers played five teams with winning records, AND WERE 4-1 AGAINST THEM. The 2007 Patriots played against seven in the regular season, and beat every single one (by a lot, actually).

The 49ers also played against only two division winners in the regular season (and were 1-1) compared to the four the Patriots played (and were 4-0). No questioning they were a great team, but to say that they'd have gone undefeated if their schedule was harder is just a little stupid.

I think its kind of silly to have this discussion while we're 18-0.

Should we go 19-0 I look forward to a debate.

Until then, perhaps you can help me out with a little research to help for the sake of comparisons:

What was the NFL Salary Cap set at in 1984 and how on earth did the 49ers keep such a talented team together with a limited budget?

Of course there isn't - but in the popular vote for best ever, it'll be us not you. Sorry.

Re: 2007 Patriots best ever?(good, accurate article)

I think the essence of his argument is:

1. The Pats didn't score enough points in bad weather games.
2. The Pats blew out the Chargers too early in the season.
3. The Pats didn't beat the Colts badly enough.
4. The Bills weren't a respectable opponent, their record notwithstanding.
5. Football players were better when he himself was young and in his prime.

Two games against a 10-6 Rams team, two against a 7-9 Saints team, and two games against a 4-12 Falcons team is a "tough division"?

The NFC was decidedly unimpressive that season and they played against the weakest AFC division (and lost to one of those teams). How many thirteen win teams did they play in the regular season?

Gotta love how the author of that article considers the fact that 49ers beat up on the 10-6 Bears and 9-7 Giants so impressive, but the 11-5 Chargers and Jags mean nothing.

I don't care what the Bears and Giants did in the following two seasons, in '84 they lost a combined 13 games. That's not very good.

That's the first article I've seen that's ranked the 84 49ers that high. Personally I think after this season most people's list will look something like this:

1) 85 Bears/07-08Pats
2) 75 Steelers
3)84 49ers
4) 92 Cowboys
5) 72 fish

You are obviously trying way too hard. First you came over here trying to lobby Montana over Brady by citing only Superbowl stats, and now you're trying to tell us that the 84 Niners were the GOAT by citing one guys opinion that has been pointed out above to have self-defeating arguments in it (Point differential cited for Niners not for Pats which was greater).

Oh and for all that talk about the AFC East being weak, the 84 Niners Oppoenents winning percentage was .457

Idiot, Once the Patriots dispose of the Giants that will be 9, I said 9 wins against playoff teams while niners were only 7-1 against playoff teams and before you throw the Dolphin and Jets remember I could *****slap you with New Orleans, Atlanta and Tampa Bay. Your team had agreat run and guess what we appreciated them, So thanks for the #7 draft choice and sit back and enjoy the ride.
