..........tonight on NFL Total Access that several of the Patriot players, including Tom Brady had the flu in the AFC Championship game. I can't rembember who, but some very astute PatsFans.com person suggest that about Brady. Well done, even if I can't remember who said it.

Secondly, Adam Schefter said that Tom Brady was limping today in practice. I know we all like to follow Limp Gate. There are alot of folks here that are saying it's no big deal, but I'm sure having a hard time buying into such talk.

P.S. - I don't want to do a separate post for this, but today Jim Miller of Sirius NFL Radio, and Terrell Davis, of NFL Total Access both said that "everybody is picking the Patriots to win", and discussed how that will fuel the Giants. How are guys that do this for a living so out of the freaking loop with reality?

Re: Adam Schefter says.............

Felger also made a big deal about Brady today because he had a noticeable protector of some kind under his sock. Of course, he has no idea whether it was needed or was merely precautionary. I like Shefter a lot but FSNE showed a few clips from practice and Brady was doing drills and putting significant weight on his ankle with no apparent problem. Maybe Shefter saw something else but the small part on FSNE, Brady looked just fine.

all the other 18 teams were motivated also and look how it turned out for them. nobody picked the giants in week sixteen .they were motivated then and they still lost .its all verbal diarrhea

If Philip Rivers can play "EFFECTIVELY" with no ACL in one knee and damage to his MCL in the other, why can't our QB play with a gimpy ankle?

Now he owes it to the whole country
to limp.
Can't disappoint such a vast constituency.

Perhaps, next season, "ankle" will join "right shoulder"
on every injury report.

Re: Adam Schefter says.............

Schefter was noting how some of the Giants (particularly Ross) have the flu this year, much like the Pats did at LAST YEAR's AFC Championship game....

He was absolutely referring to this year's game against SD when talking about the Patriots and the flu.

Re: Adam Schefter says.............

Secondly, Adam Schefter said that Tom Brady was limping today in practice.

He has the same information that we have. The perspective of the AP pool reporter (Pompei?) and the limited video of practice that has been released (I didn't see anything that looked disturbing).

Now add in the following facts:
  • Brady was injured in the 3rd quarter of the AFCC game
  • We didn't know about the injury until after the game
  • Brady spent the first couple of days after the injury in NYC

What does this tell us?

Brady does not have a high ankle sprain as we typically think of them. Did you see McNabb or TO after their injuries? Did you have to wait until after the game to figure out they were injured?

Brady didn't need treatment beyond your standard RICE. Otherwise, he would have been in Foxboro to get that treatment. You have to assume he got an MRI after the AFCC game so that they knew what they were dealing with.

Brady's injury does not involve much pain or instability. He has been on his feet constantly since the injury. Hasn't winced even once that I've seen. If stability was an issue, he wouldn't have been allowed to walk around unassisted in rain, sleet and snow (unless he was delivering mail). Also, why put him out on the practice field today? Assuming he was compromised in some way, they could have held him out until Wednesday and still had a "normal" practice week.

As for the limp that half the people seem to see...if you were told I had an ankle injury and focused on my normal walk, you could likely see a "slight" limp if you tried hard enough. Combine that with the fact his ankle is likely wrapped tight at all times.

I will be very surprised if Brady isn't 100% on Sunday. He may even be there now. If his ankle is wrapped, it would be for Brady's peace of mind more than a physical need. I don't know any more that you do, it is just that other explanations don't make sense.

Re: Adam Schefter says.............

the Giants have the flu now?

I'm still not worried about Brady's ankle. A lot of players have limps during the season, but don't show any signs of it when they are out on the field when their ankles are all taped up and they are give shots.

Brady went 7 for 7 in the fourth quarter against the Chargers with a sprained ankle. He played the Eagles in 2003 with his throwing elbow blown up the size of a softball when his burser sack ruptured. Brady will play through any pain especially since his right, non-planter foot.

I bet that if this was just a regular game of the season, there would not be anything about it and we probably would never had known he even injured his ankle. It was only because he was caught in NYC with a boot on.

I read 3 or 4 of them had it, hopefully that 5 hour flight gave it to the rest of them.

Nah! I want the Pats to beat the Giants at full strength. I don't want any excuses.

Why the hell can't this team just take a flu shot in the fall.

Naw, It'll run through them by game time, and they should be fine physically. It's still 6 days out. It could cost them valuable prep time though, cuz team member with a sneeze or sniffle, won't get within a city block of the 1st teamers.

Except Ross hurled in an airplane with recirculated air before a 4+ hour flight. Not exactly an ideal situation for stopping the spread of a nasty virus.

Yes, he said Brady and some other Patriots had the flu against SD in the AFCCG. He did go on to say Ross and three other Giants currently have the flu, and the Giants are hoping to keep it from spreading.
