Don Banks: 5 Reasons Why

I've found Banks to be very good, and I agree with all he's said. Well done.

I imagine he'd have a fairly difficult time shopping for groceries and his neighbors would have been stringing toilet paper from his trees, had he sad anything remotely critical. Zimmerman can get away with it only because he's nestled deep in the heart of Giant country.

1. Bye week kills Giants' mo.
2. No one preps like BB.
3. Enormous SB experience.
4. AFC still ascendant.
5. No one bears down in big games like the Pats.

That all rings true. So does:
6. Ideal weather & field conditions for hi-octane offense.
7. Pats get back the missing half of their O-line.
8. The running game has hit its stride.

What else?

Jack - would love to hear your views on what most Jets fans think about the Giants and Jets in the SB (you are not "most" Jets fans I understand, but you probably have a better perspective than me)

Obviously seeing the hated rival Patriots in the Super Bowl this season with everything that's gone on re: Spygate has to be a bitter pill for many fans...

Is there a bit of a Jets/Giants rivalry as well with each team competing for the affections of New Jersey? As such, are Jets fans feeling pretty jilted being one upped not only by the Patriots but by the Giants?

Thanks for your non-trollish perspectives as always.

Patchick caught me on this one already, Joe. I get such a warm feeling that my Patriotic friends worry about my mental health - which was tenuous even before this football season. :) http://www.patsfans.com/new-england-patriots/messageboard/showpost.php?p=757346&postcount=18

As I said on my home Jets board earlier today, I was more ambivalent about this game for a good stretch. But then, that old, whiney, cheating, pointy-nose coach Shula and his minions went on their campaign for the greatness of 1972, and continue to try laying claim to the title of Greatest Team Of All Time. If I see or hear from that odious loiudmouth Mercury Morris one more time. . . .

At least if the Patriots knock that bunch of old, disgruntled, former players and their full-of-himself coach, I won't have to see or hear them ever again. Nor will I have to deal with a new batch of old, disgruntled, former players, and THEIR full-of-himself coach for another 20 years or so. It's not a great trade-off, but it's the best of a bad lot, and that's where I'm at with this.

In the end, I don't take it as seriously as a lot of fans. It's football. Games. Entertainment. Rivalry. And, best of all, there's always a next year.

If I forget to say this between now and Sunday, which is very possible - to all my friends here at Patsfans.com, enjoy the game and good luck to your team.

6. Ideal weather & field conditions for hi-octane offense.

Breaking news: The Giants have a high-octane offense, and the weather is no factor in this game.

If you're digging down to the level of weather me thinks you are fidgeting with nothing to do, or are looking for excuses that border on the lame.

Seriously, the Giants have some very good receivers and are quite capable of running up and down the field on the Pats. It's a fact.

you're crazy if you think the giants can match up with the patriots O with no weather as an equalizer.

11. Tom Brady NEVER has back to back, sup-par performances. He just had 1. Zero chance he has another one.

12. Since the 2003 season, BB/Brady absolutely OWNES the NFC. The Patriots have lost 1 game to the NFC in 20 opportunities in 5 seasons. The only loss coming in week 2 of the 2004 season on a road game in Carolina.

Yeah, but the Pats have played 8 games in temps over 50. 5 total BLOWOUTS, 2 convincing wins and the only remotely close game was in a HOSTLE dome in Indy. The Giants are no Indy. No way the weather being nice, makes this a weather-neutral game. It's an advantage to the team that has torn up the competition in similar games this year.
