If true Tuna will have the last laugh. Claims they will roll Barber into the deal to balance the value chart...

Little hint of collusion to - Tuna was allowed to pillage the staff in return for what Jerry apparently thinks passes for quid pro quo.

Jerry will have his 'Boys thoroughly f-ed up again in another year or two.

Re: OT: Mort says Cowboys and Dolphins working on trade for #1

He didn't exactly say they're working on it, just that the Cowboys could be interested and that Barber would have to be involved for the Dolphins. The Cowboys should just keep Barber, draft someone like Felix Jones and use the other #1 probably on a WR.

Re: OT: Mort says Cowboys and Dolphins working on trade for #1

If this deal happens it is not going to be a good deal for the Boys.....2 first rounders and Barber who is a proven top tier RB in own right for the opportunity to pay McFadden what 30 plus million.

These kinds of flights of fancy are why the Boys will never see the SB again, Jerry is like a Movie mogul who makes business decisions based on the desires of his little head rather then his brain.

Re: OT: Mort says Cowboys and Dolphins working on trade for #1

And people said I was crazy when I said the Cowboys would do this if we had the #2 pick. Jerry Jones wants McFadden, and he wants him bad. I would have taken Marion the Barbarian and both of the Cowboys first rounders for the #2, if only the Niners hadn't effed things up by winning a couple extra meaningless games.

Re: Is Mc Fadden worth 2 first rounders and Barber

Look why would Jones who is obviously overly emotionally involved in this situation make this deal.

From a business perspective it at best is a lateral move that involves a huge increase in cost and risk for the team.

Barber is a proven commodity with an impressive career to date and would cost the cowboys way less money then McFadden without the risk of failure.

It makes no sense expect in JJ ego intoxicated mind.

yes i know i posted a reply in my own thread.....well at least i got an opinion i know i can agree with....well at least i have hope that i can agree with it ....i think?

We might see Maroney vs Barber 2 times a year.:singing:

Re: OT: Mort says Cowboys and Dolphins working on trade for #1(Merged)

What a shock. Parcells is a traitor.

Re: OT: Mort says Cowboys and Dolphins working on trade for #1(Merged)

maybe im missing something... this move just makes no sense to me. both teams already have very good rbs. why would the fins give up the #1 pick for another rb and why would the cowboys wanna replace a proven barber with someone who will cost a hell of alot more before he even steps on the field.

Re: OT: Mort says Cowboys and Dolphins working on trade for #1(Merged)

The Dolphins certainly need another RB since it's hard to play with one on IR if he's all you got. Particularly when you don't have an accomplished QB...

Dolphins get two firsts that they could even parlay into more on a team with a lot of needs as the Tunabuild commences.

For Jones it's all about talent and ego, his and his players. Coaches are just a necessary evil. Crazy Al has a similar mindset problem, just a lot less $$$. Jerry wants this kid because he's from his alma marta, and picking #1 spins attention away from how badly you screwed the pooch just three months ago...

Re: OT: Mort says Cowboys and Dolphins working on trade for #1(Merged)

wish the 49ers sucked more. i'd take 22, 28 and Barber anyday of the week

Re: Is Mc Fadden worth 2 first rounders and Barber

Barber is the real deal... The only concern I would have with Barber is the fact that he looks for contact often which might lead to injury...

McFadden is good but played in an offense designed to eat up huge chunks of yardage in the running game... His teammate Felix Jones was actually better than McFadden this year in my opinion... I actually think he will be a better player than McFadden when all is said and done (Jone was only a sophomore this year).

McFadden is a lot like Steve Slaton to me... They played in a run-first offense in college, meaning their numbers have been inflated.

Felix Jones got most of his yards when Mcfadden is on the field at the same time. Mcfadden would line up at QB and Jones would be the running back. Jones would get his yards on QB options after the defense would collapse on Mcfadden. Jones's stats are misleading to me and he is overrated until he carries the load by himself. WIth that said, seeing how Bush is doing right now, I would'nt trade two first rounders to pay a running back 40+ million dollars and trade a proven running back (Barber). Could go down as one of the dumbest trades in NFL history.

Damn... see, this is why I wanted the 49ers to suck harder. I was dying for Barber, and the fact that Jones is willing to give them the two firsts as well is nuts. I figured it'd be worth Barber and one first... but two? Unreal. Damn... oh well. Can't have the world, I guess.

Herschel Walker deal for the new millenium?

makes sense, for the fins at least. with getting 2 firsts back the dolphins are rippin the cowboys here IMO. if this is legit, parcells is already off to a good start.

FYI-MB3 ain't going anywhere.

From someone who resides in Dallas-Jerry is working on a new deal(may take some time) with MB3.

Mort obviously has too much time on his hands.

Also-some of the assistants going no sweat b/c I would prefer Wade to bring in his own.

That'll work real well for you in the long run. Wade will be gone this time next year. Probably TO too. For some reason Jerry doesn't like Barber, prefers Jones and wants the flavor of the month to run with him. Tuna did what he does with you guys, got the program back on a productive track. Now Jerry will do what he does, screw it up. What you saw this year is Wade and the talent and staff Bill assembled carrying on until they fell apart down the stretch. What you will see next season is the real dropoff as the brain drain on the coaching staff and in the FO and scouting department manifests itself.

OT: Cowboys on the Clock?

The most interesting fact is that it looks like the Pats will face Marion Barber twice per year...

Sorry, I saw the Mort thread after I posted (in haste).
