Plaxico Burress: Giants receivers better than Pats

I think he meant to say taller.

lol @ Plax

Hes their only WR

Toomer has more drops than Brady has TDs

Smith has done nothing as rookie

Sinorice Moss has done nothing in 2years

Randy Moss > Plaxico
Gaffney or Stallworth > Toomer
Welker > Smith

The Pats are going to need a bigger bulliten board

Does the NFL test for crack?

Talk about a quote taken out of context:rolleyes:

Seriously. Getting ridiculous. Read like 8 different articles ripping him because of that one statement, which I didn't even interpret to be a declaration of the Giants receivers being better than the Pats receivers. That's not exactly what he said, and even standing alone with none of the accompanying questioning that likely led to his statement, it still doesn't register to me as slighting the Patriots. I guess some people see things differently.

Agree with the two above posts. I heard the actual quote, and they have twisted the crap out of it. And then by reading it, you can't even hear the tone...stupid media has nothing better to do.

Like before I was listening to WIP (610 in Philly) and a caller said he thought the Pats were STILL cheating and they didn't deserve any of thier rings. Hugh Douglas (one of the co-hosts) said "Yeah, they have one that belongs to me!" Me typing that makes it sound like he's serious...he wasn't. He thought that caller was nuts, and said so. Then he went on to say "In the NFL, if you're not cheating, you're not trying."

Agree.. similar to Osi's interview with Bob Costas on "Inside the NFL"... way blown out of proportion by the rest of the media..

Sure, he was referring to a rough match up and looking forward to tangling with Matt again... However, I don't think he said even anything close to what Hardwick said about Sey....

Interestingly, some of the guys who were all for the Pats until last week have now started picking the Giants... I guess it's all media strategy, right ? Get everyone interested.. This is going to be one of the worst Sundays until next week..

The scary part is, it was the New York media that spun the quote that way; getting it on the National Wires.

I'm good at finding disrespect. There's no disrespect here.

The point is to shut your pie hole and not give them anything to twist. Because they can twist anything.

Interesting gameplan among the Giants players...

Now that we have the WRs pumped up for retribution, too bad there's no way to get our QB going...

Oh, if only a New York newspaper would call Brady a "girlie-man" or something like that....

Doesn't take a lot of spinning when a guy says:

"We have guys that can go out and do things just as well or maybe better than some of those guys," he said last week.

First, it is stupid to say because it is wrong. They have no one who can do what Moss or Welker does, never mind do it better.

Second, it is stupid to say anthing about an opposing team before the game except to say how great they are and how good they play.

If you say a team or players on a team aren't very good, and they hand you yor collectives asses, what does that say about you. If you do beat them, you merely beat a team you already said wasn't very good. It's lose-lose.

It's funny - because overall I think confidence is fine - I respect it... but then there's the stupidity factor of making a statement that can't be backed up and will be used against you in a game.

So while I'd certainly be willing to recognize a high degree of talent among the Giants overall - and I do - they deserve to be where they are... Burress also has an abundance of stupidity for saying that.

I think he's merely expressing confidence in their receiving corps.

If I was a coach I don't think I'd want to hear this from my players,

"We're all right, but their receivers are really great. We'll try to catch a few balls, ahhhh who am I kidding, we're just going to sit on our helmets and watch Moss and Welker, they're much better than us."

He said "some of those guys" and you said "Moss and Welker."

What is wrong with your mental picture?

Everyone shut up if haven't seen the interview.

It's so ridiciously spun. He compliments the Patriots receivers for a solid minute and simply says "we have some guys who can do some of the things they do"

Listen to the ENTIRE interview and listen to the TONE in which it was said. He's absolutely NOT saying the Giants have better receivers.

Absolutely correct, B-C. And you would think other teams would have figured it out by now, but obviously they haven't...not that I am complaining.

When was the last time the Pats gave quotes to the media that could get twisted? And, while I didn't hear the interview with Burress, I don't think it is "twisting" it all that much to think that he made a really stupid statement....there is no way the Giants receviers compare. They just don't.
Toomer is their big No. 2 guy, and yet, he has the same number of touchdowns and only a few more yards than Stallworth...our "forgotten" receiver.
