...on Superbowl Sunday? When we first found out she was pregnant, we were of course very happy! Then they gave us the expected due date, and my first reaction was: FEBRUARY 3rd?? Are you serious?? That's when the Pats will be playing for title number 4!! So naturally we hit up training camp knowing it would be our last trip there for a couple years, and my wife managed to get Tom Brady's autograph on one of his daily post-practice "drive-by" signings. So we were convinced this would be a special season...and even more so that the Pats would be playing on Feb 3, 2008.

So now the time draws nigh, and the baby has "dropped down". So the birth is imminent. The delivery room does have a small tv, but something tells me we'll be a tad bit distracted if we're watching the game on that set.

So does anyone have any incantations for me? Or know of any beads we can wear, or anything else we can use to ward off the stork until AFTER Feb 3??

Please keep us in your thoughts fellow Patriots fans! Help us ward off the stork with your Superbowl vibes!

Is it a boy or a girl? This is crucial. If it's a boy, just get up real close and explain the situation. He'll understand and either come early or hang loose for an extra day or two. If it's a girl, all bets are off and you might want to schedule a caesarean.

Man, I'm in the same dillema as you... My wife's not due until the 10th, but our baby is "oversized" so she's ready to pop any time now.

Ever since NE started making a real run at perfection, all my friends have started insinuating that my son will be born on SB sunday...

Sorry I can't be of any help with your problem, but though it's only January I'd like to nominate this as a potential thread of the year.

Well, buddy, it looks like you're gonna have to step up big time. You have to give her complete rest. You have to do EVERYTHING around the house for the next week. Then with any luck, she will go into labor as a result of all the excitement from celebrating during the closing seconds of the game. What better scenario is there? Seriously, though, there's really not much you can do. Your baby is on their own clock. Good luck!

Try Castor oil maybe she'll have it early.

You've got a week to go - I'd focus on helping to get that baby out.

And there are certainly ways to help that process.

Probably the most effective is exactly what got the baby in there in the first place.

;)

Dude it will be the miracle baby if it is born that day. Imagine: the greatest day of your life--Pats go 19-0 and your baby is born!

So when in the future you kid asks "What is the favorite day of your life" you can say, with all honesty, "The day you were born."

At the very least, do you have Tivo or a DVR? Set that puppy up now just in case. Then, don't wear any Pats gear in the birthing room - someone would no doubt mention the game/score if they knew you were a fan. Might be hard to avoid anyway, but can't hurt to hedge your bets.

Almost NOBODY has their kid on the EXACT due date. Trust me. (Wife went into labor just after an ugly 28-21 win over the Lions last year on Dec. 3rd and my son was born on the 4th. She was due on the 2nd)

First, may God bless your baby, your wife and you.

Here's the the winning deal.

Tell your wife that you've made some very special arrangements. If she delivers on any day but the Super Bowl, she gets an evening of passion with Tom Brady. If she delivers on the Super Bowl, she gets an evening of passion with Peyton Manning.

Light up the victory cigar, Dank. You'll enjoy the game in peace.

That's true. Just hope and pray the baby will be healthy and the Patriots will feel like a very very very distant #2 priority when that head starts to crown.
Good luck!

Believe it or not, the kid is even more important the game. Anyway I've got some great names or him (her). How about Donte or Kelley or Logan or Randy or Heath? Anyway the baby will be like your team...a super winner! BEST OF LUCK!

Well my birthday is Feb 4th so you could ask her to hold off in honor to me?

My suggestion: Get your priorities in order.

It should be a good game, a great game, a historic game. But it is a football game.

On the other hand we are talking about your family here. If seem even the slightest upset with the due date or more focused on Tom Brady than her, she will won't forgive you.

If she does go into labor during the game, turn off the TV and focus on her. Do not tune in the game on the radio to the hospital. If she asks you if you are bother by missing the game respond, "Of course not dear, you and the baby are much more important to me than some football game"

If you can't do that you might want to retain a divorce atty now.

LOL! You guys & gals are killing me over here. Good stuff!

I just passed that one along to the wife, and she's laughing so hard it might happen NOW!!!

Why are there never any corks laying around when you need them?

Congrats and good luck to you too SoCalPatsfan90! I'll add you and yours to my incantations.

Thanks for the laughs and support PatsFans!

BTW, Pats 38 - Giants 17

Ouch, a spanking.
I never doubted for one minute that his original post was half in jest. Hell, I'm a woman and fully appreciate how joyous and life altering birth is. But given a choice, I'd prefer it not to be during the game. Let the guy have some fun at what is no doubt a stressful time on many fronts.
