If you had to pick someone at #7 right now....

I see the Patriots moving this pick regardless

We know how the Patriots work and their is just not a Richard Seymour on the draft board worth paying. I love Dorsey but we are pretty much set at that position. I say they move the pick taking much less than the pick is actually worth. Price you pay for ditching the 7th overall contract. I woudn't mind a 2nd rounder from another Team who's drafting some where in the middle of the round also a future 2nd Rounder in 2009. So for #7 we would get 1st rounder and 2nd rounder in 2008 and 2nd rounder in 2009.

Give it some time. The CB class looks like a riser, actually, I think there could end up being 3 top fifteen CB. Jenkins, Talib, McKelvin.

Gholston. If Jake Long and Gholston are gone then we should take the best QB available. Use him as trade bait. Don't even talk to anyone about trades before hand..........and then BOOM! NE Patriots select Andre Woodson from UK. Then just sit back and wait for the phone to ring.

There's a reason you don't see that happening: the rookie cap-within-a-cap. And that cap is determined by the number and ranks of players you draft, not the ones you end up with. So, if a team went after Woodson, they'd have to find a way to accommodate him within their rookie cap without the adjustment for having the #7 pick.

Maybe Kentwan Balmer is this year's Richard Seymour.

Jake Long makes the most sense. At #7 he'll be making starter money and he has a good chance to start in his first year. C Long, Ghoston really don't fit in right away which is okay for a rookie, but that's an awful a lot of money to leave on the bench.

J Long will not be available at #7. Clady will be however. Or, take the best corner available.

Mark my words! Whether at #7 or somewhere else in the 1st round, The Patriots are picking Kenny Phillips (S) from the U of Miami.

i wouldnt mind it because he can play corner as well as safety but hes getting a 2nd round grade by Mayock i think and theres a case of "him disappearing too often" which im not really sure istrue. being a miami fan..he always flew to the ball and was there to make tackles with a somewhat poor supporting cast around him

What was your take on C. Campbell this season? What happened?

He was doubled a lot..tripled at times. He sort of fell back to Earth with the inexperience we had around him. the DL had its struggles but Campbell played well but not as well without some guys like Brown, Pata, and Atkins

He did add weight in offseason and got stronger which might have slowed him down. His stock has dropped for few different reasons on the field but i think if he falls out of top 15, someone might get a steal. I wouldnt mind bringing him in and letting him try to become a 3-4 DE while adding a little weight to get to 290 or so.

Right now Campbell reminds me alot of Marquise Hill (R.I.P.). He has great size and wingspan but an underachiever in terms of production.

My top seven at #7 right now are:

1. Jake Long
2. Chris Long
3. Ryan Clady
4. Mike Jenkins
5. Darren McFadden
6. Cleodis McKelvin
7. Keith Rivers

Measured by a delicate equation, factoring talent level and how that talent could be used to improve the team.

He has an intriguing build for an OLB too, if he loses 10 lbs. I should be interesting to see how he times at the combine.

when did philip rivers re-enter the draft? Sure, he played hurt in the playoffs but i'd think that the Chargers would still want to keep him. lol

This Phillip Rivers is a great prospect - he can play safety one week, then bulk up 30 obs and play ILB the next. Actually, I may have undervalued him at #7.

The Patriots almost would have to take a CB with #7. If they do not then they have Asante locked up. Number 7 gives us the first CB taken in the draft and hopefully, the best one. I've noticed in the mocks, that only 1 LB is projected to go in the first round. With that in mind, maybe we can pick up a sleeper in round 2-3? Our second and early third pick are more intriguing then the first. Those picks should be really good talent and if they are not a CB or LB, it will interesting to see who's chosen.

There's a question as to whether there's much talent difference between the top CB in the draft and the seventh or eighth ranked one, though.

Hills (RIP) didnt run under a 5 in the 40 at 6"6 300 lbs
Campbell runs a 4.8 at 6"8 280

hes a better athlete production? Try 84 tackles 20.5 for loss and 10.5 sacks as a sophomore and then this year(junior) he 50 tackles, 12.5 for loss and 6 sacks.

reason he was considered top 5 pick @ one point is because his sophomore year. When guys like Chris Long and Gholston rose up the boards..he fell

LOL. we should def try to trade up to get him then cuz the last thing we need to see is the Jets grabbing him ahead of us. haha

wow, i didn't know that Campbell runs that fast for a man of his size. That size and speed is rare to find and may make me think that the Pats may consider him because you probably can't find someone like that in the later rounds.
