Is anyone else crazy enough to be considering this?? If so, and you have got the plan in motion... can you hook me up with any good travel/lodging tips?

PM me if you want to know flight etc...

Check flights from T.F. Green (or Manchester N.H.) to San Diego. I got mine for $233 round trip on the Internet super saver fare. They might still have some left. Phoenix is only a five-hour drive from S.D. Also, we're lodging in Yuma both nights, which is a little less than half way.

I flew in for the AFCCG alone, no way my wife could have handled that cold. Plus its a lot cheaper to go alone.

You can get airfare via Southwest for around $250-400 if you mess around with the dates and the airports. You could fly into LAX and drive the rest of the way to your hotel and then drive from the hotel to the game the next day.

Hotwire still has some rooms available around Phoenix for around $250-300 per day.

You can do it! hehe

you just started this thread to get chicks, didn't you?

Go for it Moga! One of my STmates went to the Pats-Rams SB solo and just winged it the whole time. There are so many fans around it's easy to make friends. He said he'd do it again. If he had only listened to me and not had kids, and gotten married, and started his own business...You'd think my setting the example would be enough to smarten him up. ;)

Thanks for the fuel guys... Im doing some research on flights now. So far the best deal i could find was leaving Fri. depating Phoenix on Wed.

Is it possible to get a flight out of there on Monday (for a reasonable price)?

If you fly into LAX or SAN you can leave Sat and come back Monday.

That way you save on hotel costs. Just rent a car at LAX and drive to the hotel Sat afternoon/night and then drive to the game from the hotel on Sunday.

The problem is flights FROM PHX on Monday. Even into Tampa they are sold out (guess there's a lot of Pats fans here).

I MIGHT be able to stay with a friend in Scottsdale. If not, im considering just sleeping in the rental car (at a rest stop). Especially if I drive in from LAX.

How long of a drive is it?

Do it man.....you won;t regret it - you only go around once.

LAX is about 400 miles from Phoenix.

Dude don't sleep in the rental car at a rest stop, you'll get gangraped by some Chargers fans or something.

Check out Hotwire for some of the cities between LAX and Phoenix.

How much are the tickets? Where did you get one?

from sd to phoenix doing 75 -80 is 6hrs. done it a few times. nice straight shot out 8 to the 10. expect 6 and if you can do 5 more power to you. watch the cops on the grassy median before and after el centro. you'll know it when you see it.

Map quest is showing 5 hours from LAX to the stadium. Is that off?

There aren't any! (Well, Palm Springs.)

There actually aren't really any rest stops either. And certainly not places you'll want to sleep.

How much money is he saving by going to LAX instead of to an airport in Arizona? 400 miles sounds like a long drive to add on top of the jet lagged trip. Doesn't that defeat the purpose of flying?

Yes.

You also have to take into account what time you arrive at LAX. If it's Friday afternoon, it will take you 2 hours just to get out of L.A. County.

It's a 6 hour drive.

San Diego is theoretically drivable in about 5 to 5.5, but not L.A. At least 6.

Dude, you're going to spend thousands of dollars on a ticket. Don't cheap it out and sleep in your car! That's begging for trouble.

Im still looking for a room... dont get me wrong. lol Im thinking worst case senerio.

I want to get in on Friday and out on Monday. I found a flight for $420 bucks into Phoenix from Providence. $244 for the flight into LAX. It sounds like the drive isnt worth it though.

Im going to check Ontario International now.
