I think they should ask Dan Marino so sports talk radio can stop talking about him being the greatest quarterback to never get a ring.

Think of the irony of adding the "greatest" Dolphin that didn't get a ring to the team that surpasses the Dolphin's undefeated streak.

I like this more and more every second.

Seriously it would be cool if they added an all-time Pat great like Hannah, Tippett or Morgan to get them a ring.

Would they go for this? Somehow, it feels to me like when Brett Favre basically laid himself out for Michael Strahan to set the career sack record (i.e., a hollow victory).

I doubt any player would accept the offer but it would be a great homage to a player like Tippett that never got national recognition and should be in the NFL HOF.

In all seriousness, how about someone who can TACKLE the Giants return man (Hixon) who had 2 very long returns (1 for a TD) against us last game.
NO YDS AVG LG
D. Hixon 8 221 27.6 74

If it were not for him, we'd have won the game by double digits. Kelley Washington...ya hear me?

whomever replaces mitchell on the 53 man roster most likely will not be activated for the 45 man game-day roster for the superbowl.

Exactly. And I don't think it even means a game check in the postseason.

That said, why bother IRing him unless they plan to activate SOMEBODY?

IIRC, if your on the 53 man roster or the practice squad you will receive a playoff share per game. IMO, BB has a person in mind that he would like to reward for being on the Pat's shawdow roster with a playoff share & ring. Chad Brown is the first name that comes to my mind. Also if you have been on the practice squad or the 53 man roster any time during the year you may be elligible for a ring. I believe it is up to the team to decides who it would award a ring to. The NFL pays for up to 150 rings at $5,000 per ring.

Game Share(s)
Wild Card Game - Div. Winner $20K, Wildcard team 18K
Divisional Playoff Game 20K
Conference Championship Game 37.5K
Super Bowl (Winning Team) 78K, (losing Tean) 40K

*NOTE: A player on a division winner participating in the Wild Card round and winning the Super Bowl will receive a total of $155,500 ($20,000 - WC; $20,000 – Div.; $37,500 – Conf.; $78,000 – SB).

....and Mr. Kraft takes care of any overage.

The Patriots announced this afternoon that they have placed safety Mel Mitchell on the reserve/injured list with a biceps injury. Mitchell played in 10 regular-season games and one playoff game for New England this season and totaled 11 special teams tackles.Mitchell, 28, was signed by the Patriots as an unrestricted free agent from the New [...]

He didn't post it personally. This website (patsfans.com) employs him to write columns and when he posts a new one the software automatically adds a notice here.

I agree with this. Great sentiment.

As lovely as the symbolic gesture of leaving a spot open for Hill would be, think about the reality of letting guys like Bam Childress and Santonio Thomas sit home while the league's (hopefully) $78K game check goes unclaimed. A memorial shouldn't come at the expense of the living, IMO.

Marquise Hill? Wouldn't that be a nice gesture?
