Re: Man, Is BB Milking This!

ummm milking? I really hope so.

Something tells me that BB is not the type of coach that would trade practice time before a Superbowl for whatever slight psychological advantage he might gain from this (which I really don't see what that would be).

Part 2 of the madness coming up....

FOXBOROUGH -- Patriots coach Bill Belichick held his Thursday press conference (10:50 a.m.) at Gillette Stadium. It didn't take long before he was asked about QB Tom Brady and his health.

"I don't have any comment on it," Belichick said.

Asked if Brady would have a full workload in practice, Belichick said: "We'll go out there and I don't know. The injury report will be out next Wednesday, and we're excited to give that to you. I can't wait to give that to everybody."

That drew some laughter by those in the media workroom.

"Players were asked quite a few questions on Brady. One response that stood out came from Seymour, who was asked his thoughts when he saw pictures of Brady walking in New York with a protective brace over his right foot.

"Every channel I turned to, there it was, magnifying in on the boot," Seymour said. "To me, the good part was the flowers. I wasn't in on the boot."

Seymour joked that he came home with flowers for his wife after seeing photos of Brady."

Are you under the impression that the media portion of the practice is anywhere near the entire practice time? Please tell me you don't get worried every week when you see Brady's name on the "Probable - shoulder" list.

Not being sarcastic, just wondering.

Re: Man, Is BB Milking This!

Something tells if either the players or BB was actually concerned about TB's foot, they would not be joking like this.

I CAN'T WAIT to see the NY papers tomorrow - - how much do you think they will leap headfirst into BB's joke?

"Mike Reiss reports that practice has begun at the Dana-Farber Fieldhouse and Tom Brady is not present for the start of the practice. More to come. "

I live in DC so I don't get the local media coverage of this stuff, so yeah that I thought that statement meant they had begun actual practice.

To me those Seymour and BB quotes seem like they're actively trying to downplay the injury by hinting that it's not that big of a deal, which I believe that it isn't. If it was all a ploy and they were "milking it" I would expect them to say that they're unsure and that they just have to deal with it as it goes or something like that.

From my understanding, I believe they allow the media in for the first 5-15 minutes of stretching, and then they are escorted out.

True, so Brady could be standing behind door number 1 just waiting for them to leave. I don't really find this funny though. Although I agree that the Pats are probably just tweaking everyone a little bit, there is that little tiny piece of me that is worried by this. Why bring on this endless storm of questions if you don't have to?

And that's why Brady's not there: either way, it'd probably give away the game.

Remember: Belichick is a master of manipulation. There's a reason he almost never downgrades someone to "out" prematurely (I was shocked that Mel Mitchell was listed as out, rather than doubtful, last Friday).

And, as many others have pointed out, Brady is not a moron. Somehow, I can't see him hitting the clubs if he wasn't at darn near 100%.

Dude has a sprained ankle and is likely getting treatment for it. Why practice him this week instead of letting him get as close to 100% as possible? I'm sure his arm could use a rest as well. Unless they are putting in a completely new offensive gameplan which needs more than the 3+ practice days next week to learn, Brady doesn't need practice.

I mean, we're talking about practice. Practice. Not a game. Practice.

I doubt they're milking it.

They're probably just giving it time to heal. They've got two weeks. And Brady is the best QB in the NFL.. you think he needs every practice to be ready for a Superbowl?

I wonder if this is pay back for the Phil Rivers alleged injury leading up to last weak.

Or.... its possible since he only tweaked a few days ago, that he has been given a few days to rest it, so as not to reagrivate it. Many of us have had minor high angle spains. You generally get increasingly better as time goes on, but you don't just jump into full pads a few days out.

He'll be fine. Why reagrivate it.

BB and the Pats would prefer it not exist at all. But it does, and it's going to go after something. So why not have it go over something you understand better than them, rather than have it go in directions (e.g., towards Moss) where it might cause problems?

Anyone else think this foot injury fiasco is just a ploy to take some of the negative spotlight and hype off of Randy Moss?

Thank you! It's a huge stretch to see any evidence of "milking" and "game-playing" here, IMO. We know Brady's not 100%, it's a long way until the game, who would expect him to be practicing full tilt?

"Aha, the most likely and expected thing is happening! Oh, what devious tricks!!"
