Because we're not the Indianapolis Colts.
I don't really see a problem with divisional and AFC Champion banners. Although I wouldn't want to see a wild card banner.
I don't mind a single banner that says "AFC East Champions" and lists the years. Then one that says "AFC Champions" and lists the years in addition to a separate banner for each Super Bowl as they do now.

Also, as a Celtics fan, I always looked down on all the banners the Bruins put up for their stupid divisional or conference championships (or whatever they call them). I understand the B's had to do it so as not to look dominated by the C's but come on.
