Just as the title says, is Bruschi the first player in NFL history to play in 5 Super Bowl's with the same team?

The only team I can think of that would have a chance would be the SF 49ers who went to 5 Superbowls from 1982 to 1995. Did any players survive on the roster for that many years?

Anyone with good internet search skills your help is needed!

Rice definitely was not on the 82 team, he was draftd in 83.

Troy Brown was injured and did not play in the 96 Superbowl and is a big reason we lost because he was BY FARRR our best special teams player that season. I would like to think that Desmond Howard would not have been the MVP that day if Troy were healthy.

Adam V? He was on the 96 team, all 3 SB wins, and the Colts SB.

Looking over the Pats 96 roster Bruschi looks like the only player left on the team from that year.

Charles Haley was on both the 49ers and the Cowboys in the 90s.

From the article linked above which provides your answer.

X. Patriots LB Tedy Bruschi will be playing in his fifth Super Bowl; he is the 15th player to play in five Super Bowls. He is the seventh player to play in five Super Bowls with the same team, joining Larry Cole (Cowboys), Cliff Harris (Cowboys), D.D. Lewis (Cowboys) Charlie Waters (Cowboys), Rayfield Wright (Cowboys) and John Elway (Broncos).

Oh nice! thanks for the find.

Looks like Bruschi has to stick around one more year so he can have the record all to himself next year. :D

WOW, alot of cowboys on that list.

They did make the Super Bowl in 1970, 1971, 1975, 1977, & 1978. So it makes sense.

And how can we forget Elway? '86, '87, '89, '97, & '98.

I think Bruschi would be the first of that group to have a winning record in the 5 SB's. How many of those did Dallas win in the 70's?

Dallas won 2 of the 5, beating Phins and Broncos. They lost to the Colts once, and Steelers twice.

Rice was drafted in 1985. SF traded with Pats and selected Rice at #16 or #17 I think......Pats dropped to end of rd. #1 to select the infamous C, Trevor Matich from BYU.

This is true.

Troy was replaced on the roster by Hason Graham, who failed to make the tackle on Howard on his TD romp.

I believe he was cut the next week, if not the next day!

16th.

This was an era (error?) in Patriots history when it seemed like they were possessed of thought processes like, if we start to trade down in the draft like the good teams do, maybe we'll become one of the good teams!

Thank God those days are gone!

To be honest, I think Elway would prefer we forget those first 3.

How about Eli... 2007, 2008 and 2010... beaten by the Pats each year !!!

Now, that would be real drag, if we had the same opponents each year in the SB..

Next year, I would like to see a Pats vs Cowboys and then a Pats vs GreenBay ( I do think one of those teams will win the NFC soon)
