I have never been to Gillette Stadium, so I may be wrong, but how come there are no AFC Championship Banners for the 85 and 96 teams?

Because we're not the Indianapolis Colts. ;)

No room for those....all spaces are abeing taken up by SB Championship banners :D

Besides, we leave the divisional banners for the likes of Colts

I don't really see a problem with divisional and AFC Champion banners. Although I wouldn't want to see a wild card banner.

Exactly!!!

FFS, pay attention ppl. "All we do in win super bowls". nothing else is worth the cloth its printed on.

:rocker:

The Colts have banners that say "AFC Finalist." That's the same as saying "Losers, 2003." At the pro level anything other than a championship banner is bush league.

On a half-serious note, those banners are BIG, how many of those do you think we can fit on that walkway.

Here are some Colts Banners.

I don't mind a single banner that says "AFC East Champions" and lists the years. Then one that says "AFC Champions" and lists the years in addition to a separate banner for each Super Bowl as they do now.

The Pats are not the Colts (who have ridiculous things like "AFC Finalist" on some of their banners). They only have the 3 Superbowl banners. I agree with their philosophy - An AFC Championship banner reminds you that you lost the Superbowl.

Also, as a Celtics fan, I always looked down on all the banners the Bruins put up for their stupid divisional or conference championships (or whatever they call them). I understand the B's had to do it so as not to look dominated by the C's but come on.

Stick with SB Championship banners, they're the ones that matter. (Players don't wear their SB runner up rings either.)

Not a bad idea.

Already been said, it's not H.S. or Indy. Need to save room for the SB banners. :D

The AFCC wouldn't actually be a bad idea hanging somewhere in the stadium. That is a fairly noteworthy accomplishment. But I'm happy with the way it is.

On that note, might we expect some expansion once Kraft loses the revenue from a couple levels of SRO spots once the banners fill that corner? Maybe close in that north endzone with seating? :)

You think that's bad, the Whalers needed the old AHL banners so the rafters didn't look so barren! :D

That would be a completely appropriate thing I think.

Hey we don't have one from 1963 either.

No knock on the Colts. Before we won the SB I would have hung the 85 and 96 banners. But when we moved to Gillette we had a brand new SB banner, why clutter the place up with the 2nd place ribbons.

But you never take down banners. I would not be surprised if when the Colts move if they only hang the SB one.

The first time you win your div it is a big thing, first time you win your conf it is a big thing.

That's so high school-ish. I wonder how many Colts fans proudly wear their division champions hats and T-shirts.

Probably not anymore. They wear the 2006 SB stuff.

I know my mom bought me a '96 AFC conf sweatshirt, I might have had a T-shirt from '85.

If the Pats lose the SB this year am I going to wear '07 AFC Champ stuff. Heck no, I will stick to '01, '03, '04 gear.

Up to last year, I would have bet many of them did, as that was all they had......
