Move the Superbowl to Saturday

I wish they'd move all NFL games to Sunday. I'm speaking from a New Englander's POV, though. I know there is life outside of I-95 and Fridays are your local HS football day and Saturdays belong to college football...but Sundays esp. at 1:00 PM or 8:00 PM are horrible times for football (IMO). Monday Night Football sucks big-time because I usually can't watch all of it (since, you know, I have a job...I didn't watch the dramatic end of the Ravens game this year and went to bed thinking that the Pats lost).

But what the heck to I know. I'm just some guy posting on a Pats fansite.

I just checked with the local high school and college they don't have any football games next Saturday the slot is free.

If the SB was held at 1:00 pm on Sunday that would be fine, or 6 pm on Saturday, but 6 pm on Sunday sucks.

I was talking more about the regular season and how 70% of all the games are on Sunday.

As for the SB I plan on burning a precious vacation day so I don't have to worry about a long game or the inevitable hangover. Saturday would be an ideal day for the SB...and most NFL games. Let the colleges have Sunday.

if the Super Bowl and probably also AFC Championship and NFC Championship would be oplayied on Saturday it would be better (imho)

so on Sunday i can recover...

It'll be 4 p.m. in Arizona and 3 p.m. on the West Coast. This way, Californians will still be able to go out for tofu and sprouts after the game.
:woohoo:

In any case, I think the Super Bowl should be played in daylight. Football in general should be played in daylight. It seems for the Patriots, everything has been under the lights this year. I anticipate the same will go for next season as well. This success is turning us into a bunch of vampires.

I was wiped out for about 12 hours after the Chargers game. Too much excitement for me.... I wouldn't mind a Saturday move.

Better yet, George Bush and Congress should get together and make the following Monday a national holiday, solving all problems cleanly.

Kickoff at roughly 6:20 pm Sunday is perfect IMO. The only neg for me is the extended 1/2 time. That's not right.

Yeah, lets just disregard the student-athletes who will have to travel back home Sunday night, just in time to get to class Monday morning.

So they won't be late for their Underwater Basket Weaving and History of Rock and Roll classes. I'm sure they don't want to miss those.

Either move the SB to Saturday (I don't think too many High Schools or Colleges are playing in February) or make Monday an Official National Holiday. :woohoo:

I guess I can sacrifice a few hours of sleep, given the historical nature of this game... If it was some other teams playing the SB... that would be different. I wouldn't really care.

Exactly, which is why the NFL made a deal with MAD to keep it on Sunday. :)

You beat me to it.:D

How about having the championship games on separate days? Of course, the question would be whether to have one game on Saturday leaving a short week for the team that played the prior Sunday, or one game on Monday Night (yuck!).

This is strictly from a season ticket holder POV; we always miss part of the NFC championship game when we attend a Patriots championship game.

Another idea would be a 1 pm and a 6:30 pm game, but I imagine the networks would not get the desired ratings from a 1 pm championship.

I hope that isn't true. Because it would be idiotic if it was.

It is all about money. Sunday at 6 is the perfect time, because most people are home from their weekend activities. People do stuff on Saturdays. That's why the Super Bowl will never be on a Saturday. The ratings wouldn't be much lower, but they would lessen enough to the extent that the NFL would never consider having the Super Bowl on a Saturday.

Personally, I would love a Saturday Super Bowl, but that's only because it would take top priority over anything else. That's not the case for the rest of America... including the fans of the 30 other teams. I barely watched the last Super Bowl that I didn't care about.
