Pay for the playoffs?

Does anybody know how much players get this year for the playoff games? [I seem to remember it being $50K-$100K.]

I know that for the Bradys, Seymours, and Welkers of the world, it's not much, but for guys like Spach and Ventrone, it's nothing to sneeze at (especially for a guy like Bubba, who doesn't see the field all that much). . . .

That would be sweet for the younger players. Like a 25%-30% increase over the minimum.

I read 80 grand for the afc winners and another 80 grand for the SB winners with the runner ups getting 40k for the sb so it looks like brady and Co will be depositing another 80 k next week

But that's in addition to the pay for earlier games. Last year each Patriot made 19,000 for the Jets win, 19,000 for the Chargers win, and 37,000 for the Indy loss.

Does the post season pay-offs count towards the cap or is that money exempt? This could be good chunk of change and the team already has cap issues for next year. Not that I am complaining about them going to the SB just wondering.

Playoff payments do not count against the cap. The league is paying the talent for performing, essentially.

There is also a league program that pays select minimum salary players additional funds based on their in season usage, and that doesn't count either. It's like a performance bonus for overachievers who substantially exceed the value of their compensation. That doesn't count either.

Actually, that program applies to ALL players, but the payment is a function of either one's salary or one's salary cap number (I don't remember which).

Here are a few paragraphs from the Globe about it:

Patriots center Dan Koppen again will be among the highest- paid recipients of what is called performance-based pay, a formula the NFLPA uses to divert some of the salary cap money into the hands of minimum-salary players who are performing admirably. Koppen will receive an extra $141,000 later this year. Rookie cornerback Randall Gay, who is playing for the league minimum of $230,000, will receive a 65 percent bonus totaling an additional $150,000. A year ago, Koppen's first as a starter, he earned an additional $101,000, meaning in two years he's been paid nearly a quarter of a million dollars above his salary for becoming a regular despite playing for minimum wage. Koppen earned $369,000 this season in base salary. Each club contributes $2.4 million from its salary cap figure to fund the bonus plan . . .
