This is what pisses me off, if this was the Colts, Chargers, Steelers, or Jags in this game, everybody would be saying how the Giants are in for a tough game and so on.

I remember in 01, it was all the Rams are going to win. None of this Patriots toughness.

Because it is us, the media is hyping up the Giants to beat us. They hyped up the Steelers, Jags, Colts, Chargers and so on, and we beat them.

NEWSFLASH---18-0 AFC team versus...an NFC team that BARELY beat GB, played a bad Dallas and didn't blow them out, and a decent TB team.

As I remember, we beat Dallas 48 something, and they are the most talented NFC team on paper. Not to mention they were playing well when we played them. We beat an Indy team, despite playing only 20 minutes of good football.

And, Dr. Z can shove it. Giant toughness will beat Patriot talent?

If the Pats were to play a stinker, maybe, but I am telling you the Pats are going for the juggular.

The Giants front 4 is good, but other than that, the defense isn't great. You really think Eli Manning is magically changed? He has improved, but like Favre, under pressure in the SB, he may go back to the normal Eli Manning.

And also, we hung 38 points on that Giant defense without K BRady, Neal or Kazcur. The running game has improved.

If the defense plays well, the Giants won't score 35 again. Not to mention if Burress is double teamed, Eli has not other MAJOR weapons. Toomer is decent.

Nobody brings up the fact since Indy, the Pats haven't played in warm weather. Hence the dropoff in production. In AZ, the Pats offense should accel.

And note to any ***** writer who claims the Giants are coming in confident and hot...18-0 JACKA$$. Honestly, talk about confidence and hot streaks. Please.

You above all should know how the NY media works. They accomplish something small and all of a sudden they could beat one of the greatest teams of all time. 4 AFC teams would be where the Giants are right now if they were in that weak conference.

Guess what...the Super Bowl has a bit of money wrapped in to it. Merchandising, advertising, tickets, etc, etc. Billions of dollars from some of the biggest companies in the country are being thrown into this game, and everyone in the television business benefits if it is sold as a 'well matched' game. What do you expect people to say? 'Damn, those Pats beat the Giants last time without 2 linemen, their best pass blocking TE and a vanilla defense, they're gonna destroy them this time'. It is being trumped up as a great matchup because that's what everyone wants to see (except New England fans, of course).

Deal with it for the next two weeks, and enjoy the demolition come game time.

I think you're reaching for the disrespect angle. It's obvious to most everyone (media included) how big a favorite the Pats are.

Did the Vegas line move that much b/c of the photo of Brady? Last time I heard Pats were favored by 2 scores.

But they have the blueprint! Every team thats played us tough since Indy has apparently left a blueprint on how to beat us, so the Giants have allllll these blueprints they can't possibly lose.

The media picks the Giants because it builds hype and gets clicks and readers. Dr. Z even admitted that he was picking them because he had a gut feeling and he didn't pick the Jets back when Namath made the guarantee. He also had a gut feeling about Will Allen and named him an All-Pro. That doesn't mean Will Allen doesn't suck, it just means Dr. Z felt like pretending he didn't. People (including the good Doctor) picked the Bills over the Cowboys in 1993. They picked the Patriots over the Bears in 1985.

People hope the Patriots lose, but pretty much everyone thinks it's going to be very tough. The Giants will have to play flawless, and the Jaguars (a better team than the Giants on every level) proved that even playing a near-flawless game, the Patriots will still beat you. Oh yeah, so did the Giants, who played their best game in about a decade against the Patriots last time (I know, I'm from upstate NY and attend Giants training camp several times a year, I know that team very, very well)... and still ended up losing, despite the Patriots playing pretty average compared to what they did all year.

There's a good chance that this will be a blowout in the Patriots favor, but the media won't acknowledge that.

there are a lot of contrarian dumbasses floating around that will tout a big dog just so they can feel smarter than everyone else.
they have some short window of time to feel like they're one upping the world, and get their attention, and when their dumbass predictions don't pan out they know everyone will forget and then they move on to the next.
I wonder if they put their money where their mouth is.

No intelligent commentator is going to pick NY. And the media hyped up the Chargers? Nobody picked us to win. Possibility might be mentioned but who in the media is picking NY besides the NY media?

Who really cares?

The game is played on the field.

Why does stuff like this bother people so much? Whenever there is a great team, the natural story to write is the "here's how they can be beaten" story. 18-0 begs that question. It's a compliment.

If we win, I can absolutely guarantee the team will be praised up down and sideways, and story will be as predictable then as it is now: "Best team ever."

If we lose, it turns out the skeptics will have been right.

So, either way, there's nothing to complain about.

if we lose I'm sticking to greatest team ever, but you're lucky brady has a bad ankle.
plus, the refs.

I have no doubt that there will be a few more Giant predictions than normal because we are undefeated. The 'talking heads' always have an agenda of wanting to be the guy who called the upset. In most cases, they search for reasons, and if they can get to the point of justifying it, they will pick the upset. Most never get to that point. This year, its a bigger claim to fame, not only to pick the underdog correctly, but to pick the one that beats the best team ever.

Of course, those people seem a lot more prevelant to us, because we expect 100% to pick the Pats, anyone who doesn't is a moron. In 2001, some of them did pick us, but we didn't recognize it because so many others gave us no chance.
This happens every year. Roughly 75% pick the favorite and 25% pick the underdog. If you are the underdog, you ignore the 25% because the 75% give you no respect. If you are the favorite, you only pay attention to the 25%, because the 75% are 'smart'.

In the end who really cares?
The game will be played for 60 minutes on a 100yard field with 6 points for a TD, 1 for a PAT, 3 for a FG, and 2 for a safety.
You can add up all of the trillions of words said or written about it beforehand, and they have a sum total of absolutely zero impact.
Winning the SB, going 19-0, completing the best season in the history of the NFL is the mission. Thinking that mission includes what is said in those trillions of words is off the mark.

Who the fu(k is Dr. Z? I mean I know who he is ...however, this is a guy that has been much more WRONG than right in his predictions. I think he is a typical pats hater.....that just is begging for them to lose.........It is a waste of time listening to anything he has to say.......

no one hyped up the chargers as far as i know, cept for week 2

in the afccg no one gave sd a chance that i can remember cept some nobody in chicago

That week conferene that split the season series with the AFC.

Am I missing something? The AFC & the Pats ARE the favorites. No one is saying otherwise (Peter King picked an UPSET, remember?)

My memory is slipping, but I thought you guys had experienced a few Superbowls. Haven't you noticed that the media tends to hype the underdog if it's a perceived mismatch? Guess what...THEY ARE TRYING TO GET PEOPLE INTERESTED.

No one wants to hear people talk for 2 weeks about how many points the destruction will entail. They want to hear that the Giants will be able to make a game out of it.

Mike Ditka and a few other talking heads on ESPN did pick the Chargers to upset the Pats in the AFCCG.

Well when you get down to it, there will always be the dumb guys just looking to get attention by picking the underdogs to upset the Patriots.
18 wins, and they haven't learned?

More like 18 wins, and they don't care.
They just want their 15 minutes of fame or attention.
Controversy sells.
So they're trying to sell the controversy and the upset.

Most rationale fans will admit that the Patriots will win the Super Bowl.
But the problem is a lot of fans are either NOT rational or they harbor a hatred/bias towards the Pats that won't allow them to admit the likely outcome of the situation, a 4th Pats Superbowl win and the first 19-0 season in NFL history.

I'm surprised that nobody has gone with the Team of Destiny angle yet, because that is the way the Patriots season seems to have gone.

I think that's ridiculous.

You might not like his prediction, but to say he's worthless? Simply because he's going against your favorite team?

He's backed favorites in the past, and backed underdogs. How much of his writing are you aware of to know that he's a "typical pats hater"?

What a joke.....Dikta is hardly a "dumb guy" .... and I doubt he wants attention. They gotta go out on a limb sometimes....
