In interview, Maroney was asked about being excited about playing in the superbowl, our wise running back said " Ya, I have to keep it under control, I don't want to blow my wad early "

It's like that commercial ......... you just want to say "DUDE !!!!!!!!!"

Oh gosh... that was bad! LOL.
I think he was just trying to use a figure of speech, and ended up saying... that.

It's alright. He's just young and excitable.
It's understandable. He hasn't experienced the Pats Super Bowl tradition yet.

He'll get a taste this year, and I think he'll like it.
Once Maroney gets hit a few times, he'll settle down and hopefully have a nice game.

I think we're going to need him to perform well.
A balanced offense is a lot harder to stop than a one dimensional one.

The poor guy, can you imagine his first day back at practice !

It's going to be torture !

LOL. I think there will be a lot of references during practice.
He'll definitely get razzed for that.
It's all good though.
I think he has a sense of humor, and maybe he'll internalize it as some kind of motivation for the Super Bowl.

He would probably be a very funny person to have a few beers with LOL :rocker:

I had a whole wad of cash, but I blew it all in one place.
I have to make sure I don't do the same come Super Sunday.

English teachers rock!

Sean :)

Pretty funny. Not too bad though, he could have said load and it'd have been even worse, even though what he's saying is understood as the same thing. I don't associate 'wad' with anything perverse.

Heh. He is still a kid. I'm pretty sure vets will have field day making fun of him come practice time.

Haha I just watched the last 5 seconds, all the press started laughing then Laurence must've realized what he said and started smiling widely. He seems like such a fun, good hearted young guy.

blowing your wad = spending all your money. it's a common saying.

HE JUST BLEW IT!!!;) :D :D :rocker:

We had a trainer at work who would constantly say,
"Let the kid shoot his wad" (meaning let them get their anger/tantrum over with)
and I always giggled.

You spelled 'oops' wrong by the way.
I love finding the errors of those pointing out errors.

yes because during the game he will be buying tons of refreshments and programs and spending tons of money.

That's definitely what he meant. hahah nice

But after reading this thread title, i was expecting far worse.

Now try and explain how he is going to do the alternative meeting during the game.

Better yet, don't ;)

i think it really humanizes him and reminds all of us how young some of these guys are

The Chargers definitely blew their wad in the playoffs 2 years in a row. Come to think of it, we blew our wad in the 1st half vs the Colts last year. Belichick is more cautious now in the 1st half ... he saves the defenses wad for the 2nd half. Brady saves his wad for after the game, as well as a few others also. Speaking of wad ... Mercury Morris is blowing his wad every day now, nervous that after next Sunday he will no longer have a wad to blow.

it's a metaphor. he was saying he doesn't want to give everything he's got early and not be a factor in the end. again, it's a common saying. i'm not sure why everyone thinks it's such a mistake.

Well played, sir, well played. :)

Izzo was on EEI this morning and they were talking about the Seymour\Hardwick incident. So they ask him about stuff that's happened at the bottom of the pile and Izzo says "this is what you do Google Ike Reese grabbing guys nuts."

I almost drove off the road laughing.
