"Tougher than the rest
Giants' grit will overcome Pats' talent in Super Bowl"_____Dr Z

Grit. Did you read that? Not the Pat's grit. The Giant's grit.

If I could take liberties with a quote from the late, great Johnny Cochran:

"If you ain't got the grit, the ring don't fit."

"No self respectin' Southerner uses instant grits. I take pride in my grits."

The Packers were a very overrated team, weak in the trenches on both sides of the ball. The Giants were able to dominate them as a result. The trenches will be a stalemate at best for NYG vs the Pats. This will make skill position performance the key: Brad vs Manning, Plaxico vs Moss, Jacobs/Bradshaw vs Maroney/Faulk, Boss vs Watson, Webster/Madison/Ross vs Samuel/Hobbs/Gay. I like the Pats in every single one of those matchups. IF Brady is on his game, the Pats will win handily.

Ahh yes, another vague and intangible quality that the Pats oppenent has and the Pats do not: grittiness. By grittiness, he ofcourse means less talent and a lack of any other viable adjective to use for the Giants. This reminds me of all those "smash-mouth" teams the Pats played. Seriously, I'm surprised he didn't say, "the Giants will win because of their surplus of gumption."

What exactly is more gritty about the Giants? Can I have some examples of this so-called "grittiness"?

"Mr. Tipton, how could it take you 5 minutes to cook your grits when it takes the entire grit eating world 20 minutes?"

I for one am glad to see some pick the Giants. Who are we going to have to laugh at after the pats win?

Comparatively speaking buddy, our grit is the size of bowling balls. Grit is winning 18 or maybe 21 games in a row. Few teams will do either of those things, ever. Call me when you get to our neighborhood 'Gints fan, I won't hold my breath though. Once Shockey returns you'll be back to looking for a real QB and players coach. Peyton was the first Manning to win a ring. Eli will be under pressure not to be the first to lose a ring, since Archie never sniffed one.

Is grit the new buzz word now? I was just getting over classy! The Patriots can kill you more ways than my wife's meatloaf.

They tried to railroad the Juice, but Johnny stood up to the Man.

Alrighty then. We've seen all we need to see here, you can go now. We'll be in touch. Don't call us, we'll call you. Bye, bye now. Thanks again. See ya now. The secretary will show you out. Take care.

The way I feel is that the more people that pick the Giants the better.

You're right. The Pats might be the only undefeated team to be underdogs in the Super Bowl. That plays right into BB's hands. When will they learn? (hopefully never :D).

The media is terrible nowadays. Back for the Carolina Super Bowl they called their D-line one of the best ever. Then after they lost the media downplayed the Pats win by calling the Panthers team one of the worst to make the big game. You can't have it both ways.

When the Pats were 14-point underdogs in 97 I don't remember anyone picking them to win the game. What about the 85 Bears team recording the winning "Shuffle" video prior to the game? Where were the pundits calling for the upset then? Not one person outside of NE picked the Pats to upset the Bears. And nobody had a problem with that. Nobody gave the Pats any due for their hard work in getting to the big game.

bring it on. post it on the bulletin board.

i hope no one picks us. Peter King? Sean Salisbury? Mike Ditka? Howie Long? TJ? Jaws? Bradshaw? Cowher? Shannon? Pick the Giants, please. Pick em to blow us out.

Say our LB's are "Old and Slow." Randy Moss is "distracted." Tom Brady is "hurt worse than we think." Spagnola is the next Belichick. More. More.

Have the betting get so heavy that the spread crashes into single digits. Plan the parade down Broadway.

We Love It!!!!

"Were these magic grits? Did you buy them from the same guy who sold Jack his beanstalk beans? "

Actually, the '72 Dolphins were 2 point underdogs going into the super bowl. The AFC, especially the AFC East, especially the Patriots (hate to say) were pretty weak that year.

Dr Z HATES the Pats. If you doubt that listen to his interview from 12/28 with Joe Benigno and Evan Roberts. Hate to say it but his bitterness reminds me of Mercury Morris.

Some of his highlights,

If the Pats go undefeated they'd maybe rank in the top 15 teams of all time. Curiously, he still picked the Pats to win it all.

Said he's a Tom Coughlin man. Loves him.

Called Eli Manning a scatter arm. Sometimes they come around sometimes they don't.

Best team of all time in his opinion? 1976 Steelers, even though they didn't win the SB that year.

Again this is from 12/28/07

I'm not going to list them all, but if you go back this year all the way to the offseason, he's consistently made bad predictions about the Pats. Randy Moss was going to disrupt the lockerroom, Spygate was going to force Belichick to retire, Colts will win, blah blah blah. He's predicting on emotion, who gives a sh!t?
