From what I've been reading on chargers forums, it appears LT will demand a trade sooner or later because he wants a ring and realize he will not be getting one in San Diego anytime soon. So my question is, do we take LT for the right price, meaning his willing to take cuts/etc to play here?

If LT was willing to take pay cuts to play here, there's no question. The guy is the best back in the league. But I highly doubt the Chargers are going to trade him, especially since Turner is a UFA. That's all just reactionary BS from Chargers fans.

Sure, but why would the best RB in the game be taking pay cuts to go to a pass-first team?

For all that's said around here about Classy VonHelmethead, he's clearly the most talented back in the game, crybaby or not.

But honestly, I expect us to be a pass-first team going forward, and I think the plan this year of working LoMo in more and more as the season went on was brilliant, he's looked amazing in the playoffs. I honestly feel that Maroney has another gear that when he turns it on, he looks as good as anyone in the league, and I'm perfectly comfortable going forward with him as the feature back.

I wouldn't take him if he was he was paying me, personally, to play here.

dude, we have a chance at going 19-0 --- wtf would we need him??

New England already has a backup running back in Sammy Morris, and Kevin Faulk isn't ready to give up his role as 3rd down back. There's just no room at the inn.

Aside from NE and Indy, the Chargers are as good a bet as anyone to remain a contender, they're still a young team...so I'm not sure where this "cant win a ring with SD" bs is coming from.

Also, anyone who wouldnt take LT "for the right price" is delusional or biased. He's arguably the best RB in the game, and like Randy Moss, he's a gamechanger who can completely change your offense for the better.

What for? Who needs him?

We need players who excel in the playoffs not losers who sit on the bench hiding under their visor.

I don't care what Charger fans are saying, Tomlinson isn't leaving - or if he is, I'll be absolutely stunned. And he would come at a costly price, not the "right price". I would take him, obviously, but Maroney/Morris/Faulk serves our needs without having to trade the bunch of high draft picks it would take to get Mr. Classy.

He's under contract, so it would be a trade. The team's already got LoMo. Now, why would the team give up players/picks and add salary just to upgrade the running back position when LoMo is more than good enough to do the job and the team is a passing team? Captain Classy is not going to play for the minimum, after all.

Peyton Manning is the second best QB in the game. That doesn't mean New England should give up draft picks and take on salary just so he can sit on the bench behind Brady. As the Patriots have been showing for years now, it's all about the allocation of resources.

no, he is not needed, and the chemistry between him and other pats could create a serious problem in the locker room...

anywayz, we have a premier back in maroney, no need for another, i dont care how little he wants

No. Sorry, his definition of class doesn't fit this organization!!!

Nah, I'll take a guy who's proven he can run in the playoffs.

Maroney>ParkaVader

This is one of the silliest things I've ever read. LdT's team just played in the AFC Championship game, how on earth does that equate to him thinking he will not be getting a ring anytime soon.

LdT is not going anywhere.

while this whole story is a little out there, it's actually believable that he'd be looking for some rings to go w/those earrings.
and maybe a nice string of pearls.

possibly this was just misinterpreted.

I would want to see a medical report first.

But if he is willing to pull a Moss, take a pay cut for a ring. Sure why not.

Of course BB would have to be confident that like Moss he would behave.

Having a the triple thread of a deep to Moss, a slant pass to Welker or a run by LT would make the offense even more daunting.

LT had the best single season for a RB in nfl history. hands down; I have to give him that.

Last year I might have agreed that he was the best all time. But after seeing him this year how many teams took him out of the game plan; even before he got injured.

the kicker was watching a comcast show '50 greatest tds' last night and seeing / comparing a couple of Barry Sanders TD runs to LTs runs. No comparison - Barry was just something incredibly awesome - running through dancing around folks and heading to end zone.

LT is still good; but I think he has already started the typical rb late career swoon. Unlike somebody like corey dillon who was built a bit heavier and could take the pounding a bit longer..... LT's game is built on his speed and elusiveness and when his small frame gets beat on - he will lose his advantages quicker.

in short; even with a pay cut I wouldn't touch him.

If our RB position leak depth and he's willing for a pay cut, I would take him. But since we have pretty good depth for that position, so I think the best option for him is to stay at San Diego.

OT: The only person I don't want to see trade is Chat Johnson to Indy!!! That could be a tough match up if Peyton have Wayne and Johnson for WRs (Assume Harrison retire).

If LT was willing to take pay cuts to play here, there's no question.
I agree. No way we'd take him. When was the last time you heard a BB Patriot go to the press like he does? Steve Martin comes to mind, and BB cut him mid-season.

you hit nail on head ^ ... reactionary BS .... many people posting this bullsh!t over there aren't long-time fans, don't understand the game and it's difficulties. I will admit that we have quite a few bandwagoneer in the great city of San Diego.

Although I didn't completely agree with him, one guy had it close, it's almost like Ewing, Reggie, Charles, and countless other Hall-of-Fame players that didn't get their NBA ring because they happened to be playing while MJ and the unstoppaBULLS were..... I don't completely agree though, we will get ours with this group
