Asante switching sides?

Was he lined up there to start the play, or just end up on that side at the end? (making a tackle or otherwise?) I didn't see any instances where he was lined up different than usual, but I wasn't watching that closely.

He was lined up - it was just a momentary thing where I looked up and thought I saw Asante on the opposite side, but I could be wrong. I made a mental note of it b/c I remembered a thread here - Chris_in_Sunnyvale I believe was the OP - suggesting they might switch sides and or play some press coverage with the DBs. Which I def saw some examples of the latter, and like I said, I think I saw the former, at least for a play.

I didn't see anything like that, but on man coverage, a crossing route can bring him to the other side in a jiffy. You'll occasionally see him take the slot on the right side.

Might be too simple, but is it possible it was a formation where the Chargers were stacked to the right? Again, I really didn't see it, just curious.

He definitely lined up on offensive left side / defensive right on at least one play in second half on a pass that he defensed poorly (at the time i was thinking he didn't get there in time because he wasn't used to playing that side). I hadn't noticed him over there before or after but tv coverage in a bar is hard to follow sometimes.

I think it was a case of his man was put over on opposite side overload left wrs and he went with him. But not entirely sure.

where are those guys with the dvr when you need them.

Well, since it was me who made this prediction, I've been looking for it and I have to say I have not seen it as of yet. There was a play where the Pats were in man coverage on the WRs and both WRs lined up on the left, so Asante moved over his man. I still think the Pats might do this against NY as Plaxico deserves coverage by the best CB, plus it's the last game so might as well empty out the playbook on both sides of the ball. If the Pats played the Colts, I'm convinced they would have done this to better cover Wayne.

This brings up my real pet peeve with television. I remember years ago networks talked about multiple views of the field on different channels. Now that is something I *might* pay for via NFL network.

I would love seeing the game from an angle where you can see the LBs and the DBs too. Not just the line with emphisis on the QB. I would probably watch the whole game that way. I don't need all those close ups as they break the huddle etc. The broadcasts are so dumbed down.

Yes, that would be wonderful, and I like you would definitely prefer to watch from a more "Coach's Cam" type angle. I don't care about Manning motioning his arms or calling audibles, I want to see what the formation is. That said, the average football fan cares more about seeing the stars than dissecting the play and seeing it all unfold at once. I don't blame the TV networks for making their product appealing to what most want to see, that's their job after all.

I'd love to see more complete film available later to those of us who'd be really interested in seeing it.
